.hack Cosplay Music Video and Performance

Post by Langarang »

I'm new to the boards, but I thought I would share some of my group's .hack cosplay work! At Sakura-Con this past March my group and I debuted our .hack cosplays at the costume contest. We portrayed Haseo, Shino, Ovan (.hack//G.U.), Albireo, Aika, Tokio (.hack//Link), and myself as AIDA infected Atoli (.hack//Trilogy). We won "Best Group Award" there for our costumes and skit, and I wanted to share that with you all in the below videos!

With our costumes we not only wanted to have a sense of unity as a group, but also wanted to pay tribute to the game beyond the original designs. Each of our costumes are rigged with LEDs in various places (depending on the design) to give viewers that sense that we're from the online world!

As far as the skit we understand that it is not entirely canon to the story lines of .hack//G.U., Trilogy, and Link. We had a modge podge of characters, and thus had to accommodate, but we tried to stay true to the integrity of each character! The skit itself was designed around the princess (Aika) calling the heroes of The World to protect her from the forces of AIDA. When Atoli approaches--distraught and infected--the heroes attack to release her from infection (just like in the games). Aika's influence finally releases her.

Inspired by our undying love for the .hack saga we then made a music video based on our skit idea! "Welcome to the World" was shot by our video team, and edited by myself. With limited time, and limited equipment we did the best we could--here's the result!

We're a small group of kids from Boise, Idaho, and we're just trying the best we can to portray our favorite characters from our favorite series. I hope you all enjoy, and thank you for your support! If you would like to find more of our work you can find us at:

WOW
That's all i can say
WOOOW O3O
WHERE HAVE AWESOME .HACK COSPLAYERS LIKE YOU BEEN ALL THIS TIME!? DDD8

There's a FEW details to pick on about, such like how Ovan seems to be using his arm-thingy as a cannon, even though it's actually a shield-thing for the AIDA inside. But other than that, your cosplays are PERFECT, and so very well-done anyways!! I LOVE your work as AIDA Atoli, and though i might dislike Tokio as a character, his cosplay is VERY good. And yeah, i could go on and on about how impressed i am by seeing this XD

So, awesome work!! :D And your cosplay video has been featured in the dothackers FB page!! The .hack fandom all around the world will be able to see such awesomeness!! 8D

Wow, thank you for your beyond kind words! It is an awesome thing to hear it from those who are even unfamiliar, but it is another thing entirely to feel appreciated by members of the .hack community. We all worked so very hard for several months together to craft these, and rehearse...so thank you :D !

And yes, noted about Ovan's arm! We humbly understand it is a shield for the AIDA inside (SPOILER SPOILER? haha), but for the audience/judges sake who were not familiar with the .hack series we had to give Ovan an 'action' so that they wouldn't be confused with why he wouldn't be using his giant weapon-like arm when every one else was attacking Atoli. We did the same for the music video. As much as we want to stick to the canon that we love so near and dear we have to accommodate to little things like in cosplay performances unfortunately!

I just checked--I can't believe it got featured on the dot hackers Facebook! That is beyond exciting. I am so grateful. Thanks again for your support, dear!

A lot of our friends didn't know about .hack, but a few years ago some of us introduced it to them and they've been hooked ever since. Its like our job to spread the word of the .hack gospel haha XD! But thank you! .hack music is so powerful, and haunting and that's what we were going for when we designed the skit. Glad you liked it , dear :)
