Re: The Rift
Hayate pulled a small handheld computer from one of the many pockets inside of his coat, synchronizing it with communications and tracking signal on the vehicles, pulling a headset out and putting it on and listening to the chatter for a moment. He then thought for a moment, pulling another small device from inside of the coat and attaching it to the pommel stone on Ascalon. "Testing!" Hayate grinned as Ascalon's voice projected through the connection. "Connection Stable." Hayate shook his head, looking up at Jacques and Wesley. "No offense, but I can follow by 'porting, for the time being. I'm only going a hundred yards at a time, so I can keep up." He grinned, putting a set of goggles with amber lenses over his eyes. "Only way I'm going to keep my powers from binding up completely is by using them." He vanished into thin air, flicking along behind.

"We've gotta head out now!" Wes pranced up to Hibiki and whinnied. "Where are we going?" Hibiki asked, as he mounted Wes, then staring at the screen. "Somewhere REALLY REALLY REALLY fun, lots of fighting experience." Hibiki stared blankly at the screen half expecting Wes to say 'Just kidding!' or 'Gotcha!' "Are you serious?" "Yeah like totally! And I've never seen you guys fig- I've never seen a fight at all! I wanna see how you do compared to the rest of the group." Hibiki sighed and looked to the sky, "He's tough, but can he take sonic attacks?" Hibiki thought to himself as he headed out towards the rest of the group. "Want me to look him up on the the data files? I'm sure I can find something on him~" Wes said giving off a whistle at the end of his sentence and twirling his fingers around, projecting himself on Hibiki's shoulder
Re: The Rift
Jacky smiled as she heard Kenpachi's explanation but grew sad at the last part. " I know kiva; I just got sad when I heard Kenny say that. I remeber when i was being experimented on everyone at the lab I was kept in looked at me as different. I read the minds of those who took care of me. It was horrible! All the wanted was to use me for..their own perverted urges. I grew to hate them. I was being taken advantage of but there was not a thing I could do. I was so weak; I thought if only I could use my powers but..they..never..worked..often! But what can I do against someone like that boy? You saw it! He scared me and I acted like a defenseless child!!" Jacklyn said as she let out a scream and covered her hands with her face.
She then started to cry tears falling and running down her neck. It would seem Kenpachi's statement had stirred unwanted memories in the girl. Why is it everyone around me I ever come to love gets hurt? I'm never able to protect them.I just don't want to lose you kenny. Jacky thought as the tears kept falling.

Re: The Rift
Kenpachi was taken aback by Jacklyn's sudden breakdown, he hadn't said anything to upset her had he? He looked to Kiva questioningly. The AI displayed the last thing Kenpachi had said. Ohhhhh, well crap. "Look, Jacklyn, it's okay now." He handed controls over to Kiva and made certain that the commline would only go to and from Kiva and none of what was going on would be transmitted. Nobody else needed to hear this. She deserved some bloody respect, not anyone hearing her in a moment of weakness. Well Ken, you sure know how to pick 'em, don't ya? Well, you're the one that dragged her along. You could have let any of the others drive her, or let her drive herself, but no you had to go and take her.
Ken wrapped his arms around Jacklyn. "Those days are over, the nightmare is over. You're not weak anymore. You're strong and nobody can take that from you. In fact, you're frighteningly powerful. But you know what?" He pulled out his piece of rope and placed it in her hands as he lowered them from her face and pulled her close. "You don't frighten me. I trust you, with my life. When push comes to shove, I know that you will be there to save me." He wiped a tear from her face. "Powers or no powers. Whether the enemy be that boy, a horde of aberrations, or the devil himself."
She's been hurt so much, how...how has she stayed together after all she's been through. God, how could I have done that to so many people. Why did the monster have to be the one to survive? Why couldn't it have been one of the people who actually deserved to live. One of the people who survived the horrors and rebuilt their lives, only to have it all snatched away and the sadist be the one left standing.

Re: The Rift
Hayate kept pace with the group's vehicles, appearing and disappearing every few hundred meters. He stopped to rest after getting a bit ahead of them. He thought at the spirit within his head. So, this isn't our Earth, I take it? Ascalon replied back, almost immediately. No. Ours is mostly intact. This one is... broken. It's like it's bonds to the other Planes of Existance have been cut.
Meaning that my connection to Aether has been cut?
Yes and no. Well, mostly. It's there, barely. There's not enough coming in to use in a fight if you burn out the Aether you have stored. In fact, there's barely enough to force your body to heal itself if you become incapacitated or mortally injured. I think you could survive and regenerate a broken neck, but a fatal or severe gunshot wound is out of the question, and so is limb regeneration. So, avoid getting shot or having anything cut off, until we can find out how to fix the connection.
Hayate stopped, "listening". The whisper of the Aether was almost silent, but he could hear a "Well" ahead of them.
You hear that? Think we could use it to recharge? Store more of the Aether up?
It's possible.

Re: The Rift
Jacklyn became overwhelmed with emotion and without thinking wrapped her arms around Kenpachi. " It makes me happy to hear you say that. It's nice to feel loved for once. Your pretty great you know that?" Jacky said as she blushed and planted a kiss on Kenny's cheek. She then turned away a bright blush on her face appeared. "I'm sorry I...shouldn't have done that." After saying this Jacky ducked her face to try and hide her blush. A lone tear fell from her eye. Stupid Dr. Sue and her shot..what did she do to me? I bet Kenny hates me now! Jacky ten hit her fist against the truck window. Shortly after warm feelings rushed through her body. A slight gasp came from Jacky and her blush got brighter. "Kenny what's happening to me?" Jacky said as she looked at Kenpachi. A full on blush was on her face.

Wes sighed and looked forward, "It'd be really easy to look up his files! We don't even need to worry about fake names and stuff!" "It doesn't matter I trust him..." Wes looked at Hibiki and Wes just shrugged it off, "How far are we, I don't see anyone" "Hey Sharkie...can I talk to you?" Wes said looking completely serious. "You're name isn't your real name, and um...well..." Hibiki looked at Wes and sighed, "Where would you like me to start Wesley?" Hibiki said looking a bit angry. "Um...Tell me about yourself! Please?"
Re: The Rift
Kenpachi put a hand to his cheek and slowly pulled it down almost digging his fingernails into his skin, as if trying to tear away both the flesh and the kiss with it. It was hard to tell if it was out of aggravation or if there was some other reason. He looked at his hand and thought, [/i]No, you really shouldn't have.[/i] He turned to Jacklyn and cracked a smile, "It's called blushing. All of your blood rushes to the surface to try and cool off. It's fairly normal given the heat." His tone and manner were joking, and he turned the air conditioner up a little and focused on the road. Kiva gave him a glare on his headset which he made no outward reaction to.
Why am I doing this? It's not healthy. If I end it now worst case I'll probably get tossed out the window, unless she's as unstable as some of those reports say. In which case...it won't matter whether I end it now or after things have developed. Fortunately, I don't need to worry about that right now, there's killing to be done. Kenpachi's eyes narrowed and his voice became quiet. "Ms. Derentas, we will be executing an operation soon. Will you please retrieve a pair of twin SMGs, each loaded with a magazine, not hollow points, for me. As well as whatever armament you wish to use yourself. Kiva, be prepared to take the wheel if we begin hostilities while still driving. I will be engaging the enemy in hand-to-hand combat."
The changes were in part a mask because he did not want to say anything that might set Jacklyn off, but he also didn't want to say anything that might make the situation worse. Of course, the other reason for the change was due to the first bit of 'work' he'd had in quite a while. He began reviewing all known abomination types, in particular the ones that either had to be dealt with by a psychic or the ones that could not be dealt with by psychics. He hid a knife up his sleeve, several long needles behind his shin guard, and pulled a rope across his chest. The knife was for on the off chance he couldn't just beat something to death, the needles would make good emergency throwing weapons, and you always needed some good strong rope the only things that might be more omni-useful are duct tape and your towel.

((OOC: This RP is far from forgotten. I've merely been trying to take a back seat even though I am the author. I wanted to see where people would take the story. See what twists I could put in as everything evolved and progressed. Think of me as the GM in a game of D&D. I watch, I listen, I throw the unexpected at you. EDITED.))
Mike had been keeping slightly behind Ken's truck and roughly even with Hibiki and Wes. He had been watching the new guy phase and teleport at regular intervals keeping up with the vehicles. It was a fascinating ability and it had taken his mind off of the upcomming tear ... at least slightly. Lilith had been sitting on the side of Mike's visor for a while and had been fidgeting ever since she informed him of the tear. "You know for a program you act more human than most people I have encountered. Of course for the last ten years most of the humans I have met are only interested in dissecting me." Lilith kept fidgeting, seemingly ignoring Mike. "My father always told me that it's impolite to ignore someone. Even if you don't want to talk to a person you should at least acknowledge them." Lilith continued her fidgeting and Mike grew silent for a few minutes.
Suddenly Mike felt different. The bike felt different. The entire world felt different. Finally Lilith spoke, "The tear is just ahead. Sixty seconds until contact." "Here? But this is the middle of an old city! Why the hell would it be here? Shouldn't it be around, I don't know, an old science facility or something?" "It is unknown why but the tears seem to appear at random locations ... 20 seconds." Lilith sent a warning to all the others about their proximity to the tear. Mike turned a corner and slowed down as he stared at what looked like a large jagged piece of blue energy floating motionless in the air. The air around the tear itself was distorted. It almost looked like reality itself was being pulled in and at the same time pushed back out. It was one of the strangest things he had ever seen. And he had seen some strange things.
Mike dismounted the bike and took off his helmet before walking up to the tear. He could 'feel' pulses comming from it. Each pulse carrying with it a sense of euphoria and power. It was intoxicating. Before he could stop himself he reached a hand out to touch the tear. "DON'T!!" Lilith screamed. It was just enough to snap Mike out of whatever kind of trance he was in and dodge as a giant blade came down in front of his hand. As he pulled back a sweeping kick came at his face. Mike put up his right arm to block the kick and was shoved back a good thirty feet from the impact. It was an abomination. It had been on the rooftop of the closest building and had come down with it's blade while Mike and the others were distracted.
Mike drew his handguns and began unloading their clips in to the thing. It took a good amount of ammo but it finally dropped. "Is that all?" Mike's challenge echoed through the empty city ruins. It only took a couple of seconds before more appeared. They came around corners, out of nearby buildings, some even out from under the rubble laying nearby. "Time to work off some of the debt you bastards owe me! TEN YEARS WORTH!!" He yelled as he reloaded his weapons and himself and the others began fighting the hundred-sum group that had come to face them.
((OOC: May I present the form of the most common rank-and-file Abomination. These make up about 45% of all abominations. http://prototype91.deviantart.com/art/P ... e+arm&qo=0 . The blade can be on either arm or there can be no blade. They rely more on numbers as they are only about 3x tougher than a human. This kind of abomination also only has PHYSICAL ability. There is a rare variant with fingers like blades. That kind is faster, stronger, smarter, and far more powerful. Think mini-boss.))

Re: The Rift
Kenpachi felt the pull towards the tear as well, but rather than become entranced by it he grew weary. Distraction was a basic part of an operation after all and he hit the ebrake and spun the truck around. One of the abominations dropped in front of them and Ken peppered it's body with rounds. No obvious weak points, good thing I opted for not hollow points. He put the truck in reverse and concentrated fire on it's chest, apparently enough damage was done to drop it, but it took more bullets than he liked. He looked up at another coming down from above and concentrated the rest of the mag on it's skull. When it hit the dirt it didn't keep moving which made Ken a little more happy.
He tossed the gun aside and grabbed the other one. "Kiva, keep the truck safe." Ken hopped out the window and intercepted another that was coming down on the truck, rolling with it's slice and narrowly avoiding damage and then kicking it into a building. He dropped three more of the abominations before he ran out of bullets and then he tossed the empty magazine to keep another from getting close to his truck. "That is my truck, don't you dare touch it." He parried another slice with the gun, and got both it and his arm cut. About as sharp as I thought. Ken crippled a knee and then brought both fists down on the back of it's head and just for good measure he snapped it's neck and shattered it's back. He rolled to the side and into the feet of another, but managed to avoid it's blade. He then grabbed it's wrists and began using it to defend from and attack it's brethren.

Re: The Rift
Hayate came out of the shift a few meters back from the vehicle group grimacing as he felt the pulsations from the tear... Corrosive, completely different from the steady stream that he normally associated with the Aether. He saw the tear, and his face set in a disturbed state for a moment, before he shook his head. Whatever had happened to this world, it had essentially destroyed it. The people were here, as was the plane of existence itself... But the damage had been done. He sighed, closing his eyes for a few moments before he heard Mike open fire on the creatures, his eyes snapping open, recognizing the type of weapons fire... but not yet focusing. .44 Magnum... Desert Eagle? He forced himself to focus on the task at hand. Monsters. Scratch that, these things looked like full blown Eldritch Abominations. He shifted above the fight, coming out in mid air, landing on one of the thing's shoulders, grabbing the head in a break hold and twisting... Perfect. It dropped like a stone, and he drew his sword from his back. Time to go to work.

Hibiki didn't have the luxury of being entranced by the tear, his late arrive at the scene force him to be knocked off Wes by an abomination. Luckily, he'd unsheathed his sword in time to block a fatal blow. "Wes, Get to safety!" Hibiki looked around, his allies were closer to the tear than he, but he still had a sufficient amount of abominations to fight to the death with. "This is the first time I've ever been in battle..." Hibiki's calm demeanor faded away rapidly. He blocked another Abomination's attack, but it's power was overwhelming. "N-no-no-no..." He closed his eyes and turned to the side, the abomination's blade-arm crashing down beside him. He quickly turned around and then jumped back, he then levitated into the the air, thinking he'd evaded their grasp. His sword was free from his hand, but he kept it close to him levitated by his powers. He reached for his tuning fork, looking at the creatures fearfully.

(OOC: Hi everyone! Sorry I've been inactive for so long! Work has kept me busy and i just got back a few days ago from a trip to see my gf who I met online. She lives in Utah! Pm me for details on the trip!
Im back now tho unless someone says otherwise! ^-^ )
Jacky blushed brighter when Kenpachi explained what was happening to her. "I like blushing. It makes me feel funny!" Jacky said with a giggle. When Kenny told her to get the weapons for him she snapped out her daze and did so. A few minutes after this her and kenny were swept up in the fight with the abominations. Jacky grew angry when she saw one of them almost bite Kenny's arm and she jumped out of the truck springing into action. "Leave him alone!! He's MY only friend!!" Jacky exclaimed as she took out a pair of gold colored shuriken and threw them roughly at one of the abominations. It bounced off the creature's back while the other hit its skull making it walk as if in a daze. "Kenny! I got one!" Jacky said as she hopped up and down in excitement.
However Jacky's guard had been let down in this moment and an abomination jumped her from behind and bit her left arm. Jacky let out a cry of pain and struggled against the beast. "Let me go!! Ow!! Your hurting me!! let go of MY arm!!" Jacky exclaimed as she screamed at the abomination using her sonic pitch to cut the abomination. Her screams died down after ten minutes as she began to bleed from her arm and she became dizzy. Her eyes fluttered close and she went limp in the Abomination's grip. Her shuriken which had been flying around hitting monsters fell to the ground with a thud. A lone tear fell down Jacky's face as she slipped into unconsciousness.

Re: The Rift
Over the course of the fight his meat shield had been cut to ribbons leaving only the blade, which as just what he had been hoping for. He wielded the giant "sword" with deadly efficiency. He was distracted momentarily by the shuriken flying about, but he then realized it was Jacklyn's. When the shuriken dropped to the ground he rocketed up into the air, jamming the blade through a flying abomination's gullet. He swung up on top of it and surveyed the battlefield during the brief moment before it began falling out of the sky. "Come on, I brought you so you're my responsibility, so where? Where are you?" He saw a grouping of abominations that weren't getting massacred and decided that was most likely her. He jumped to the side of a building and sprinted along it's side, leaving craters with each step as he pushed his body to go faster.
Ken leaped from the final building and roundhouse kicked one abomination through two others and cannon balled himself into a fourth, stopping himself next to Jacklyn. He elbowed the one that had served as his airbag, he had leaped with such force that he had dislocated his other arm. "Only one wound of note, that's good. But how are we going to get out of here?" He could run, sure, even with her he'd probably outrun them all, but there were so many, he wasn't sure he could get her to safety before a speeder caught up and then he wouldn't be able to fight properly. He took in a deep breath and knelt on the ground next to her. "Be as an antelope." Everything within a ten meter radius immediately exploded and afterward a wall of fire was all that remained in the area. Ken would have to be careful to watch out for flyers, and it would be best not to do such an intense blast again, not so close to Jacklyn at least. She looked like she had just spent half an hour getting a sunburn.
Ken leaned towards the ground and slammed his shoulder back into place, gritting his teeth to keep from screaming. He swung his arm around a couple times and lifted her up. "Michael, everyone, Jacklyn's gotten herself injured. I'm going to get her to the truck. Be careful out there." It was tiring to move while he kept the flame wall up and at this intensity his other abilities were much weakened, but he didn't have much choice. He wouldn't be able to fight properly against these things with her there. Never fight with the one you're trying to protect nearby, that was rule one for good bodyguards. So many times he had killed the bodyguard just for being stupid and spared a few that he could, out of respect. Several abominations came in from above and were met by a tornado of flames. He looked down at her wound, it was still bleeding and it would take him longer to get back to Kiva than he had thought and he didn't believe he would be able to properly bandage it and stop the bleeding in time at this rate. Flames whirled around her wound. It would leave a scar, and some excess damage, but she wouldn't bleed out at least.

He could run, sure, even with her he'd probably outrun them all, but there were so many, he wasn't sure he could get her to safety before a speeder caught up and then he wouldn't be able to fight properly.

Re: The Rift
Mike had forgone his guns in leu of his sword, bare hands, and psychic powers. Against those three the abominations fell one after another. Three of them leapt over the group he was facing and attempted to attack. With a wave of his free hand all three were sent flying in to the side of the nearest building. Another group came up from behind him and tried to catch him by surprise. Mike swung his sword in a full three sixty around himself killing or seriously injuring any it came in contact with.
He found himself thouroughly enjoying himself as he cut down one after another "Come on. Come on! COME ON COME ON COME ON!!" Soon he was losing himself to the fight. He simply wanted to kill more and more of them. Mike dropped his sword and grabbed the two nearest to him and threw them in to a wall, crushing their heads in the process. Some of the ones without sword arms grabbed hold of him as many with blades rushed him. He sent out a psychic pulse, throwing all around him away and killing those within twenty feet of himself. That is of course until he look at his right arm and saw one of the smaller ones still holding on to him, obviously still alive. Mike grabbed it by the head and lifted it off the ground squeezing tighter and tighter. "THIS IS YOUR FAULT! YOU MADE ME THIS THING!" The armor covering it's face broke, Mike immediatly dropped it and backed away.
A CHILD! It was a child! And not just any child. It was a little girl he had met when he was trying to get to his father's funeral. She had walked out in to the street to get her hat that had blown in to it. Mike was trying to be quick but also inconspicuous as he had made his way to the funeral when he saw the girl ... And the truck that was about to hit her. Without even thinking Mike had raced out and got her out of the way just in time. "Hey. I've already got one funeral to attend today. Don't make me have to go to two okay?" Mike was chastising her but also trying to be calm. "You can replace a hat, but you can't replace a life. You understand?" She had nodded as Mike helped her stand up. "Good. Now go home. I'm sure your parents are worried about you." He patted her on the head and disappeared in to the crowd of people that had gathered to see what happened.
Had he done this? When he touched her did he take her soul energy without even realising it? What about the other people he had bumped against in that crowd? On the sidewalk? Was this why everyone wore gloves at the facility? Did comming in to contact with him cause someone to become an abomination?
The girl was getting back up now. She staggered towards him. When she got back to him she grabbed his arm again. But this time he was aware of what was happening and not drunk on bloodlust. She was tugging on his arm. Trying to pull him towards an empty building. Some bullets went whizzing by her head. Mike grabbed her like he meant to smash her against a nearby wall but at the last second he spun and used his own body as a battering ram and went through the wall with the girl in his arms. He hit the floor inside hard. Despite her small size her mass seemed to be high which meant she weighed more than she looked ... like him. He helped her stand up. "This is becomming a habit." He said as he patted her head. "Stay here and stay hidden. I wont let them find you." Mike was heading back out the door when he heard her voice for the first time, "Thank you." without turning around he gave her a thumbs up and went back in to battle.

Re: The Rift
Hibiki through the tuning fork down and followed it, grabbing onto his sword, as it hit the ground he followed and slammed his blade into the ground, creating to massive sound waves that killed all the abominations within 25 meters of him, both on and above the ground. He looked down and picked up the tuning fork, happy to see it was in good condition. However, it didn't take very long until he'd be surrounded by more abominations. "They just keep coming back, don't they?" He was calmer now and opened his palm wide, closing his eyes; he lifted an abomination off its feet and lifted it up high. "How strong are my psychic abilities?" He then opened his eyes, and glared at the monster, watching it squirm, then suddenly its armor cracked and its inner organs fell out. "W-What?" He looked at the other abominations, unfazed by his attack and picked up another one, forcing its insides to explode as well. "Well then, one at a time I can take them out easily, but like this...." he swung his sword around and slammed it into the ground, killing anything within 10 meters, and sending back anything within 15.

Re: The Rift
Kid! You're running low already, and at this point, you have no way to recharge the Aether you have stored up!
Hayate lashed out yet again, a short spike of Aether vivisecting the Abomination he attacked.
WELL, WE'D BETTER FREAKING FIND A WAY, HADN'T WE?
No ****!
Hayate drew his sword from his back, decapitating the nearest monster, then spinning and impaling another, kicking it from the blade, and shouldering it, looking around as he heard the shout from Kenpachi, 'porting to his position.
"Go, I'll cover you!"
He drew the Warhawk .65 from his hip, double tapping each of the nearest Abominations, popping the spent clip, and slapping in a new one in a short movement, levelling the handgun back at the abominations and repeating the measure.
I've got it!
Hayate continued the firing and reloading, shoving the spent clips into various pockets, replying back.
What? You got what?
How to recharge your Aether Supply, you idiot! The Tear, there's an underlying connection there, I think you could tap into it, if you get close enough!
A grin crossed his face as he glanced back to Kenpachi moving Jacky towards the truck.
How close do I have to get?

Re: The Rift
Ken saw Hayate's grin and his own mouth started to quirk into one. None of that. We work before we play. He narrowed his eyes and watched Hayate for a moment longer, he didn't like leaving his back to this man, but he had little choice at the moment. "Kiva, I need you, now." "Ok, just promise not to be mad." "I promise not to be mad, at you." "Good enough." Kiva barreled through the abominations that remained between them and Ken hopped in the back, cutting the flames just in time to avoid peeling the paint. Those bloody armored punks, they scratched my truck. I'll kill every last one of them.
"Kiva, MOVE!" "I'm on it, I'm on it. Keep your shirt on! Or take it off, I don't really care right now." Kenpachi opened up the boxes and took out a .50 caliber machine gun. "Kenny, should you really be getting that out? What about her ears." "It's the only size I brought." "Way to go Mr. Elite Assassin. Shouldn't you always be prepared or something?" Out of mild consideration, he tore a couple pieces off Jacklyn's sleeve and stuffed them in her ears, it wasn't much but it might lessen the sound by a decibel or two. "Do I look like a boyscout to you?" He couldn't hear her reply over the sound of the gun. Guns are so boring, let's use the sword.
"KIVA, GET US CLOSER TO THAT NEW GUY." He wasn't entirely certain Kiva had understood his shouts, but she was taking him deeper into the fray. Trust him or not, he certainly wouldn't let himself be indebted to this person, persons? Whoever and whatever he was. And the fifty was tearing through these guys about as well as one would expect it to. He gauged that this belt would run out about the time he caught up with Hayate, and at that point he would switch over to an assault rifle, and possibly bail out. It really depended on if Jacklyn woke up between now and then.

Re: The Rift
You're going to have to get direct contact with the Tear.
WHAT!?
Told you that you wouldn't like it. Go, dammit, while they're pinned down!
Hayate swore, taking off running towards the hole in the air, coming directly up to it, and stopping, fidgeting. Are you absolutely sure this is going to work?
Ninety percent sure...
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU'RE WRONG?
Your soul gets torn apart, and cast into oblivion, and essentually, you die.
That's reassuring. Congradulations, jackass.
He plunged his hand into the tear.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Roaring. In his head. The Aether! A small connection, but strong, just under the surface... It would charge some of his power back up, and store more away. He tapped into it and pulled his hand loose from the tear.
Alright! Now, we do this our way!
Let's rock.
He turned to the abomination behind him, swinging one arm up, grinning savagely as the glyphs on his skin fired to life, the color of his eyes washing out as the power came to life.
He spoke, his voice inhuman. "My turn."
He opened fire on the abomination, lashing out, burning through the abominations within range.
