Just an FYI for everyone, dothackers isn't a part of this fan translation. Please don't ask if the patch is out. Jun and Kuukai will make everyone well aware of it when it is on this message board.

As with any "When it's done" project expect long periods of little to no information. Understand that these are fans translating this game (not a localization team), and they have many other things in their lives that take top priority over this project. I'd expect the earliest for this project's release date would be late this year/early next year depending on how dedicated they are to this project. Then again I've seen many projects that seemed to disappear for a while then reappear much later on (as much as 2 years later), I doubt this is going to be the case with this one though. Be patient and just check in every once in a while.

If someone releases a localized version of .hack//LINK, will you guys still continue/release this project?

If by someone you mean Namco Bandai, then yes we will stop right away. If by some other group like us, then we would have to discuss that at the time if it happens.

Also Sadivinedevil thanks for answering the last question, yes people disappear from time to time, unless I directly state that I am stopping working on this is safe to assume I am still working on it. I assume the same is true of Kuukai.

Honestly I broke my psp's cfw and I couldn't load my modified version of the game, I managed to fix it last week when the new psp firmware came out and the cfw for it came out the very next day, and the fake signed version of it came out the day after that, so I am back in business in terms of hardware for this project. No PSP = No Work = No Updates = No New Posts.

I doubt it, PSP emulation doesn't work properly for almost all games!

Please leave these kind of questions out of this thread. Let me be clear here (AGAIN) - dothackers isn't a part of this project, we're just hosting the conversation, which is perfectly legal. We've always had great relationship with Namco Bandai and other .hack IP holders, and we forcefully protect .hack properties against any illegal activities on the message board.

Sorry to be direct, but I really don't want any C&D notices sent to the site to make life unnecessarily interesting. :D If it weren't for past prescience in a lot of court cases, companies could successfully sue website owners over comments made by users of the site. Thankfully that isn't true.

I thank you guys for trying and I fully support what you're doing here for us fans of this series. Yet again thank you. I hope this gets finished story and menu wise soon if possible.

I'm just wondering, is the one your working on in Hiragani or Katakana?

Huh? It's in everything really, it's a PSP game. Unlike older games, modern games support kanji so .hack is some combination of hiragana, katakana, kanji, latin characters, arabic numerals, and lucky charms (Geist employs hearts and stars)

Three Cheers for Unicode, you know unless the font does not support umlauts.

If they supported all of unicode with their wacky Link font, I would send someone at CC2 a cake. It's no Gainax font, but that would still be impressive...

Also in case anyone was wondering where we are, the video project is basically done but in light of the announcement here I think we need to hold off a bit. If that doesn't come to fruition, it's a simple matter of one of the three of us shoving it onto Youtube, so I wouldn't worry about this project disappearing. I'm still working on translating the rest of the game, Jun is still working on the patcher, and so there'll be more news in the future, I just thought people would want to know we've passed a milestone and have tangible results you'll definitely see in the future if you don't see an official release...

Very nice to hear that you guys are making progress. Hope the project doesn't become too much of a strain on those of you who are working on it. Have fun, and don't kill yourselves...

I have a feeling after a year now, they won't be bring .hack//LINK to the US. That reply just sounded like them saying "yeah yeah, we love our fans and what to listen to them, now go away." I wouldn't take it to heart at all and would just keep working at what you are doing now. I know I'm looking forward to the game for a long time and would love to see you guys finish translating it.

@Kuukai
You said you reach milestone progress in translating the game.. might as well specify the specific progress. I mean can you tell how many % of the game are already translated? in what category etc..

So from what I understand, you finished all of the cut scene translations? That's cool. It means the next update might hold the Orgel scene I'm looking forward to. Good luck...

I'd still at least like to wait for it to wind down to avoid leroy jenkinsing into anything...

The video project is over 2 hours of video plus some supplemental text that covers the main story. It doesn't have absolutely every minor boss fight or whatever, because if it did it would be like 30 hours and wouldn't be done...

In terms of schedule, nothing has changed from when I answered that last month:
