i like g.u. vol.1 because:
1:the broad sword
2:arena
3:just plain PKKing in the feilds
4:he has skeith, who dosen't wanna battle using skeith
5:no illegal items plot in the way(i saw the terminal disk stuff on youtube and nope avatar's are not illegal to have, apparently)
6:battle system
the only things i don't like is the steam bike, the avatar battles was way to easy but we won't get good avatar battles until vol.2 since well cyber connect 2 is just mean to skeith and it felt like we were just playing a tortural(don't care for grammer)than a battle from what i have seen in vol.2
What they could have done: They could have brought back the Crest Ability system and mixed it up with the customization system.
Instead of constantly going around killing enemies for increasing skill points, they could have introduced schools based off of the Three Tribes of The World, and an AP system where you could spread the knowledge through your arts and spells.
Make more areas. I'd love to see a Dark element themed Wasteland or a decieving meadow of light.
the file on youtube that was done by video camera and it was sorta blurry but still awsome though
my username is meganerd 9 if anyone cares which i doubt

Is it really that they are deeper? or just angstier?
While it cannot be argued that the characters in GU are not more flushed out than in .hack, I don't think they are as deep as everyone would like to believe.
Like Maive said they show more emotion but also the characters have reason to be there. In the past .hack// games the extra characters where just there for ppl who's fav. characters where of sign. This one they actually have a reason to be there even Piros. There storys are more involved and deeper to the storyline. As well there are more plot twists and deception.
what's with the weird looking sweatdrops?? those are just weird. they should have kept those away from the game. Far FAR away. Or, they should have made them look like the game graphics.
R:1- 8 types of areas, 6 types of dungeons, wep. upgrade-Moniseur
R:2- 6 types of areas, 2 types of dungeons, wep. upgrade-Alchemy+items
R:1- 4 games- minimum game time total 70 hours (all 4 games)
R:2- 3 games- minimum game time total 45 hours (all 3 games)
R:1 VS. R:2
Graphics: R:2 (tecnicality)
Areas to Explore: R:1
Diverseness: R:2 (beast ppl are legal, but was hurt area wise)
Please contine the comparisons.
well i do agree and also i would like to say that in the first series you hade more freedom to level up and get level 99 weapns at level 50 but you get to have 4 diffrent weapons in the second series. truly i think that there are tradeoffs between the games and that is why i still play both
Well, admittedly each game has its share of shortcomings, but I think the main point everyone seems to be forgetting here is that //G.U. is a sequal, not a replacement. The story and characters, naturally, are different, but I don't think it's fair to say one's better than another in that respect. Personally, I think //G.U. has a very deep story, and the fact that you learn more gives me more reason to continue playing.
Of course we could argue forever about Grunties v. Steam Bikes, but it's all a matter of preference. =/
Actually, I agree somewhat that G.U. is not better than the originals, as seems to be the popular opinion. Chim-spheres aren't a problem unless you never collect them, or you've launched about 40 mecha grunties (which just makes the game more interesting). A lot of the issues you have are sorta addressed in the next game, since party members help you with Chim Chims and Dul Dauna more the size of an R:1 town. I really miss the scenery from the first games though, the fields and dungeons just aren't as interesting (though they do add more in Vol.2)... As far as story and avatar battling (and also the equipment system) go though, I disagree. The story and characters are .hack quality, and I love being Haseo, I think he's a really fun persona to be, I often agree with his point of view too (which is actually kinda important for some of the story to work nicely)... Avatar battling gives you a nice change of pace, it would just be a bit nicer if it was more integrated, and there weren't a set number of battles... I definitely miss things from the first four games, but I can always replay those... This series is really just different not better or worse, in my opinion...
