Who is Who??? Please help (Possible Spoilers)
Off topic note: Why do people spell it Karl/Carl, I have a very hard time liking the idea a female player and character would be called that, also when I've seen the name in Romanji it was "Curl" which sounds better. Alph or Alf works but Karl?
Back on topic, I don't recall Sora being 10. It seems like people slowly bumb his age up. If I recall well, which I haven't watched SIGN since 2002, he had a 4th grade schedule or such on his wall. I though the age people came to use was 7-8.
Also it sounds like what you're trying to say is the .hack team and CC2 at last minute decided Haseo was Sora and so sloppily came up with a way to explain it.
I know memory lose can be minor or major but this is Anime people, it's very common that if something dramatic happens with memory, it'd be shown. If Haseo was Sora he would trigger something by seeing Data Drain, Skeith or anything major that The World caused. I'd expect once Haseo sees Skeith the image would go inverted color, lightning sparked behind Haseo's head and he'd say "Skeith... Skeith... SKEITH???... NOOOOO, not again!!"
Or something to that extent.
I'm pretty flexable with details, like how we don't have any 100% solid confirmations Kuhn is Sieg or Endrance in Elk...ect and so I go with what I feel, not telling myself "Yep, Endrance is Elk." I tell myself that currently I'm going with that idea, NEVER having it solid in my mind unless stated 100% by the creating team.
Still, there isn't much to me holding Sora being Haseo together. It's full of holes, if it's true the idea was done badly... I mean if I created a series and I said blue was red, technically through the fact I am the creator, it makes it true, yet it doesn't fully add up does it?
If Haseo is Sora, the .hack team and CC2 did a bad job at planning this out and have some plot holes to fill.

'Carl' was the official translation, alongside Alph, given in the Terminal Disk. Of course, Alph has been translated as 'Alf' before but that translation appears to have been made outside the context of .hack//Zero.Zyxith wrote:Off topic note: Why do people spell it Karl/Carl, I have a very hard time liking the idea a female player and character would be called that, also when I've seen the name in Romanji it was "Curl" which sounds better. Many people used the name 'Curl' because it is more feminine, but 'Carl' is a much closer translation, her name being derived from a particular brand of food she eats which is, apparently, translated as 'Karl'.
I believe that the majority of children in 4th Grade are 9-10, there's never been any doubt about that and Sora's always been around that age.Zyxith wrote:Back on topic, I don't recall Sora being 10. Not necessarily. Theres not really any major plot holes in the theory and the thing you have to keep in mind is that it is clearly not meant to be obvious that Haseo is Sora despite that being of major significance to past players.[/quote]Also it sounds like what you're trying to say is the .hack team and CC2 at last minute decided Haseo was Sora and so sloppily came up with a way to explain it.

Well I wouldn't exactly dislike Haseo being Sora but it seems like a thing that's so sudden. Then again it does make for an interesting twist so I hope it's stated 100% in a source like the new ROOTS episode that's suppose to come out in March.
At least it's a better twist then the whole twist for the games that CC2 said might make us drop our controllers and stop playing. I saw it coming a mile away.
Still I wonder why the voice actors are different. I know it's a different character buteven when a character grows up they use the same VA. Of course Kuhn and Sieg are different voice actors. I guess you could think of it as them trying to fool us.
I guess what I'm saying now is that if Haseo really was Sora in the past, they better state it in a puclib source such as an episode. I know we can trust their fan books and such but if it really is true, that'd be a major piece of important information and would have to be touched upon in the series flat out and since the games don't state it, I hope it is said in the ROOTS OVA
... The missing pieces I just recalled that make it confusing to think Haseo is Sora:
If this is true it casts out .hack//SIGN episode 28 "Unison" which was a way to wrap up the games and SIGN where after Sora had been freed he join the party in Net Slum and became friends with Tsukasa and such. I'm sure he had memory of all that had happened then or maybe he was just being himself, followed everyone and unconciously due to the events which he forgot, he sparked a change and became a little bit of a better guy. I'm talking of course of him crying for being alone.
Also, Terminal Disc said he stopped playing which in that sense would probably have to had been right after the events of Unison since if he played any longer he would have memories of playing it, hanging out with Tsukasa and the likes. If anything else he would have met like Ann Shoji "Tsukasa" offline and such and if they did become friends offline there is no doubt he'd recall having played The World.
I can understand that CC Corp said he left, and you could always start back up under a new account and they'd be none the wiser, unless they can track IP addresses.
All I'm trying to say is it all sounds a bit shakey.
