No I'm not on anyones team.
Like I said I'm useless.
But if I manage to make some decent (the ones I posted were NOT, I know) translations in time and it proves usefull for the project, then I'm glad I could help!
Why you're keep telling that your useless?
That is a good start though.. translating a game isn't easy.
I translated 3 games in psp already and it was a satisfaction for me .. even though its a poor in translation, gamers/users are okay with it because they can already understand the game in English.

so goodluck :D

The elves have been busy over the night,

Kenma, yes our team is still only me a kuukai there have been people who have asked for the raw data to attempt to help them practice their translation skills, we will decide later if we are going to use their data.

phoenixv5, no one is useless, you are still doing something you want in hope that you gain a skill you want, that is not useless in my mind.

There appears to be a fight going on here, I don't like this, so lets stop that right here and now.

data.cpk -> str\strsub_jpn.ccs

It is encoded in utf-8 that file also includes the database(glossary).
I thought the mails were the messages other characters send to us, now that I got part of it translated (badly), I'm not sure.
Just so to make it easier I have some questions:
1) What are these mails?
2) Who/What is Toritsui?
3) Is it okay to just replace Japanese text with English text?
4) Is it okay to Google translate and change it into a readable/understandable/meaningful form?
Edit: 5) If these are indeed mails (the ones I think they are at least), what denotes the end of one mail and start of another?

1) They are the e-mails just like every other .hack games have.
2) Kuukai?
3) with those files it is slightly ok...
4) What ever you want, it is a tool just remember it is to assist you not to replace you.
5) There are Nulls between the emails.

AFAIK open the file in a text editor (I use Notepad++) and change encoding to UTF-8.
Lol, before I got Jun's reply I was looking for one too!

BTW can I post questions related to translation and status and stuff like that here? (I usually ask a lot of questions!).......
Edit: Maybe a chatroom? You guys think it'll be necessary / required??

It isn't Akashic Records there it's Akashic Line. Phantom, haoma is like elixer or something. If you google the Japanese phrase + site:dothack.wikia.com you'll find it.

Google translate isn't okay. It's wrong for 100% of translations > 3 words. Fixing it is just as hard as translating to begin with.

Maybe I can answer more questions in a couple of weeks when the video is done, it's good people are looking at it but yeah I've been sweating blood and tears to maintain a very high degree of accuracy here. Therefore, to reduce spam we will only accept submissions from people who provide perfect submissions. You can ask questions, but if you say "done" and there's a mistake you're out forever. This is the best way I can think of to maintain quality and shift the editorial burden onto the submitter. At least for now. And again let's wait 2 weeks before the questions, Jun and I are on a final sprint for the video project.

Also it's "Kuukai", I wonder why I get" Kukkai" so much?

Mistranslation....
I thought "Akashikkurain" was for "Akashic Records" (about the only 'Akashic' term I knew, till you mentioned "Akashic Line").....

So it was just another way of saying Liquor? I owe you one, thanks Kuukai. As for the "kk" I'd imagined that its just what people expect to see. That aside here's another list of the items, while I wait for the data. I added in some matches from the games. Also I wasn't sure if there was a naming scheme behind the Chrono Cores

That's why Google (not Translate) is a really useful resource. Both terms are explained on Japanese Wikipedia, the .hack wiki, and loads of other places...

Yey I got a full time job until June 3rd, don't worry that wont effect this project. Also it is my birthday tomorrow that might haha jk, just gonna do my usual thing and go to chapters drink some overpriced coffee and surf the web and browse for Bakuman volume 4, which has not be put on the shelfs yet even though it has been out for 3 weeks now I think.

What I meant by using google translate as a tool is use one of my favorite features of it, it can speak to you, this can be useful for those who cannot read but can translate by ear, I know someone mentioned they can only do that. By no means copy/paste what google says without question. We are working toward a solid and true translation, maybe something that namco bandai will totally rip off and publish on a limited run of UMD but that is a dream. Also I wonder what the legal repercussions from that will be haha.

Kuukai, I feel it would be best if this thread is no longer used a open audition for translating, I am happy some of you want to be involved this much but you are cluttering this thread with something that is essentially a different topic, As I said before offers to help should be directed to us with PMs so should your sample translations (after we get this video done of course). Kuukai if you disagree just say so and I will strike this from the record.

<joke> you think replacing the second u with k is bad, how do you thing people not saying my last name makes me feel. it is JunBansyoya not Jun... </joke>

Also i know you are probably worrying hard about not having any of the final videos yet, trust me I will get them done in time so don't worry.

So can you make a chatroom? (really need one to ask questions about translations)!!!
And btw I'm not gonna submit a translation like THAT.
I need to translate with a tool and then convert it into a good English readable format with all the names/terms corrected.
IF I manage to do that in time, then I will submit it!

I kinda wanna release everything we do with some license like "Rights to use this work granted to Bandai Namco. You may only use this patch if you have purchased a valid copy of .hack//Link. You agree to buy any official U.S. release." Not that it would protect us at all, or even work 90% of the time, but it might just help the series slightly more than not doing it... I've never seen something like that done in the form of an eula either...

I agree completely, at least for the next two weeks.

Awesome. As far as the crashing FMV goes, we had a plan B now I think you've seen, and I got some karaoke manpower (Zer0) for the songs as well.

Maybe in a couple of weeks. Right now we're still trying hard just to meet our deadline.

The problem is that those aren't the only things Google Translate gets wrong...

Jun, if you're available on any sort of im can you pm that to Zer0 and me? We just wanted to touch base on the codec thing. Are you going to be recording in wmv or xvid? For now Zer0's re-encoding the PMF and doing the opening karaoke in xvid since that's easier for him. Sounds like that might be easier to edit overall but opinions are welcome because I am lost.

We already have a dothackers IRC chatroom, it's not like it's sees heavy traffic so it's not as if people can use it for these things.

( Join our Chatroom )

But since this is JunBansyoya's project, you should respect his requests.

Hey guys update progress for the video is going well. Kuukai 2 pruning edits, They are too long for their boxes I figured I would ask you what would make the most sense.

There was indeed log data
indicating an anomalous increase
in the amount of data

The time would place it

We are currently performing
test operations on the Akashic Records

I figured the images would help you know what you are working with,
