Few Questions for those who've played.
A "shadow", basically.
I think there probably is a Cubia to the 8 epitaph PCs, mainly because
Jun essentially died to prevent it...
And since Kite is the "natural" enemy of the waves, it kinda makes sense. But I don't see why it would have data drain, and also use it on innocents, I think something else is going on there... AIDA, maybe...

After hearing this Antithesis theory, I can't help but agree that Tri-Edge does fit that ideal. Though the fact that he was destroyed in the first of three games suggests that he was either a 'clone' or that he is one of several separate characters.
There are several reasons to doubt this 'Tri-Edge the Antithesis' theory, for a start Cubia hunted down solely Kite and the Bracelet, while Tri-Edge attacks players at random.
Tri-Edge also appears apparently at random in Roots, with no sign of being activated by a particular event. He is also treated as an AIDA by the Administration, rather than a protection programme. Finally, he infects areas that he has been to, leaving his mark, draining and damaging data...more like the Phases that the Infinity Eight themselves.
*For those that do not wish to read the spoiler, I state that if this theory is true, then there are either a number of Tri-Edges, or that Tri-Edge is one of several characters that are part of the same Antithesis programme.

Kuukai, that is not how Jun died. The reason of his death is never stated. The terminal disc hinted that is mor likely killed in real life.
As for the Cubia theory, there is a one big mistake in Jun's theory. It is not just an anithesis, but also oen fo Harold's scenario. Cubia's relevance lies in preparing the "darkest before dawn" moment for the ending of the R1 events. Let it be a anti-thesis of the bracelete is just an efficient way fo doing it.
If we have to assume Tri-Edg is a Cubia like existence, we can't just take it solely as a counter to the 8 Phases PCs, rather the ong term result that the PCs well cause in general. The anit-thesis does not exist to be a nemesis of a specfic entity, rather it is there to build up certain scenario for desird ending.
For example, if we assume AIDA is indeed Aura's security system, and she created Tri-Edge. Then Tri-Edge infecting areas with his mark can be explained as opening AIDA pathways for Aura. And his draining of PCs then can be intepretated as eliminating potential 8 Phases PC users. His entire action than can be interprete as preparing a specific scenario of Infinity 8 vs. AIDA.

I believe Tri-Edge is the antithesis to the Epitaph Weilders. Perhaps when the fake Tarvos was activated and the fire happened, some of the fake Tarvos data went into Kite's Data, corrupting it to make an antithesis of the Phases? ^^ Also, Tri-Edge might attack random players to eliminate people with the potential to weild the Avatars.
This would also explain why Pai was unable to control Tarvos. After the fake Tarvos was used, Jun told Reika (who's CLEARLY Pai) to use Tarvos and do the right thing and blah blah blah. But Reika didn't have what it takes, and Tarvos overpowered her.

I said he "essentially" died because of it. Maybe they didn't kill him, but his inability to meet Reiko directly illustrates how betraying the company has ruined his life and put him in great danger (he knew what he was getting into and yet he still did it was my point, hence he was certain it was important). This is the "dark power" of CCsha he mentions from the beginning. I really wouldn't be surprised if they killed him.
I'm still playing, but at least at this point in the game Haseo's led to believe that out of the four epitaph PCs he actually knows about (Kuhn, Pai, himself, and Endrance), Endrance is the only one who can fully control it (As Ovan puts it, "He has something you don't have enough of. I'm sure you know what it is"; and as Endrance puts it, "Pathetic. You have no 'power'.")... Pai and Kuhn both confess to not being able to, and he can't at all...

He didn't betrayed, but fired. And he didn't mention anyone trying to kill him until Ovan appeared. I see CC has reason to kill him, but his life is only in danger when Ovan appeared makes me wonder. He sounds practically safe until the Last Day of The World part. Outside trying to hide Tarvos from CC. So I'll leave it in doubt until we know it is CC or Ovan killed him.
As for Endrance's control over his Avatar. If he is indeed Elk, then there is no reason why he can't ccontrol her. Mia would never hurt Elk, never. But I was lead to believe that endrance's avatar has no emory of Mia and what so ever. As Endrance is calling the AIDA cat Mia, not the avatar. I guess Macha lost its memory of being Mia when it is made in avatar, and Endrace is using AIDA to preserve Mia's memory. That might expalin why Endrance deliberatly let stay curropted by the AIDA.

The reason he's afraid of Ovan is because all his hard work to save the day just went down the toilet. Ovan's activities and added illegal data clearly show he knows too much, and he's working against everything Jun was working for. In his words: "everything's going to happen all over again"... I don't think he has fear for his personal safety from Ovan in the slightest, just fear for this man who came out of nowhere just to grant his greatest nightmare...
Endrance as only referred to the avatar as "her", I believe (gender-specifically)...

That brings me to another theory I have in mind, though, might be inaccurate as hell.
The guess is that the AIDA cat IS his avatar. As whenever Endrace is fighting, the cat is always not on his shoulder. The cat is also missing during the entier Avatar fight sequence. Then there is the thing that Endrance's avatar is constantly AIDA infected... Yeah AIDA Cat=Avatar, I know this sounds pretty wrong, but I think you can see where I am comign from with this.

When he is not using Avatar.Kuukai wrote:It's on his shoulder in the arena...
During the scene when Haseo and Endrance fight in the avatar space, the cat is nowhere to be seen.
I even wonder Endrance's line "Where is here? Why you don't exists in this world?" is a comment about the cat being missing during the fight.
Of course, I fear that si only due to graphic limitation, not the cat really isn't there.
No, the AIDA cat is completly visable by other people.VKV wrote:Even tought it is his shoulder in the arena, other's can't see her right?
Yeah, the cat's visible to everyone. But no, what I mean is that when Endrance uses the avatar on the dudes in the arena, the cat is still on his shoulder. Also, "why aren't you in this world" is a much stronger statement than what you'd say for a disappeared cat... (haven't gotten that far though, so maybe you're right, all I knows is the arean thing)
Edit: turns out I'm wrong, the cat disappears when he uses the avatar...
Huh? That's kinda off-topic, but no. Square Enix games, at least, suck at that since they use up so much space...-karuma- wrote:is it possible to play the video's in japanese audio, not talking about GU (no nglish release yet) here but in all games from Japan that had an English release like Kingdom Herats etc.

One thing I couldn't help but notice is that out of all the AIDA in .hack//GU, Tri-Edge was the only one that did not exude that black matter.
The matter appears to be the essence of AIDA, its given off by Endrance, an AIDA-PC, the first AIDA you fight; Anna, Endrance's cat when it was destroyed, and appears as an independant AIDA in itself, attacking Pai to infect her, for example.
The fact that Tri-Edge does not give off this AIDA suggests that he is separate from the rest.
I also wonder what Atoli's apparent sensitivity to AIDA means, she falls unconscious briefly when we first see Anna and was apparently hypnotised by the AIDA in the Train Station Lockers. What would this mean?
