I'm reading the character guide... I'm trying to figure out if I can turn Silabus into a twinblade with the same type of cheat as the Generic PC codes...

And if it's POSSIBLE to fix the Harvest Cleric half of Sophora with generics...

I'm a bit afraid that what I'm reading means Sophora only has space for one set of animations... But I think if I replace them with generics I'll be able to use staves... Generic should work for anything but DG right?

Ugh..well I'll just have to experiment...

And why not USE the Commentator?

Explain how you found that out o-o
Straight from the model FAQ WIP:

4. PC's

-----
Actor offsets
-----

Starting offset: 0099D340

For the offset of the character you'd like, multiply the given hexadecimal
number by 60h, or 96 decimal, and add to the starting offset.

0000: Barson
0001: Pale
0002: Nuada
0003: Ninjato
...
009B: Announcer
...
01C2: Kazubolo

:cracks open save dump:

99D340 + (60 * 9B) = 9A0D60

Image

99D340 + (60 * 1C2) = 9A7C00

I don't see why not.
Satoh wrote:And if it's POSSIBLE to fix the Harvest Cleric half of Sophora with generics...
If you mean make her use both her unique Twin Blade self and a generic PC form for staffs, no, because the game will crash if you use an SPC that has something in the PC model offset. Even if you wrote a custom assembly fix to make it ignore the PC model offset entirely in that event, the game doesn't like chimeras either. It has to be the same character for every class. If you try something like Haseo 3rd on Flick Reaper and Haseo Xth on Dual Guns for the same model, it'll crash.

Generics work for anything but dual guns as long as you stay away from the short beasties like the Medic Union. They can only use mage class weapons (I don't remember one that used fans, but the possibility exists all the same).

Does anybody know or know how to find the model offset for hetero? I've been usin hackstract and PS2DIS but i still not well educated enough to find the model offset for him. If someone can give me some pointers on how to figure this out it'd be much appreciated. If not thats cool too lol. Hopefully i'll figure it out sooner or later. Thanks in advance. :D

1. Search for pc/2pcmi2.
2. Search for the starting offset of that file path as a hex string (or just look below the path, it's right there).
3. Do the same for the starting offset of the trio of pointers. That will take you directly to the PC model offset, and you can figure it out from there.

If you can't figure out how to do the steps:

1.  0092EDA8
2.  Search for A8 ED 92 00
3.  Search for B8 ED 92 00; you'll arrive at 009AA764, and the start of the model is 009AA750.

Ok, Replacing Spiral Edge with DG-Z = Hell NO, you get ice cubes!

Natsume just won't look right without the green ones... tsk...

Replacing Fist Hisa with Spin Axe... works, looks like a Twinblade fighting with different attack animations... the blades are held exactly the same as a twinblade would hold them... Not at all what I expected, but col anyway.

Replacing Spin Nezumi with Blade Fern... looks AWESOME.

Replacing Blade Jijo with Shadowy Death, also awesome, animations fit quite nicely actually...

Now, how do I replace just the battle animations with generic files? (Or do I have to overwrite the normal animations like walking if I do that too?)

((Got Reminisce today too!))

New codes:

Code: Select all

40953CE0 00D80001 - Nullify Awakening model list
00000000 00000000

NOTE: Nullifying the entire list for Awakening character models allows anyone to use Beast and Demon Awakenings without fear of a freezeup by convincing the game not to try and load the small cutscene in-between the Awakening screen and the actual assault. I'm not surprised one bit TBH. Each weapon appears to have a designated place where they need to be held, so even when you turn them into a completely different type, it looks for all the world like it was meant to be that way.
Satoh wrote:Replacing Blade Jijo with Shadowy Death, also awesome, animations fit quite nicely actually...
I recommend Blade Thorns or any other normal blade weapon in place of a Lance. The aura produced when a Lord Partizan is about to use a charge attack looks awesome.
Satoh wrote:Now, how do I replace just the battle animations with generic files? (Or do I have to overwrite the normal animations like walking if I do that too?)
You mean like using, for example, 2pff20 in place of 2ntm20 (generic battle file instead of Natsume's)? I don't think you can; I've said before that the main and battle files need to match each other to work properly. Tinkering with it, the best I got otherwise was no animation at all, yet otherwise working (i.e. Gabi used Armor Break, but couldn't complete it because his limbs were paralyzed).

Now if were talking about what's labeled as unknown pointer in the guide between animations and collision detection... why not just try it out? I admit I haven't messed with it much at all, so maybe something can be done with it if you're willing to forgo Arts. In the meantime, since an Arena video I'm trying to make is frustrating me to no end, I think I might do the same.

Anyone know what page, or better yet the code itself, for infinite awakening for GU3 or GU2?

I know I saw it on skiller's site at some point, but searching all those pages could take days...
Guess I'll start looking anyway...

EDIT: Bah I think I was remembering the awakening LEVEL code... somehow I think Morale is still a mystery

Yep. What we have now in the 00B4**** and up range right now are things that are saved to the memory card. Morale isn't saved, even in dungeons, so it's still missing.

I'm using a flask of Master ZED's magic .pis and a program called PS2DIS, both provided by ZED.

Not the files themselves, but rather the information the game uses to look up the files... sort of a map.

With the model codes we're just telling the game to look in a different place to find something...

When the game is looking for Piros, we change the 'roads' to point toward Kao-chin instead. The game finds a suitable file, and doesn't really know whether it's right or wrong, so it uses it either way.

That's all we're doing here. (though it is a bit of a complicated process sometimes...)

To get the games files themselves... you can use ISO Buster to open Data.CVM from the DVD and dump all of the .CCS's. Those are the ACTUAL files... but reading the .CCS's is something currently only Hackstract can do... but we have some people, myself included, looking into model data too. Hopefully we'll be able to rip the models at some point... but not yet. Right now we're stuck with textures, and whatever we can change within the game.

As I learn more about these codes, I gain a bit of knowledge about the files themselves that may be useful later. (only maybe, no guarantees)

cool

where can I download ISO Buster

EDIT: I blackled it, but it just looks like a regular CD file data recovery, how will help with hacking into Redemption?

Also, I download what rapidshare called it GU3.pis

but how do I use it?

And when I do alter data, can I just play the game with the alter data normally or do I need CB?

Keyaki asking Sophora for hacking tips? I find that funny...

Ok, you also need the program PS2DIS, which shouldn't be hard to find... I think ZED posted a link but either way...

Open the .PIS in PS2DIS, then look up the values you want to change (ZED has a brief guide to this on the previous one or two pages)

Once you do that, you'll follow the steps(also described by ZED) to turn it into a CB code, then enter it into a CB and start up the game... (Best to backup a save file for GU if you plan on saving with codes on, sometimes they may cause errors and if you save the errors it will be bad... so if you have a backup, no harm done.)

You'll forgive me if I don't repost the entire explanation, it does get lengthy ^^;

Welllllll.... I don't KNOW it will work... but if you have a chipped PS2 that can play copied games, you MAY be able to change an ISO of the game and create a GU disc hack, which will allow you to change the information the game uses directly and it will be permanent...

however... I have only worked on one game in this manner, and that was for PSX, with a group of other people... much better at it than I...(Chrono Cross: The Darkness Beyond Time) I was a modeler... currently that project is FAR from completion and on hiatus

And I somehow get the feeling you don't have a modchip... just a hunch. I'm betting ZED does, since he can create game/elf dumps.

I wish. As for the ELF dump, I have a DVD drive, a USB drive, and Windows XP. That's all I use to get the ELF and save dumps. I have ISO Buster, but I don't even remember what I used it for.

Oh, now I remember! I was curious if I could play a backup copy of Redemption if I booted up the real thing first and swapped discs mid-game (even when it has to load something, usually the game will just wait until it can get to the disc. Try it in battle for some examples, like with Arts; I figure this could serve as a cheap way to stop Doppel in his tracks if you were really having problems beating him). It wouldn't read the disc, as I expected, but I had to see it for myself. :P

Try MAXConvert from The Codemasters Project site. I can't guarantee anything... but try it anyway.

So in that case I may be able to find character mod codes for IMOQ or at least get the ELF like we have for GU? I figured there was PS2 dumping involved...

Supposedly the file format is the same between the two, so maybe the ELF will be similar...

Only save dumping, nothing more. You can grab the ELF by throwing the disc in a DVD drive and yanking it out of Windows Explorer. I can understand using ISOBuster for grabbing the entire disc to put in a disc image file, but I've never had a problem just pulling individual files on my own.
Satoh wrote:Supposedly the file format is the same between the two, so maybe the ELF will be similar...
ELF's are executable files; all of them can be opened in PS2DIS.

And if you're going to hack IMOQ, you may want to start with Infection. Unlike the other six games, Infection still has its ELF labels intact, which could help out a bit.
