Haha, that made me laugh.

I guess we could... just translate the important ones, or something.

There's actually a little more that should be translated if you finish X'over.

I made an account on this forum to thank you for this patch ^^
I'm glad that the effort to fully translate the game has not disappeared.
If there is anything you would like me to test out, let me know. I will be playing the v1.1 patch for now.

Edit: When you press start to skip a scene, the buttons are translated but not the message. Also during the "Cooperating with partner" tutorial at the very beginning, the text in a dialog box is cut off on the side.

Edit: Text cut off before flashback scene:

Edit: Might be a good idea to translate the dialog boxes during the beginning that tell you how to save and stuff. Unfortunately after my first play through, I didn't realize that i had to press triangle to save (some games save automatically). I guess that's my own fault for not being observant enough to see the top right corner saying "^:Save" but it would have been nice if those instructions to save were translated.

Note: I really hope that the v2 patch will have the sword skills/acts translated as well. Can't wait to see the results.

Ya just the unknown ep unlock words & character unlock ones'd be enough. Anyways I just finished finished X'over earlier, and EoT / Intergration just now... and noticed nothing more translated. I dun think I missed it but just incase could ya fill me in on what you were hinting at?

Just a quick update. The translation is slowly progressing. Based on number of files completed as well as amount of large list files partially translated, I'd estimate progress at 15%-20% of the game done.

Animated scenes: 100% (81/81 Files)
Standard Dialogue: 15%-20% (403/2029 Files)
Items/Extras/E-Mails: 10%-15% (12/22 Files. The remaining files are the largest in the game. Therefore, they count for a larger percentage.)

That gives you an idea of the amount of work that's needed to finish this. We'll keep you posted.

"Standard Dialogue: 15%-20% (403/2029 Files)"

I knew there was alot of dialogue but wow... so many files @_@

400 outta 2000 is a good sized chunk an it'll be even higher by the time the next patch drops huh? 15 to 20% done overall may sound low, but when ya take out alot of fluff (fskits, area pc dialogue, music/wallpaper descriptions, etc) I'd imagine the percentage completed is at least abit higher!

Do ya know if any compression tests have been done yet ta see if it stabilizes the game?

Oh so you are going for 100% translation, I though it was only story-wise translation. Well now I'm even more excited :D

Ultimately we'll be going for 100% but this will be over a few release versions.

Without all the extras, the game is closer to 25%-30% in terms of story.

I haven't heard anything about the tests. We're all a little wrapped with stuff right now, so as far as I know these tests have not been done. I'd do them, but I don't know how. Haha.

I hadn't seen much on here and the predicted release dates on here were off by over a year more of the time so I got scared no one was still working on this. Glad to findout you guys are. The only other english patch I've seen just did menu and I'm assume they gave up on that one. This game is the only reason I keep my PSP around. I'm hoping someone finally finishes translating it so I can finally play it. Well good luck wiht you work. I know there are thosands of people hoping you finish it.

I just ran the numbers before the last pause so it's going to be more on the 14-15% side when you take partial files into account. But what really matters is the story, and like Kazetrigger said we have a lot more of that done. Compression is something Jun needs to look at.

It should be included in the next release.

"Done" is a pretty relative term, though. I think you'll have just as much fun playing it when it's at "60%" or so. As I mentioned in another post, the original games were only about 80% translated, considering they took out parody mode.

Hey people,

I am asking for help now, I need to know some details about the iso you are using, if you are knowledgeable enough to make an md5 sum, could I ask for you to send me the md5 sum of both your unmodified ISO, and unmodified data.cpk file, along with the print version (players choice or original run, or if you don't know). This IS for helping make an easier patch system as well as fixing the slowdown bugs. I know there are at least 2 official pressings of this game and need to know if there is a difference between the two. As to not fill the thread with this, please PM me the details if you can.

Thanks

Jun

PS note to the mods, as you may not know MD5 are not reversible so this is not me asking for the iso directly, just a mostly unique identifier for the file.

Edit for more details, I do have a fix in place I think but I have yet fully test it, so far the data.cpk file is 60-80 KiloBytes smaller, which makes sense if you compare the patch files to the unedited one. Unfortunately this requires a different step for the compressing the data.cpk file, fortunately this step uses the command line compressor which I have a batch file for, unfortunately this will make it more difficult to debug when people fail the process. I will post on my blog later today or tomorrow with a few more details that should allow the more technical users out there test out this process and see if the proper compression fixes the slowdown issues.

You have to create the translated .cpk yourself from the provided patch and an ISO file ripped from the official game.

Jun's tutorial page tells you how to make the .cpk, which you can then use in the new patching system.

Just some fyi, not sure if it's something wrong with my iso or the patch at a certain point. on the last chapter of gu, when playing with the patch, it would freeze as i clicked on atoli's name at the chaos gate(convo). i played it on my unmodified version and it goes through the convo just fine. again, just letting you guys know in case it's a patch error.

Yup. We've been investigating this for the past few months. The game has been freezing at random points throughout the game since we first patched it. We're not sure why, but hopefully we'll have a fix for it soon.

is there any reason cwcheats wouldn't work on the patched version? i'm kind of sick of grinding confidence for 100%

No idea. I don't believe any of us tried it. I'm not sure what sort of cheats you could use, nor what effect they'll have on the game's functioning.

Its the same file as before, the new patch system modifies the file you provided as opposed to making a new file.
