Zachary sat quietly as he heard the book speak to him again and sighed. "Not many," was the only response from the man as the moon fell behind some clouds. The mist began to retreat into the ice mage as he removed himself from the water and placed his hand upon his armor. "Others find some sense of value in this kind of affair... but my kind have no friends, no allies. Our existence is purely outrageous... but I'll do what I can to see peace returned." The mage became silent as he placed his pieces of armor back on and picked up his spear.

"Now please, refrain from asking me about that secret... the others mustn't know... it would make them illogical."

"Perhaps we, as good friends and family, should help the good lord's designs along and arrange for their paths to cross. I am ashamed to say that my gentle nudging tonight did not yield results. As for your question. How old am I? Apologies, I've forgotten the exact date it's become muddled after so much blood, but I will say that I personally remember when percussion cap firearms were new. My mistress had me purchase- apologies that is not your business. How old did you believe me to be? Actually, how old do people in general believe me to be?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.

Natasha: well you don't hide it so well at times they way you speak and act is Certaintly more noble and wiser than most people of our time but wow that's super old I guess it's a good thing I prefer older men isn't it anyway I should t keep you after all raven must be wondering where you are at this time he must be wondering why its taking you so long ( she smiles playfully at melanie)

Raven: ( answers the door to find the messenger from earlier) what do you need?

Messenger: the commander wants you to come to his office as soon as possible

Raven: allright tell him I'll be right there ( as the messenger runs off he sits down briefly) they better not be sending me out again...

"I make no effort to try and hide my age. As for my behavior," Melanie leaned in and held his lips just above her neck, sending a shiver down her spine with his cold breath. "Maybe I should try being charming, manipulative, and caring only for the blood of others like a vampire?" He let his lips fall on her neck and rows of fangs prickled her skin, then his flesh became hot and he suddenly grabbed her by the wrists and pinned her against the wall a few inches off the ground facing his predatory cat eyes. "Or should I perhaps succumb to my animalistic tendencies and be forceful and territorial?" It felt as though he was trying to push her through the stones behind her with nothing but his neck muscles as he covered her mouth with his and his free hand ran from her thigh up under her shirt to the small of her back and then he pulled back suddenly and gently lowered her to the ground as the fur retreated. "I request that you not tempt me like that, lady Natasha. I can completely lose control and I have no desire to feast upon people, least of all those close to my master." The butler bowed his head low, "I apologize for my behavior, my lady, please excuse me." Melanie hurried away quickly; anger at himself apparent with every step.

Melanie's shadow stretched out on the table in front of Raven. The butler sensed a change in the atmosphere. "Master, I apologize for disappearing on you like that. What has happened?"

Raven: ( he sniffs the air as he immediately recognizes the scent) your breath Stinks..( he gets up as he walks past Melanie obviously dodging the question of "what happened" ) we need Togo to Hq they want me to attend a meeting I want you to accompany me ( he walks out the door) your gonn fill me in on how your little date went with Natasha I the way there

"Of course, Master Raven." He fell into step with him and answered the question. "I did not have a date with Lady Natasha. You know I have no intention of getting involved with anybody like that." Melanie's eyes were downcast, "Being a butler is so ingrained into my being that I can control myself when I am performing those duties, but if I try to be with somebody... There are too many powerful emotions vying for dominance to control and they're all along the same vein so I can't just ignore the dangerous ones. The vampire wants to kiss and suck her blood human wants to kiss her and that gets my heart pumping which invariably leads to the tiger coming out, and the tiger wants to kiss, bite, tear, throw, crush, and many other things, and to get under control I have to stop my heart which brings the vampire back out. Believe me, I've tried before and it always ends the same way, with me covered in blood."

Melanie finally looked back up. "Raven, do you avoid Natasha's sister because you hate yourself? Just as I avoid relationships because I loathe my own existence too? Or am I the only one who would go so far as to exile myself to the desert to try and destroy myself?"
