To slay a Spirit... ((Starting now!))

((Note: This was a thread that I'd originally started on Mangafox. however, I thought it would be cool to bring it here, so here it is. The largest RP I've EVER created.))

To Slay a Spirit...

Setting;

The RP takes place in a place known as the 'Duo-Aria', a place in which the realms of Spirits and humans are positioned dangerously close to each other. So close, in fact, that they are almost touching. The only 'barrier' that keeps these two realms separate from each other, is a veil of blue sky referred to only as 'the bridge of dreams'. It is possible for humans to cross over this 'bridge of dreams' with little difficulty. The same goes for the spirits. However, I will go into detail on exactly how that is possible a little bit later on. For now, lets take a deeper look at the two realms within the 'Duo-Aria'. The realms of 'Terras' and 'Lunas'.

--Terras;

Terras is the realm inhabited by humans. In this realm, there are very little spiritual creatures, aside from those which are summoned by humans themselves. The realm of Terras is covered in vast plains, lush forests, high mountains that scrape the sky, and fathomless oceans that stretch to unknown depths. The humans who inhabit this land are all at one with nature, and live at peace with each other... however, something dark is happening in Terras, and many people assume it to be the work of those from Lunas. As such, the Humans on Terras are currently on the verge of warring with the Spirits of Lunas. The realm of Terras is governed by the high chancellor 'Ars-Lunis'

--Lunas;

Lunas is the realm of the beginning and the end, the home of the spirits. It is a land covered in eternal twilight, and glimmers white with the energy of it's inhabitants. The spirits who live in the realm of Lunas are docile beings, and will do anything to avoid conflict with other beings - spiritual or not - due to their serene compassion. However, there are those who seek only vengeance on humanity, and who play malicious tricks on those who sleep in an attempt to lure them into the realm of the spirits, forever trapping them within it's confines. These Spirits are known as 'Geists', and have recently gained control of the spiritual realm under the iron fist of their supreme chancellor, 'Ars Mel-n-cite'.

The Story;

You are one of the humans who has been hired by the high chancellor 'Ars-Lunis' for the purpose of entering the realm of the Spirits, and gathering information on their current leader 'Ars Mel-n-cite', so that something may be done before the current bad blood between Humanity and the spirit world dissolves into full-fledged conflict. If need be, you will also be asked to eliminate the leader of the spirits, by whatever means necessary. However, the most important task that you have been given, is to recover the broken core of the 'Hell's Gate', so that the Gate itself may be fixed, for without the Hell's Gate, Humanity would be unable to defend itself from an attack by the spirits....

Crossing over the 'Bridge of Dreams';

Within the realm of humans, there exists two gargantuan structures known as the gates of 'heaven and hell'.

--The Spirit Gates--
Image

--Heaven's Gate;

The gate of heaven is a giant, floating pillar, about the size of a mountain, which constantly flies around in the skies of Terras. This gate enables spirits and humans from the realm of Lunas to travel from their capital city, to anywhere within the realm of Terras, as long as the 'Heaven's gate' is floating above the area they wish to go to. The Gate's core resides in the Lunasian capital city.

--Hell's Gate;

This was a gate built by humans and spirits during the times of peace, enabling humans to enter the spirit realm whenever they felt like doing so. It is the same size as the heaven's gate, but it is fixed in a certain point. It allows spirits and humans to travel to anywhere within Lunas, from Terras, at any time they desire. However, when the spirits elected Ars Mel-n-cite as their chancellor, his first 'act' was to have the Hell's Gate's core destroyed. As such, the Gate crumbled into ruin, becoming useless due to the lack of a power source. The broken core resides in the ruins of Lun-Tirin, within the realm of Lunas.

--How Humans Cross over without the aid of the Gates;

In order for a human to cross over without using the Gates, they need to be 'invited' by a large group of spirits/ humans within the opposite realm, while you are asleep. This is the reason why the barrier separating the two realms of Terras and Lunas is referred to as 'the bridge of dreams'. Be aware that where you are 'warped' to after being invited into the opposite realm is decided at random. Hence, it is imperative that you always come prepared for the worst...

Spirit Abilities and Spirit Wielders;

The characters that you play as within the RP are referred to simply as 'Spirit Wielders'. They are humans who have received one of the twelve abilities of the High-Spirits* to wield in times of danger. The only way in which a human can receive this ability, however, is for them to be given a High-Spirit's soul at birth. Exactly how this happens is still unknown. Once a human reaches a certain age, they unlock the ability to fully control their powers, and become a true 'Spirit Wielder'. It should also be noted that only 12 Spirit Wielders can exist at any one time, and that when one dies, another will be born to take her/ his place.

Each character is allowed ONE spirit ability that they can use in combat. This ability is one that corresponds with the character's 'element'.

e.g. Earth based characters can use Earth based spirit abilities.

Here is a chart of all the available spirit abilities;

1)) Fire Abilities;
-Explode; The ability to make physical objects explode (Taken by Haseo{TOD})
-Fury; The ability to use your anger as a source of limitless power (not taken)
-Melt; The ability to Melt any object you face (not taken)

2)) Water Abilities;
-Morph; The ability to shift the form of any object you encounter (not taken)
-Drain; The ability to sap the energy from any being you encounter (not taken)
-Freeze; The ability to Freeze any liquid you come across into any shape you desire (not taken)

3)) Wind Abilities;
-Levitate; The ability to fly over obstacles, and increase your speed to dramatic extremes. (not taken)
-Barrier; The ability to use the wind around you as a method of blocking attacks (Taken by HelbaWorshipper)
-Slash; The ability to attack anything around you using the air around you (not taken)

4)) Earth Abilities;
-Reconstruct; The ability to repair any ruined structure that you come across(not taken)
-Shell; The ability to create immobile shields around yourself using the earth around you (not taken)
-Gear; The ability to make inanimate objects move of their own free will. (Taken by Nobodyknows)

((*High-Spirit; The highest rank of Spirit. They are what are revered in Spirit Society as 'Divine Beings'. High-Spirits often act as commanders in the many Spirit armies. For every High-Spirit, there is ONE Spirit Wielder. Ergo, there are 12 High-Spirits in total.))

Rules;

1. No Godmodding - of any sort!
2. No Cybering! Romance is fine, but keep it PG-13. This goes for swearing as well.
3. Be active! Post whenever you know you can!
4. Be respectful to other members of the RP!
5. NO ONE-LINERS! Try to write a decent paragraph every time you post.
6. Get permission before you decide to slaughter someone else's character!
7. Don't Spam! It ruins the fun for everyone else.
8. Try not to double post. If you think something went wrong, wait a day and see what happens, then try and edit your post e.t.c.
9. ENJOY THE RP! If you don't enjoy it, then why are you even here?

*More rules can be added at my discretion, if need be.
*Breaking the rules ONCE will get you a warning. Breaking them TWICE will result in getting kicked from the RP.

And of course, here's my profile. If you're unsure of what to write in one of the character profile's sections, use this as a guideline.

Name: Jun Rayard
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Weapon: Gear V.20 - A Gun capable of immobilizing opponents by removing the 'Gears' within their body. It has the power to destroy most Golems in a single blast.
Element: Earth
Spirit Ability: Gear; The ability to make inanimate objects move of their own free will.
Personality: Jun is a mysterious character, who often acts incredibly goofy, and prefers to lie in bed all day than do much in terms of work. However, if forced into doing work, he will do it with such dedication and speed that many people consider him to be a genius. The fact of the matter is, unless he's doing physical work - as opposed to mental work - He's a genius. When doing mental work, he's on a much more average level. His usually lazy mode of lifestyle also serves another purpose, the purpose of distracting people from his 'true' nature. If one were to look into his eyes, one would see, not the glazed expression of a lazy good-for-nothing, but the eyes of a keen hunter. Exactly why Jun hides this is unknown, but it is believed to have something to do with his Deceased Father...
Biography: Jun Rayard is the son of a now dead blacksmith who worked in the Terrasian city of 'U-To-Herne'. the blacksmith in question was famous throughout the land as being one who could construct anything that he wished from even the smallest amount of materials. Jun has yet to live up to this aspect of his father, though. However, Jun is one - though lazy - who excels in the forging of weaponry. In particular, Guns. A prime example of his skill would be the 'Gear' series, designed specifically to work with his 'Spirit Ability', 'Gear'. He has managed as such - over the course of twenty trial versions - to create a weapon which not only is capable of doing the opposite of his Spirit Ability - removing 'Spirit Gears' as opposed to creating them - but also to create a weapon which is, at the same time, able to destroy a Golem in as little as a single shot. The gun can also be 'charged' in order to do even more damage. however, Jun has not been able to make it work against Pure spirits as such, and is busy searching for a way to enable it to damage them. He thinks that it has something to do with the ammunition he's using, but he also admits it might be necessary to simply enter the realm of Lunas to get the Gun to be able to damage spirits.
This leads on to why he decided to answer the call of the high chancellor Ars-Lunis. Not only would he be able to go on an adventure to a realm he had never visited before, but he would also be able to test out his two theories on how he could enable his weapon to damage pure spirits.
Because of his skill in the forgery of guns, he has also developed a combat style of his own, in which he can use the guns in close combat - similar to the way in which a sword would be used - as well as using them as ranged weapons. This all stems from the fact that he sticks to the proverb his father taught him; 'A Perfect weapon cannot be deemed 'Perfect', until it has been proven to BE 'Perfect' '. Jun took this to mean that he had to test every weapon he forged before saying that it was usable, and hence, gradually improved his skills in the usage of guns, while at the same time, developing his own combat style related to the usage of Guns.

Name: Meg Traydor

Age: 25

Gender: female

Weapon: Long Katana

Weapon's Appearance: Image

Element: wind

Spirit Ability: Barrier - Capable of making a wind barrier to protect from attacks.

Personality: Meg is typically the strong, silent type. Despite being raised to be a normal girl, she went against the mold and protected what she desired to keep. As a result, she is often silent, speaking only when necessary. Even though she uses a sword, she would much rather use a shield, but finds a sword more effective. The longer the sword, the better.

Biography: Meg was born into a normal family. Even though she would be expected to be normal, she somehow managed to be different. Instead of being interested in dresses she wanted to wear pants. She made a lot of female friends, but managed to get many of the men wanting to fight her. She eventually began to settle into the role when her fiance found her undesirable. She went out of his life, against her parents wishes. She began to train with weapons again, taking any jobs that combat would provide. She would find a suitable husband on her own. It was during this time she discovered her power and began to refine it to create shapes.

Weapon's Appearance: Image

Both of you have been accepted! I'll start the RP later on this evening. Also, note that anyone is free to join at any point, as long as they can think of a way of worming their way into the storyline without affecting the plot in a drastic manner. That being said, if you join after the RP starts, I'd like you to PM me before posting your profile in this thread, so that I can get an idea about how to help integrate your character into the storyline.

On a side note; It's good to be back guys :B

((OOC: This RP starts NOW baby >:D! Lets make this a good one!!))

A flash of steel shot across an open field to the south of U-To-Herne. A family of four children and their father was sitting inside a mechanical carriage passing through the field in question, when the flash of steel split their front wheel in half. The carriage toppled to the floor, causing the family to fall out of it. the Father of the family then stood up, rubbing his head as he looked at the ravaged wheel of his brand new carriage. He frowned at it discontentedly,"Cheap ass piece of junk. I knew this would happen all along. That salesman really was a dodgy fellow.." Something then caught his eye, and he looked at the carriage's wheel with more precision,"wait a minute... a pebble in the road caused the wheel to split clean in half? I'm not buying that for a minute. There's something off about this scenario..." He looked back at the other family members,"Everyone, get back inside the steam carriage and hide there. I think that this might be an ambu-..." The father's words were to be cut short, however, as a steel dart pierced the back of his neck. He then collapsed to the floor, fading out of conscience.

The children looked in horror at their father's incapacitation, then they heard noises, and clambered underneath the carriage. Shortly after this, a few outlaws emerged from the surrounding grass, looking at the carriage with evil intent. One of them spoke up above the rest,"Okay.. We've KOd the biggest threat, now let's us get to looting the corpse and the vehicle.." The outlaws then proceeded to search the vehicle,"and as for any other survivors? Do what you want with them. I couldn't care less after all." The first outlaw then began taking objects of value from within the dead man's pocket. The children then began to whimper softly, attracting the attention of one outlaw, who reached underneath the carriage, pulling one out by her feet. He then lifted her up by her neck, placing the sharp edge of a knife on her neck. The other three children responded by clambering out of the vehicle and trying to defend their sister. Unfortunately, they were all caught as well. The outlaw that had captured the first child then called out to his boss,"Oi, we found these rats under the carriage. What should we do with 'em?"

The boss made a signal of pointing his thumb at the ground, causing the first outlaw to grin maliciously. He pressed the knife edge against the girl's neck with slightly more force, then called out to the other children,"Hey kids, I'm gonna put on a show for you!" He readied the knife,"It's called, 'Watch your sister bleed to De-'..." He was cut off by some unknown force, then dropped the girl and collapsed to the floor. he was completely immobilised. The other outlaws looked at him in awe and fear, then began to scan the area. Their boss then stood up, evidently realising what had happened,"Shh... It looks like we have company. Everyone, spread out and find the attacker.."

No sooner had the first outlaw stepped into the grass, than an almighty blast occurred in front of him, blowing his arms, his head, and the entire front of his torso off of his body and into nothingness. His corpse fell to the floor, and another blast hit another outlaw, this time knocking his left arm and the left side of his head out of existence. A final blast then hit the final outlaw in the face, crushing it inwards until little remained but a bag of flesh. The children realised what was going on, and had taken refuge in the carriage, watching the unfolding of the battle through a small window.

The Boss of the group then stood up, pulling out a Steam powered rifle from his thigh mounted holster,"Alright, sneaky bastard, why don't ya just show yourself?" Ther was no response,"Or are you just too much of a p*ssy t-" the figure of a young man was visible behind the outlaw, and it wielded a gun of which was pressed hard against the outlaw's neck. The figure pulled the trigger, and the outlaw's torso was blown away, leaving behind only the legs. The figure then snapped his fingers, causing the outlaws to turn into earthen rubble, and mold into the ground below. the figure seemed unphased,"Low level Golems. I thought as much..." he then turned to the children inside the carriage, putting his gun away as he did so.

"Sorry to startle you like this, but it appears as though I was a little late." he held out his hand to the children. A few pieces of toffee were placed in his palm,"I wanted to help your father more than I did, honestly, but there wasn't much I actually could do, aside from getting rid of what attacked you." He then looked at the wheel of the carriage, cocked his head, bent down, and proceeded to fix it. Within a minute, he was down. The children seemed to be in awe. He turned to face them again,"I can't leave you on your own, but I have a journey that I need to undertake now, so I'm going to leave you in the care of a great friend of mine." He picked up the unconcious father's body,"She'll be able to nurse your father back to health in no time.."

The young man then hopped into the carriage's driver's seat, and proceeded to head into U-To-Herne,"If you don't understand what's going on, don't try to. I'm not expecting you guys to anyway..." The young girl then popped her head through the window in the passenger's section of the carriage, and spoke out to the youth,"Uh.. M-m-mister, what's your.. na.. me?" The youth looked at the girl,"It's Jun. Jun Rayard. A pleasure to meet you!"

It had been a typical day for Meg Traydor. Despite the mission, three men had asked her out simultaneously. Of course, that meant they were all dumped unceremoniously in the most foul place she could find. In this case it just happened to be a rather large pond full of mud and algae. Perhaps after they washed up they could get back to their senses. She entered the small restaurant that had been her current destination, sitting down at her usual table. "Good evening Miss Traydor." A woman spoke, holding up a small tray.

"Evening." Her eyes acknowleged the woman's presence. "Your mother?" There were few people she cared about enough to speak about it in a public place. The owner of the restaurant was an old friend.

"She's making a meal for you as we speak. Are you sure we didn't ask for too much?"

"Not at all." The girl smiled, holding the tray tighter.

"I'll get a glass of water then." Meg nodded, removing her purple coat from her body. She then removed the scarf, leaning back against the chair. She had a long journey ahead of her.

Jun made sure that the children and their father were safe inside his friend's house, then turned towards the town's northern gate, sighing unhappily as he did so,"Huu... the children are now safe from harm. I'm sure that they'll all be able to go where they were originally heading by daybreak tomorrow.." he then frowned,"as for myself... I still have no means of reaching the capital aside from travelling on foot." He looked at the mountains encompassing the city,"Strategic placement my a*s. the only reason this city is in the mountains is for political reasons..." He looked off into the distance, seeing a large, floating pillar hovering on the horizon,"It's moved since yesterday... just what the hell is going on in this world?" He shook his head, then slapped it twice,"No. I can't start moping about that yet. I still need to find transport into the capital..." He looked around the visible streets of U-To-Herne. While it was a modern city considering it's location, there were no trains or transport routes out of the city.. unless you were to go and buy a car, or something of that ilk. He pondered to himself for a few minutes, then came up with an idea.

"Wait... wasn't Vyrion working on a flying vehicle? I'm sure he should be done with it by now... he's probably even done testing it!" He smiled to himself,"Yeah, that's it, I'll go and see him about it! Hopefully he'll be able to lend it to me!" He smiled, kept in high spirits by the thought of darting through the clouds in a flying machine,"I heard it was powered by some kind of fiery mechanism... I wonder how safe it'll be?" He shook it off,"No time for that now. I have to just get to Vyrion before the night rolls in." He then sped down the road towards a large pillar of smoke which was emanating from a large smoke funnel near the city's eastern quarter, the home of his father's closest friend, Vyrion, self-proclaimed blacksmith extraordinaire.

Dom was putting on some bandages in an alleyway. "What was that just now?" He looked at the body of his victim, his chest was torn raw by fire. "Please don't be dead..." Dom dropped money on his chest, and walked away staring at the sky, "Things have gotten weird lately...I feel like I shoud go somewhere..." He closed his eyes and opened them again, running into the middle of the street, "WATCH IT, GENIUS!" A steam car stopped infront of Dom, almost hitting him, "You watch it! Kids play here all the time!" Dom glared at the person and tapped their wheel with an open palm, "Explode!" The wheel was blown off and the car turned on it's side, collapsing and falling to pieces.

Dom settled down in the park on a bench, "Uggh, things have gotten peaceful since break... All the kids in school, and all the punks trying to make money..." he took a wallet out of his pocket, "Mister Leon Crystal... How much money is he worth?"

((time for brief interaction :3))

Jun had just rounded a bend, when suddenly a car flew at him from out of nowhere. One of it's wheels had come off, and the car was flaming in places. The driver was looking at Jun as if he had been hit with some kind of telekinetic hammer. Jun dived out of the way, barely avoiding being crushed by this out-of-nowhere suicide driver. He then noticed a man about his age, who seemed to have been where the car was originally positioned. A small spark of flame emanated from the man's hand. Jun seemed puzzled by this, watching as the boy walked away,"Sparks? But how is that..." He then jolted, realising the driver was still inside of the car. Turnng to face the driver, he was glad to see that he was safe, and was busy looking at his wheel, or where it should've been, and seemed to be scratching his head. Jun thought it would be best to leave this incident be for the moment though, then continued on down the road towards the blacksmith's house.

Upon reaching the house and workshop combination, an explosion sounded from inside the building, followed by a large cloud of ash which billowed out of the front door, settling on the pavement outside. Jun gulped, then walked inside, waving away the smoke with his hand. he called out to the blacksmith once the smoke had cleared,"Oi! Vyrion! It's Jun!" No reply answered his call. He walked through the workshop's front section, and out into the back. It was more like a garage out back, with a large field and a beautiful view of the terranian ranges stretching out beyond it. He looked down, noticing that Vyrion was busy welding something to a large-ish metallic structure. He called out to Vyrion again,"Oi! Master Vyrion! It's Jun Rayard! Your Current Junior in Smithery!" The self-patronizing tone of Jun's exclamation attracted Vyrion's attention. He lifted up his visor, turning to face Jun with a glad expression,"Yo! You showed up at exactly the right time Jun!" Jun seemed puzzled by this,"The Right time? You wanted me to test something out?" Vyrion laughed,"Not yet, I just needed you to use your 'gift' on this here machine! I wanted to start it up, but it's missing a gear, so I was hoping you could create one for me?" Jun sighed,"Ugh... fine. Where exactly do you want it?" Vyrion smiled,"Come down the ladder, and I'll show you!"

"Are you sure you won't stay a bit longer? Sleeping out in the wilderness is a bit dangerous." A woman with light brown hair spoke, sitting down next to the woman. "Besides, it'll be a long trip to the capital."

Meg smiled at the woman's concern. Had it been five years ago when she had been expectant of marriage? She had tried to learn to cook but was failing at putting a woman's touch to it. "Of course it will." She slowly stood up, covering the white dress shirt and long purple skirt beneath her coat. "I have learned to survive." She sat down again, removing the scarf from the chair. "Prepare a meal for me when I return."

The woman placed a hand on Meg's, squeezing it. "Alright. Good luck. You're close to the city, so look for some transportation."

Jun rapped his hand twice on a loose panel on the side of what appeared to be a large, metal chassis. For what vehicle however, he did not quite know. He stretched, then yawned loudly, turning to Vyrion,"That took longer than I'd expected, Jun." Jun frowned,"It's not my fault your directions were poor.." Vyrion looked glumly at the floor,"Id prefer it if you wouldn't cut so deep all the time.." Jun scratched his head in response,"So, Vyrion... what exactly is this chassis for? It looks too streamlined to be a cars.. and there aren't any wheel slots.. plus, there are some weird looking appendages on it's bac-.." Vyrion looked up,"Oh? I didn't tell you? Sorry" Jun looked puzzled. Vyrion continued on,"This is the flying machine I was talking about! A steam-powered... Jet fighter! Yeah. That's what I'll call it.." Jun jumped backwards upon hearing this, then looked at the machine,"Y-y-y-you mean this is-" Jun was dumbfounded,"Ayup! Though I haven't attached the wings yet.. unfortunately it's missing something I can't quite get my head around.. maybe if I did this and that and-" Vyrion's words echoed on unheard as Jun gazed in awe at the chassis in front of him,"So this is it hunh..." He turned to Vyrion, who had just left his own little world,"Say, Vyrion, I was wondering if -once you're done with this machine's construction- I could use it to get to the capital city... I don't really have any other means of transportation, and it's urgent business.. so.." Vyrion simply smiled at Jun,"Well... about that..." Jun seemed slightly un-nerved. If Vyrion was un-certain about something, it usually meant there was some kind of catch that he'd have to take into account. he braced himself for the worst, hoping that it wouldn't be too problematic for him to deal with.

Dom fell asleep on the bench, and woke up late in the afternoon. "Nggh" He felt a tug on his leg. "Leave me alone stupid..." he swung his hands in front of him. "Can I lift the kid up?" "Well...I don't see a parent, and he's looks like he could be 18..." Dom's eyes opened wide and he looked at the people, "Shi-" "Kid's up..." "Why aren't you in school?" Dom got up and ran in the other direction, "I don't wanna go to school!" He ran as far as he could, and bumped into a tall, heavyset man. "Watch where you're going!" Dom replied bitterly, "No fatty! You watch where you plant your fat ass!" The man faced Dom and the people surrounding him started to surround Dom, "I think you owe me an apology..." Dom looked around and grinned, "Oh, I'm gonna have a blast kicking your fat ass!" Dom tightened his fist and released it quickly.

Dom's arms were immediately grabbed, and he looked to his left and right, trying to break free from his captors' grip. "S-Shiiii-" "I would very much appreciate that apology now..." Dom glared "Fight me one on one you cow!" Dom looked the man straight in the eye as he took a punch in the face, then another, "E-Explo-" The next fist shut him up good...
