All they watch is stuff like family guy and south park, which i love by the way, but it doesn't really involve you thinking and remembering key terms like in shows with a deep, intricate storyline.
Well, that last sentence isn't really fair to say. I mean, lots of live action shows have deep and interesting plots, like Heroes, Fringe, etc. If you're talking about cartoons, then you're right, South Park and Family Guy are just comedies, and aren't supposed to have great storylines.
As for me, I have one friend that watches anime as far as I know, so we talk about it a bit. I've been trying to get him to watch Code Geass and Haruhi, but he keeps making fun of me and doesn't watch it...

. He watched Naruto and Bleach (which I introduced him to, and he mocked me when I got him to watch THAT).

Thing is, I don't go flaunting the fact that I like anime around, I only ask friends that I trust won't make fun of me, since people can be so judgmental...

I don't either its just the fact that when we watch tv and a commercial for anime stuff comes up they just think it's stupid so I don't really say much about it to them.

When all else fails, raise your voice: It's the next best thing to being right! DON'T SAY IT ISN'T!!!
Sorry, I don't know what to tell you. I mostly talk about anime and stuff like that here, so I'm able to talk about it.

I've never gotten any weird reactions from people when it comes up that I like anime. I do have to explain it sometimes when they don't know what it is. This actually produced a very funny result once; I told classmates from a group project once about my like of anime, and one of the guys went off and Googled "anime". Of course he ended up coming across a lot of hentai pictures. Despite how I reassured him that I'm not into that stuff, I'm sure he and the rest of the group thought I was a pervert from that point on.

I've had something similar to that happen too. Luckily I had enough forsight to tell them ahead of time the difference between anime and hentai.
In fact when I was in college I was in a business class where our final project was to write a business plan about what kind of business we would have made. I picked doing an anime shop. So when I had to do an in-class presentation on it one thing I got asked was about what I would do about "Adult" oriented anime. Luckily I had already accounted for that and told them that I would have an Adults Only section for that kind of stuff and that anyone trying to buy it would have to show their ID first. I ended up getting high marks from our teacher for originality since everyone else was just doing predictable stuff like opening bakeries, resturants and other services. Though I do sometines wish that I had opened an Anime Shop for real. But I know that in the area where I live it wouldn't do very well, cause someone else had opened an anime shop years earlier, but it ended up closeing about about a year and a half latter.

You mean you're not? ._.? *pokes you*
The only people who give me odd looks are strangers who are just looking for something to criticize. Most of the people I really know and hang out with don't care that I watch anime. I do love the fun look I'll sometimes get when a person realizes that the website I work for is an anime one though. That always makes me snerk just a bit.
-_- Oh yeah, I forgot, I really hate how spoilers show up here. It just makes me want to maim something. I really like the black bars that DON'T MOVE DOWN TO THEIR OWN LINE... much better. >>
