Less than a month and a half ago, my school had established an event. The event was a drawing contest. The objective was to draw any of your favorite characters from any fictional series. Plagerisim wasn't allowed. There would be two winning drawings after a vote by the deadline. The winner would receive a free $100 Walmart gift card. These were my entries:




Today, The two winners were called on the intercom. I GOT FIRST PLACE WITH THE KITE DRAWING!! AND TOKIO GOT 3RD!! After giving credit to CC2 for the orginial designs of course, I happily accepted my free $100 gift card, shown below:

A girl named Yuki Mokashi, the only asian in our school. She drew a freaking awesome picture of Dark Mousy from D.N Angel. Anime took the top three slots. lol

Not at all. Even though she came in 2nd place overall, she was still the second winner. Here was our conversation after she was announced the second winner. Turns out she's a fan of .hack too.

Yuki: "Congradulations Jeremiah."

Me: "Thank you Yuki."

Yuki: "Nice choice using .hack. You're Kite was amazing."

Me: "Thanks again."

Yuki: "But, who was the other character? I've never seen him in .hack"

Me: "Tokio Kuryuu. He's the main character for the new series, .hack//Link. He was in his Xth form."

Yuki: "Xth form? Wasn't that Haseo's final form in G.U.? Why does Tokio have one?"

Me: "I have no clue. He's not the only one that gets one though. Most of his party members will get one too, including Kite, in the PSP game."

Yuki: "That's pretty...Stupid. Is the game non-canon from G.U.?"

Me: "The manga is."

Yuki: "Oh. I see. It's just that Tokio seems like he's from something else. He looked familiar. Who was that kid again, with the orange lizard thing and blue clothes?"

Me: "Yes. He looks like Tai, from Digimon. You have no idea how many times I've heard that. >_>"

Yuki: "Oh. So, where can I find some more info on this new series? It seems a little interesting."

Me: "Check the offical .hack site, but I really recommend this site called dothackers.net. They're usually on the spot with new info. Plus, it's a good community of people there. You should make an account!"

Yuki: "Hmm. Okay then."

EDIT: ffft forgot to say; Congratulations!! Plus your drawings rock~ I noticed on your dA though that a lot of your drawings seem to be copied from official sources :'D (Not that you traced- heck, just eye-balling them is pretty dang impressive :3)

Well, that's because I rarely create anything on my own. I need visual aid sometimes. And tracing? Ha. Tracing's so Kindergarden. In order to achieve perfect lines and edges like the ones you see in the Kite drawing, it takes me weeks to get it right. I've made over 30-40 attempts on that one drawing alone, and in the end, these are the results.

Well, that's because I rarely create anything on my own. I need visual aid sometimes. And tracing? Ha. Tracing's so Kindergarden. Don't worry, I never said you were tracing XD Though once you become more comfortable with drawing, it's nice to break away from poses that people can easily google and such. I mean I can't memorize character outfits/looks all the time either, but y'know what I mean xD

There's really no rush though, especially if you haven't been drawing for that long xD N-Not that I'm trying to lecture you or anything D: Heck I think my own drawings are crap most of the time OTL (like my avi; it's crap Dx)

*spazzes* w-well, I tend to feel pretty humble about my work; especially 'cause I'm always comparing myself to other members, and even my own siblings. All I know for sure though is that I'm improving at my own pace, and I need to draw a little every single day

Still, I think it's awesome that 1st, 2nd and 3rd place drawings were all anime related~ <3
