I used Enju as a generic overtop of Haseo, and the animations for scythes worked fine.
I'm assuming any other character's model will likewise work as a generic reaper.
And since most of the generics' stuff from vol2 was carried to vol3... they should all work fine save for small beasts...
I suppose I can check the other pcc types though.

To top it off, Hetero himself is 2pcmi2, thus setting him as a generic, even though he is unique.
He should be using the same animations as any other generic male.

Yip, the "Rebirth"-style Flick Reaper with that weird lagging scythe slash that makes his initial regular attack faster than Haseo's. Small Beast Test Results!
I was using Barson's model for these tests.
They "work" on the same broken level as females. They do not grow when blocking but they do hover about 2 inches off the ground and their necks grow which looks kind of funky and exorcist-like. When attacking, the fan is clearly hovering a few inches away from their hands. I suppose only makes work, but they can be masked over with female models.
And no I haven't, Zed, though I WAS planning on it! I only have a phone camera but I can try it now and save you the time of trying it yourself?

Well, I now have almost everything I need to completely make my own custom team, from sprite changes to weapon changes to weapon customizing... You guys have been an amazing help and I really appreciate it. I do just have a few last quick questions.
1) I don't remember seeing, in any of the codes, where the bytes for a character's name are, but it's possible I was just tired and missed it. Same goes for the class name, too. I was just wondering if there was a list I'm missing somewhere since that would be awesome (For example, let's say I wanted to use a Generic Sakaki over Kuhn... the name still saying Kuhn would kinda bug me....)
2) Does the class HAVE to be adept rogue to choose a "form?" I ask since I'd like to keep my mages as, at the very least, mage/weapon rogues, but replacing their equipped weapon removes their spell set unless they're 3rd form, right? And by association, if I change weapon types on them without replacing their original class for a custom without level 3 arts), will they try to use Level 3 arts and freeze the game? (And might it be possible to hack Matsu to multirigger in Volume 2, out of curiosity? Or were his broadsword animations removed in all but Volume 1?)
3) Tied in to number 2, the skill addition codes. Do they work from the top or are they extras afterwards? Like, say Class A has 6 skills. If I start adding skills from slot 6 on, will that overwrite the level 3 art, or is this purely just additions?
4) I also just remembered that I was curious about making my own weapons. Are there codes in the equipment FAQ? I mean I know the offsets for the models, but are there codes to alter stats (To give that hybrid a little M atk at the cost of a little P atk, for example? Or change names?) I thought of this just now before hitting submit and....
And with these... I'm done. My old question about class changes is moot with the skill addition codes, technically, so yeah, this is it. I'm finally starting to feel like I can help others out in much the same way I've been helped by you guys, and I think step 1 will be writing a "for dummies" style guide for non-generics codes, the basics that people should start with and all that. Not everyone understand's Zed's "this makes more sense once you know it" style, after all. I'm still somewhat of a noob with ps2dis though so I don't expect to touch on Generics much outside my own experments in trying to make my codes match those from The Codebreaker's Assistant. Which I'll say again is better than sex (but if you tell my fiancee that I am a dead man

I kind of feel your pain, there. I may be engaged, but we never get to see each other because of the distance. Pretty soon it'll be a year since they tightened the border laws to make passports mandatory... and neither of us have passports, to give you an idea of how long it's been. Alright.... After I've learn How to change the character Models.. Now I need to :
A-> FIGURE OUT how skills are working for Examble: Judgment. Which it's Ovan's Sign is it ONLY for Ovan or what?. And Lapu Do. Because I need to create my own characters.
B-> To Figure out How to replace Haseo Model >< Because I've tried it It glitch at the loading.. Weird o_o.

B The game shouldn't glitch right at startup just by changing a model... check and make sure you typed the codes in correctly, if you did, try activating only that one code.
C Mask a character model over top of Haseo 3rd/Haseo Xth... you could also try this joker code...

This should constantly check if the character in slot one is the one specified by XXX, and if it ISN'T (IE if it has changed back to Haseo) it will be rewritten to be whichever character is at XXX... this is an experimental code, so I can't guarantee it will work. But it should work better than the ordinary character code.
D Skills... I really don't know much...
E Yes, if you want a custom model it will take a longer code, if you want the default code for the pcc you chose, it will only need a 2 line code. Both types are correct, it all depends on what you want to do.
F Try changing Haseo's form to 1 or 2...

"Forms" are in every SPC's stats, where their weapon levels and EXP are stored, so no. I'm not sure what would happen if you changed someone's weapon who only has one class and then gave them third form; I've never tried it. If a character's weapon level is high enough for a Lv.3 Art, yes, they will acquire and try to use it if you don't do something about it. The easiest thing to do, if you don't want to hack stats directly and you don't care about the Art anyway, would be to edit the Lv.3 out of the inherent Skills list for the entire class; GUModelFAQ.txt in my zip file on my site can help with this. Of course, my stats.txt has enough data to just edit the weapon levels instead, but what fun is that?

As for Matsu... disregarding his lack of Arts in Reminisce and Redemption due to a lack of update, the answer is still no. Only Haseo has spare weapon slots, so only he can use the Multi Trigger to change weapons because he's the only one who can equip more than one weapon at a time. Now if you were to ask if Matsu's model could do this if Haseo, posing as Matsu, were to flip from his broadsword to his bayonet... that I don't know.
The 64 extra Skill slots per SPC are just that; extras. The names you can do on your own, but yes, there is enough data in there to do custom weapon stats and model changes. Yeah, custom items, not joking. If you want an item for a Blade Brandier that casts Razor's Edge, for example, you can (try to) make it. On that note, GUEquip.txt says under Item type values that 01 means healing item, and 05 is Spell-teaching scroll. I haven't tried Arts on Items, but I do know 01's description is incorrect, and should read Skill-casting item, if not Spell-casting item.

If I don't help out with this for a while, its probably because I'm either working on those games or back to working on cracking the model format of the games for use in programs like Maya and 3DS Max...(Right now our group has capabilities to convert towns and static objects, as well as some weapons... no characters though.)
That said, I'll hang out for a while... but I think I've done my part in making the hacking business easier on the new folks with my days of offset documenting and finally programming it all into a nifty little tool...

Heh, that's all right, Satoh. You've already helped more than enough. Even if you hadn't earned a break, you should do what you want to do. Besides, I'd say your program and Zed's guides are as awesome a contribution as the two of you could make. But hey, keep in touch at least!
And on another note, I finally tried a generic reaper. 1st form Haseo, in fact. I see what is meant by "Rebirth" style now, given all the talk of "broken" rebirth skills. Some of the animations just make me go "what?" like the charge attack (Haseo swings the scythe to the left... while it hovers 6 inches above his hands) that and the first swing still confuses just as to wtf is going on. The skills themselves are perfect though. The one flaw? Is it just me or is Zelkova really slow?
EDIT: OOh, you added the offsets while I was typing, and I honestly never thought of a Staff Jasper, neat!

Well... Zelkova is a bit relaxed... maybe he literally is just slower than a normal flicker...
then again I may have misinterpreted the comment...
One of these days I will have a .hack themed mmo... or... mo anyway. I'll try to invite you all if I ever get it running...
But... I have a lot of stuff to reverse engineer first... like the field generation algorithm... It's absolutely essential.

You only need to hack the skill trigger if you're using a character that doesn't already have those skills, or if you add spells. You should be able to add those normally via the skill trigger menu. Quick question though: I had the same idea about lowering the character's level, and was wondering if you've tested to see how low it can go? I'd like to make a fully custom team and level them from 1 to 150, myself, but I'll just test that level code myself when I get there.

Well, in G.U., there is code for player 2 controls, and P2 at least works in Avatar battle. If you want a 2-player game that bad, you should try messing with these games and see what you can find.
