lol i think that nice lil' typo helps, jk

um otherwise the gameplay, and all the reasons all of the games get those pretty reviews. I mean there are people who worship **** like X-Play....who apparentll hate us .hack fans. IMO LOTT sucked as an anime v,^_^

SIGN didn't help all those who like **** like Naruto, cause of the lack of extremely cool fight scenes, and Roots was the same, as for Legend of the Twilight, the reason it got fans was fanservice not story, (chibis apparently helped.)

Haseo{Terror of Death}> Are you saying that Roots is supposed to be on the same level as SIGN? Because I really liked SIGN, yet... Roots was just boring as hell to watch for me. I dunno why. =__=

Personally, I enjoy Roots. It's clearly not the best anime, but I like it.

I think what Haseo{Terror of Death} is getting at is that people use similar reasons for disliking both SIGN and Roots. "It's all talk, no action! Boring as hell!"
But then, there are plenty of reasons why people don't like certain series. A lot of people are turned off by the multimedia thing. They already complain about having to pay for anime DVDs of "stand alone" series, so it's hard to expect them to follow and pay for a multimedia project in order to get the "full story".

Of course, it's my opinion that they don't have to watch the anime, read the manga, etc. The games have always been the core of the series. If people played just those, then they could get all the important information plus their "satisfying" ending.

Because it was a different story, but the way things progressed were pretty much the same. and as Anime Monkey said, I was referring to the talking over fighting.

Thanks for understanding!

Or worse, people will go from watching and hating SIGN to seeing and loving LotT anime.
I know a lot of people like that. And sadly, from what I can tell, they're the ones that love mainstream anime like Naruto, Bleach etc. ... and only mainstream with the occasional this and that.
Meh, I don't know about that. Most of the folks I know who loathe .hack//SIGN have a pretty broad knowledge of anime, both old and new. I can see why people hate it; the pacing is pretty poor. I hate pretty much all of Mashimo's anime, actually, besides //SIGN. Noir made me go on an anime hiatus. I probably wouldn't have enjoyed //SIGN so much if I hadn't already been really into the games and the lore of the storyline prior to watching //SIGN. I think //SIGN is a great supplement to the series, but I don't think it really holds up as a standalone title.

That being said, the //G.U. series moved around 100k units in America per title, which isn't bad for a niche JRPG franchise. Vol. 3 moved 170k in Japan alone--not too shabby for a piece of one big game.

because it has a crappy gameplay, terrible difficulty balance, really bad AI (the people that walk in the streets are a MEH), and a not well supported engine, which even if it has a good graphic, it shows less objects in the game than in an rpg for SNES

for the next game they should concentrate more on these things if the wanna have support from the reviewers.. these are the first thing they look for >_>

Here's the truth to the matter. the entirety of the .hack Project is a too much for most people to handle as far as having to read manga, watch anime, AND play video games in order to get the entirety of the plot, which is weird because most otaku read mang, watch anime, and...play video games so I don't see the problem... The other thing is the amount of ambigiuty the series has as far as mystery and plot which it is thick in, and people just don't have the attention spans for it.

I just like the action in the games. You'd be amazed by how many people in America bought G.U. just to look at the flashing lights and colors, and to hear "REN-GEKI!" echo in their house.

I personally liked the voice in Vol.3 when it echoed. Plus, the reason why they would even put something like a Ren-geki voice in the game is to just make you feel like your doing well in the game.

Good point, I personally preferred the Arena Counterattack Rengeki the most!

I honestly think that some people don't like the .hack games, in my experience at least, is that the first game of the series is an extremely slow start. I mean, you had to train ALOT in order to have a fighting chance against Skeith, and there was even more leveling for the Arena in GU. I say this because I've tried to get some of my friends into .hack by letting them borrow my cop of the first game, and they say it's too boring or slow.

That case would be in IMOQ, the G.U. series makes it ridiculously EASY to level, you can hit the level cap with a few hours of intense training.

In any case, if it's strategy and difficult thinking you want, IMOQ fills that gap, if it's just intense action and graphics, G.U. will be in your favor.
