Zorlo shook his head. "I don't have the faintest," he stated as he rested his hand on his chin as the air vibrated.

"I can."

The voice seemed to come from nothing, and a surge of power quickly consumed the six into an extradimensional space. Floating for a second, they noticed that another woman was among them... on that hadn't been there.

"I swear to me, always one piece that doesn't want to play the game right. I swear to goodness," the man mumbled incoherently as the looked at the seven (six people and a cat) before he raised his finger at them and small figures began to emerge from their bodies.

"I have many names, but for the purposes of the events to come, call me DM. It doesn't stand for anything, it just sounds cool. Now then, I haven't time to listen to your inane prattle or answer your petty mortal concerns. I'm just here to explain the rules of this game."

Zorlo quirked his eyebrow and crossed his arms. "What game?"

DM laughed, adjusting his mask slightly. "The game that has existed since before mankind emerged from the primordial ooze. I shall explain more if you all survive. If not," DM said as he shrugged. "well, it just means I return to hiding for another few generations and bring more toys in to play later. For now, I think you should know that you are stuck in a war between the gods, angels, fallen angels and devils. What humans perceive as 'natural' disasters tend to be a side-effect of these battles," DM explained as he sighed and began to explain everything about the gods, angels and others. (I'm not going to rewrite it here since its in the description, now our characters will just get the explanation. :P)

-------

Elsewhere, a being of ancient and grand power stepped forwards. A flowing cloak of black and eyes of red shined from beneath his hood as he placed a mask over his face. He was one of the four beings that was one of the few "Fallen Angels" left, and the front commander of them. Voyager the Black Testament looked over the ruins of the battlefield the night before. He held his hand over the unstable zone and shifted backwards.

"Voyager reporting in. No sign of the boy or the cat. I know that they were there, last night when the two great powers clashed. I sensed a spacial anomaly and then he and the cat were gone. I believe its happening again," the man stated as his powers began to flow vibrantly around as six massive, black wings erupted from his back. "In the name of the Almighty, I shall bring these mortals back," the man stated as he lifted off the ground slightly. "Children of Earth, come and capture my prey. I cannot tarry here. I do not wish to draw the attention of annoying foes," the man stated as he vanished in a flash, leaving two others Fallen Angels in his place.

One of the two lit a cigarrette and drew a hilt with no blade from his cloak while the other readied a gun with no clip in it. THe two smiled and laughed. Finally, perhaps something of interest was going to happen. Maybe a real battle instead of just the lame fights they'd have torturing normal humans that crossed into their turf.

It took exactly zero time for Morgan and Maes to realize that what had tormented them was a fallen angel upon hearing the description. Maes began hyperventilating and Morgan slunk over to him and pawed at a pocket, mewling in an effort to get Maes' attention. It took a little time, but Maes took notice and reached an unsteady hand into the pocket to withdraw a pill bottle. It took some effort and focus, which Maes simply didn't have at the time to open it. Morgan took a deep breath and "switched". The cat then started to hyperventilate and the boy calmed down almost immediately although he still opened the bottle and took a couple of pills. Morgan made sure they were down and the bottle away before he returned them to their own bodies. Maes was still hyperventilating, but it was a little bit more under control and Morgan was confident that he wasn't going to faint on them, just the same he had the boy sit down and lounged across his lap, listening to DM's explanation critically, and slightly dizzily when he tried to define DM's scent.

Morgan meowed angrily when DM finished. "If you're so doggedly bored go play recruiter and warmongerer by yourself. We don't want anything to do with any of those things, least of all the Fallen. All you've done is paint a target on Maes's head, he can't even handle talking about those things, what good will drawing attention to him like this do asides from getting him killed or worse! So whatever you are and wherever you're from, just take all of your little freak friends and go play somewhere else!" As spirited and compelling as that argument might have been, a lot of it was probably lost in the fact that it was in the form of cat noises.

Cecile stared at the DM with a raised brow for a moment. After a moment, she felt a part of her think about how inconvenient it was on everyone there. Still, she was convinced that he had some strange drug that somehow would force them. "You're not selling a fair deal, even on the standards I'm used to." She spoke, her eyes closing. "There's nothing in it for me to fight things such as those creatures. However, since you're not giving any of us a choice, I'll have to just fight whatever thinks my life is worth that much." She turned her back to him, starting to walk farther away until he'd make more sense.

This was not Elsa's day. First she forgot to pack her lunch, the next she was being told to do something crazy. "Are you trying to tell me that you revived us for your own use and would rather have us fight those creatures than live normal lives and die normally?" She asked, sounding tired already. "I have enough problems without being asked to fight things of a supernatural nature."

Allrainne just laughed. Just shook her head and laughed for a moment. "So... that's it, huh...? 'Here are some powers, do what you want with them and, oh by the way, you're now my throw-away toys in a lethal game that didn't really concern you, because I have no desire to dirty my own hands in the slightest," Allrainne said to him, shaking her head before looking in the face... mask... whatever. "The hell do yo get off doing this? What are you, some poorly written, cowardly, video game villain that sends out wave upon wave of minions to die until your enemies get strong enough to find and kill you? If you were human, I'd beat dam-"

A sharp tug on her shirt made her pause and look down at her sister, whom was shaking her head with a combined look on fear and concern, directed at Allrainne. The look made the woman's anger slow its raging beat. "...Please, stop... He... could kill you... Please?" she said to her softly.

Allrainne took a deep breath and sighed, patting her sister on the head. She was still pissed, but she'd stop, for now, and blow it off later, though it was clear she still had plenty of words for DM.

DM laughed. "Oh, really? A villain, you say? What kind of villain saves foolish children to have them play a life-and-death game with monsters using powers of their own. At least I gave you SOMETHING to fight against the monsters that are waiting for you out there. Hell... there are much worse things than just Fallen Angels, gods, and the other two." DM took a deep breath before adjusting his mask to take a drag of a cigarette he materialized out of thin air.

"Anyway, little mortal, I did my part long before human memory. Hell, I did my thing before humans came into being. The wars between... well, that's something else. You'll learn more about that later," DM said with a cackle as he walked forwards and the white emptiness transformed into a sea of blue polyhedron forms that changed sporadically.

Zorlo stepped forwards and pointed at DM, holding his ground. "That girl may fear death, but I'm not so lucky. What the hell is wrong with you that you'd bring us here?"

DM laughed. "Coming from a man who is one of the three beings that aren't me that knows something of this stuff, you're awfully full of charisma. Your family... your REAL family is out there looking for you."

Zorlo nodded, sighing. "Do you have any idea how long it took me to hide my green hair... to create this persona..." he asked, biting his lip as he prepared to lash out.

"You think your suffering?" DM asked as he jerked his thumb at Maes and then down at Morgan. "These two chumps were experimentations of the Fallen Angels. Their powers grow from that nature. They can have their revenge now."

DM took another smoke before he pointed at Cecile. "That girl's indescressions earned her something that should have killed her... perhaps. You never know, you humans can amaze me... once in a blue moon," the man said with a laugh. "BUt I've given her a second life. She can now live her life again and decide if the decisions she made can't be unmade. Sadly, mortals are feeble minded and simple. I'm sure she'll simply return to her ways."

DM spun around as Allraine floated up slightly as he pointed at the two sisters. "Those two sisters lost their mother and that little one lost her livelihood. I've restored her lung and she can electively restore a lost eye. The other has gained the power enough to protect her little sister from anything, more than just mortal weakness. Humans can't do what's right for themselves, and that is why the others seek to rule you. They could save you from yourselves, but you don't want to be saved. THat's what I love about you pathetic creatures!"

Zorlo withdrew his objection slightly as he held his hand up and looked at it before clenching it into a fist. "So... then why make us puppets?"

DM Looked at Zorlo and returned his mask to its original position. "Don't you want to hear about that other girl?" the supreme being asked as he pointed at ELsa. "Personally, I wouldn't either. She's rather bland. STupid girl got caught in something she gains nothing from except super powers. The most she can hope to find is something worthwhile out of you lot... but none of you seem to be have much in common with the rest of you."

Zorlo sighed and looked at Elsa. "I can understand everyone here but her now... but that's how these things work out. What is it you want?"

DM laughed. "Simply put, I want you to put a wrench in the plans of some people and for you all to deal with your own pathetic life choices. Once you've all done that, then you'll understand why I saved you all to keep fighting."

With that, Zorlo turned his back on DM. "Fine... I don't want to be part of this... because I know they'll find me now... but I can't very well leave these others... except the strong-willed girl, to protect themselves. I'll fight to do what I can to help them for now... I'll deal with my own problem later."

"Well, he certainly talks a big game, doesn't he?" Meowed Morgan, "And I am not a chump. I am a cat." He walks around in a circle around Maes before settling down just in front of him. "Though, I must admit, revenge could be good. Right Maes?" After several seconds Maes shakes his head and utters quietly, "No, I'm not interested in that, but..." He reaches out a hand and starts petting Morgan. "nobody else." The cat blinks at his oddly calm friend's unfocused eyes a couple of times and then shrugged. Probably just the drugs. In a broken singsong voice Maes spoke, "The board is set, at dawn the pieces make their moves, we'll play all day and come the twilight the battle will fade and all that's changed will be the time." "Ok, no more drugs for you today." Purred the cat concernedly. Morgan pulled the pill bottle out with his teeth and carried it over to one of the women to make sure he didn't accidently get into it. Maes had never had this much of a reaction to them before, but he'd never been magical nor this worked up since it was prescribed either and it worried Morgan.

Cecile held onto the bottle, examining the label. Taken in high enough doses, she was quite sure that this would be more than effective against someone who might not have needed the drugs. She placed it in her purse, nodding in what seemed to be understanding to the cat. Of course, she didn't hear his words, but she did get the need to get drugs away from someone who might overdose. She closed her eyes and knelt down to pet the cat lightly on the head. "I'll make sure he gets them when he absolutely needs them." It seemed like she'd be seeing Maes a lot more.

Elsa held a hand to her head as she was deemed bland. "Excuse me for living a normal life while you choose random people for your game of who can die first." Her voice was sharp, seeming almost too sensitive to the fact there was nothing important about her. Just because it was out of necessity or some strange chance of fate, she didn't need a guy telling her she was dull and stupid. At this point, she just wanted to go back to work and do something important for her job. Not be stuck fighting things just because she was supposedly an idiot. "What else is there for me to do other than go back to work and be boring as usual?" She would walk way, she didn't care how, but she would.

So then... that's why It's been easier to get around this morning... Arianna thought to herself as DM went on his speech against Zorlo and Allrainne was let down. It seemed it was just as he said, as she took her first, painless deep breath in years. The eye was likely to be a more ...difficult... procedure, as DM had said she could 'electively' restore it. Meaning she likely had the power to, but probably had 'learn' how to and decide to do so.

Allrainne, on the other hand, was only partially happy about the news she'd heard. While she was supremely happy about her dear sister getting her 'livelihood' back and about her having the power to protect her sister from even worse things, this power also meant that there would be ever worse things coming for them. In other words, a truly double-edged sword.
It was Elsa's retort that made her really look at the woman. Allrainne doubted that she was really quite that bland with the connections of everyone else, but then, she often found her assumptions to be spectacularly wrong at times, so she see. "Look on the slightly less dim side!" she said dryly with a slight smile. "You have something in common with us. You're stuck in this mess and you probably this masked freak as much as a few of us!" she finished with shrug before looking back at DM. "So, got anything else useful for us...? Or what?"

"Dissolve in an pit of acid?" he asked sarcastically as he took another drag from another magically conjured cigarette.

"Okay, but before that," Zorlo interjected with a stern tone. "What's going to happen to us?" he asked Elsa suddenly appeared where she had been standing before trying to walk off.

DM sighed. "In the simplest terms, you'll be dealing with the fact that your species is a mess of feebleness and inadequacy. I like messed up people because you exemplify the actual value of your race as a whole. You are more than others... you are more proud, more afraid, more happy, and more sad. In ages past, these powers would have made others mistake you for gods or saints. In this day and age, they just make you freaks... but I don't suggest joining the circus."

As DM finished speaking, Elsa, once again, appeared near the center of the extradimensional space. DM finally said something about it. "I know the concept of extradimensional spaces is lightyears beyond your human capacity to comprehend, but you're basically in a box where when you touch a wall, you return to the center. You can't leave unless I expel you or collapse the dimension. If I do the second, all that is your existence will suffer the most agonizingly slow and painful death outside of time and space that mortals can comprehend. I do suggest you cease your idiocy before I consider that option," the man said with a sigh.

Zorlo rested a hand on Elsa's shoulder as she attempted to walk away again. "You've made your point, madam. Your spirit is strong, but this is beyond our control... for now. This man's actions may be... maniacal and devious, but that doesn't mean we're simply puppets on a string. WE have the power to choose what we do with these new strengths we've gained, and with that we can tip or adjust the balance of power in this ancient war however we feel. He's merely put us in play. Let us make our stand and carve a path!"

Morgan purred pleasantly and rubbed up against Cecile's calves. She seems familiar. Smells a little like Maes.

"Capacity? Reason." Maes stated with a laugh. His head lolled to the side as he looked at DM. "Conductor. Orchestra. Direction. Control." What little support he had been holding himself sitting upright with waned and the boy lied upon the ground and somehow ended up on the ceiling with a conductor's baton. The blue hexagons making up the territory scintillated with the sluggish waves of his hand. Apparently, somewhere in that terror and drug whelmed brain Maes had reached some insight into what DM had said, just before he lost consciousness and fell back to the floor, sailing through the room like a leaf on the wind.

Morgan didn't really understand what was going on with Maes, the boy never talked this much when people were around and never so... oddly, but he knew that sluggish breathing well enough to know he had fallen asleep. Which made him want to try something. Morgan curled up at Cecile's feet and did some switching. Maes suddenly started moving in the air and falling, but he landed on his feet and looked around the room. His eyes were more in focus and he looked steadier than he had been since anybody there had seen him and though they still seemed somewhat groggy his eyes took in everything. He looked over at the cat, sleeping soundly and straightened a bit. Maes was apparently in actuality about average height, that or he had somehow grown about six inches. All things considered, the growing probably seemed a little bit more likely. He walked over to the wall and reached out to it, viewing the strange effects he had only heard before Morgan remarked, with an only slightly slurred British accent that had not been there before, "Curiouser and curiouser." He took a couple of steps towards DM, "You've made yourself appear smaller than I expected."

Morgan, turned and studied everyone present, "Even I can appreciate the aesthetics many of you have. Too bad Maes is..." he stares Elsa in the eye, "well he's what's left of someone who was just trying to do his schoolwork and be boring as usual. Believe me, I loathe endorsing poppers, but you were a target already. The only difference is that now, now you can do what Maes could not. You can fight back. You can hurt and claw and tear and make them watch as you stab
their eyes out with hot pokers." He took a deep breath and walked over to Cecile, he looked her up and down critically before smiling. "I'm trusting you to look after Maes when and how I can't." Morgan blinked and then laughed waving away any remarks. "Apologies, apologies, I've never actually needed to introduce myself to humans before. The driver usually handles that." He walked over to and stood in front of DM before bowing to everyone with feline grace. "I am the honorable Emperor Morgan Schrodinger the first and your humble servant, and the boy is my faithful subject Maes Schrodinger." When he straightened to looks of confusion he huffed and asked, "I am speaking a vernacular that you can all understand now, am I not?"

Cecile picked up the sleeping cat, holding it gently in her arms. She could remember seeing a lot of stray cats in the alley ways near the clubs. Her eyes looked towards Elsa, but in a sense she understood her position. Being boring did protect you from reality. However, she could never be normal again. Her gaze focused on the DM for a moment. "Is there anything else you are going to require us to do other than fighting?" Her voice was soft as she pet the cat gently with one hand.

Elsa covered her face, her mind not sure how to respond. Everyone was ganging up on her but what seemed to be a few of them. Still, her brain was having too hard a time grasping what was going on. Her body remained stiff, as if trying to think while not hearing different arguments. Forge paths in an ancient war? Do something because she wouldn't end up like someone who went through a lot? What was she supposed to be? Some guardian angel?

(Neko asked me to post, since the responses Allraine and Arianna would have had wouldn't really affect the plot. So I'm gonna move us on and he'll post at the end of the next cycle.)

Zorlo remained silent as he looked at Morgan and shrugged. "Impressive, to say the least. Then again, what cat doesn't believe that? I mean, my cat back home had the same opinion... and he could talk too," Zorlo said as he scratched his cheek. "Grandpa was a fighter, even after becoming a cat. Still is, I'm sure," the man mused to himself as he ran his hand through his hair.

"Still, I'm pissed. DO you know HOW LONG It took to make my green hair normal colored. Even without my memories of my past, self-contained though they were, I knew green hair looked wrong. So I'm mad about that," Zorlo stated.

DM merely took a drag of his cigarette before blowing out a puff of smoke. "I understand, everyone but the narc and the dealer are upset. Oh, and the cat. While the three of them live as a happy family, the other four of you have an important question to ask yourselves: Will you fight, or will you die?"

Silence overcame the room as Zorlo hung his head. "FIghting is why you brought us back... so fighting is damn sure what I'm gonna do."

DM shook his head. "It may SEEM that way, but in truth, were any of you happy with your lives before... normal girl not withstanding. Honestly, pretending to be normal, Zorlo Amaranthine; being abused by a lazy asshole for you two sisters... I've given you a second chance. You can leave all of that crap behind and carve a new path. You can recreate yourself and rebuild your lives to try and find happiness. Isn't that what you mortals are all about?" he asked, adjusting his mask nonchalantly.

Zorlo sighed and nodded. "I sealed my memories after my exile... now I have to face myself and them." Zorlo smirked and crossed his arms. "I can do that. So where do we start."

DM shrugged. "Put simply, waiting outside where you were, two Fallen Angel agents are waiting for you. Right now, with no training with your powers, I expect at least half of you will die. The other half of you will suffer serious wounds. I'm going to be nice... I'll send you outside of their sense range... still, as long as that boy and cat live," DM said, motioning towards Maes and Morgan, "they can find you. You'll have to learn fast and master your powers. That, however, is up to you. Good luck," DM said as a flash erupted and the party lost sight.

~~~
As the light faded and sight returned, the group looked around where they were. They were placed outside of a large apartment building. Zorlo looked up and sighed. "WEll at least I don't have to walk too far. Just six floors up to my apartment," he mumbled incoherently as he looked at the group. "So, anyone want something to drink... since we're here anyway?" he asked with a sigh before he removed his key and opened the main door.
(Also, added some stuff to Zorlo's profile)
"I'll have the usual. And after that, I would very much like to know how you know so much about your previous life if you've forgotten it, wait no, more important than that but can wait until after the milk somebody needs to do whatever it is you do to text the driver where we are." Morgan looked up towards the sixth floor of the building. "Oh and since you're the host, you should probably carry Maes." He walked over to Zorlo and Maes's body suddenly went limp and fell onto Z; the cat in Cecile's arms purred contently and nuzzled her as Morgan resettled into a slightly more comfortable position.
Cecile walked forward with Morgan in her arms. She looked towards Elsa, who looked a bit more exhausted than everyone else. "If you come up, I'll get you a sedative." She had used it a few times to go to sleep when she first found out she was sick. It wasn't illegal or too addictive. Perhaps it was the reason she had used the stronger drugs when she started selling. Still, she didn't know what she was supposed to do with the fight. She didn't know what her power was.
Elsa was a bit surprised at the offer. "Well, it seems you know more about drugs than I care to know. Just one pill and no alcohol."
"That would be all you'd need to be able to go home, right? Though, you should call your work and tell them something has happened."
Allrainne looked around where DM had set the group down as Arianna looked up at the apartment building. She didn't need extra-dimensional powers to tell that she and her sister were quite a ways off from the park, and by extension, their car, belongings, and only place to sleep tonight. Allrainne sighed. "Guess we really don't have a choice, since we'll end up fighting if I try to get to the car..." she murmured as she touched her sister on the shoulder and nodded.
Arianna seemed to get the idea as she followed her sister to the door where Zorlo was now holding the unconscious Maes. "Here, let me." Allrainne didn't wait for Zorlo to react as she picked up Maes and paused a moment. "Huh... was he... always this light?" she asked off-handedly as she experimentally lifted him single-handedly, literally. "Well, whatever. Lead on, Zorlo."
Zorlo laughed at Allraine's display as he removed his key and opened the door. "IMpressive strength, miss," Zorlo stated as he started the trek up the stairs with the group. It took a few minutes, and six flights of stairs, but they arrived in his one-room apartment not but a few minutes later. As the door opened and he ushered the group in, Zorlo had Allraine set Maes' down on his bed and served what little he had to offer.
"WEll, seems like we're all... relatively speaking, still here. Anyway, so where does everyone live? I'd like to say I can help... but I don't have a car, sadly. Still, getting some idea how near or far you folks are will help to gauge how effectively this little group or club or whatever will work," the man said as he sighed and rested his index finger against the bridge of his nose. Things were so complicated now...
Morgan gave a shrug in answer to Zorlo's question and went right back to lapping at the bowl of milk. After several seconds of silence he glanced up at the door and mewed happily.
The door was kicked in, and the blond haired woman juked to the side to present a smaller profile to anyone inside. Emerald eyes danced across the room and she relaxed the P90 she had been holding slightly upon seeing that no one was apparently armed and spotting Morgan. "Where's Maes?" She demanded. Morgan purred and nodded towards the bedroom before returning to his milk. "Nobody move." Her voice carried the authority of someone used to giving orders and she moved across the room quickly, keeping the gun trained on somebody not immediately next to the cat the entire time. Morgan laid his head down when she entered the bedroom. The door was shut but the thin walls of the apartment did little to muffle her voice. She asked, "Are you alright? Do you know where you are? Are the three women, two girls, and Captain Planet in the other room friendlies?" There was no audible response from Maes but she came out, apparently satisfied, and Morgan woke up.
The woman in the black suit turned the safety of the gun on and tapped the earpiece, "I've found him. He's safe. Looks like some people found him unconscious in the park and were kind enough to take him to their apartment. I'll brief you on the rest upon your return. Goodbye." She tapped it again and approached Zorlo, laughing sheepishly. "Mr. Amaranth, sorry about your door and the trouble I must have caused you and your guests, in my haste to ensure young master Schrodinger's safety I got carried away. I'm his driver, Claire. I hope this will compensate for the inconveniences we have caused you, and the milk." She withdrew a pair of hundred dollar bills clipped inside of her jacket and offered them to him.
Most would think that Cecile was the most likely to freak out at the intrusion. She closed her eyes as the woman entered and spoke. As long as they weren't after her for activities regarding certain issues, then it was fine. "Thank you for your concern, Miss Claire." She spoke, her eyes opening a little. "I am glad to see that he has someone prepared to keep him safe." She had a hand on the glass in her hand as she sipped the water. 'So he's rich and he has some mental issues. I suppose he has a better support system than I had back then.'
Elsa had the sedative to help her relax until the sudden entrance. Her body shook a bit as she looked at the woman and listened to her. 'Could this day get any worse...?
Keep him safe my butt! That's well behind 'Armed Bodyguard', she thought with a derisive snort as Claire vanished into the back room to check on Maes. With she and Zorlo being the farthest from Morgan, she was the primary one staring down Claire and her P90 sub machine-gun, tense as she knew that there was little she could do against something like that beyond her still unknown powers. "Just... who the hell is Maes...?" she murmured to herself as she quickly moved over to her younger sister, whom had been sitting frozen on the couch.
Arianna had been deep in thought about everything that was happening when the door had been kicked in and sub machine-gun was first pointed in. A shiver of fear ran through her then, but Claire's slight relaxing followed by her asking and then receiving an answer from Morgan of all things was enough to get her mind unfrozen at least as she walked into the back. So when Allrainne touched her on the shoulder, Arianna managed to not quite jump. How were Cecile and Zorlo so calm with all this? Even after Claire re-emerged from the back to introduce herself and apologize for her unnecessary entry that was then thing mostly on her mind as she looked up at her sister. Allrainne was starting to say something when Arianna tugged on her shirt to stop her before she could start, shaking her head.
