it will most likly be on the psp or Ps2 maybe both and their is the Ps3 bu i doubt they will put it onthe ps3 due to the ps3's price but you never know

its obviously going to be onb ps3. why would they give up killer graphics capability for some crappy handheld version? if our handhelds started having hd graphics, now then thats another story.

i seriously doubt the next .hack series will be on the PSP, especially seeing CC2's new Naruto game, I don't want it on the PSP. If you haven't seen the trailer, it's amazing. The graphics engine they developed for the PS3 is just incredible. Plus making it for the PSP is a mistake from a business perspective, the PSP's install base is a fraction of the PS2's and if it hasn't yet, the PS3 is set to eclipse the PSP's user base rather soon at the rate they've been going.

And the reason you guys are using as justification for the PSP, that R:X is hand held, is a moot point. As previously mentioned, R:2 was a hand held game as well. It just doesn't matter what the in game platform is, especially since we dont have nearly the technology .hack does.

Here is the order of what i would like to see the next .hack games appear on
PS3 > PS2 > Wii > Xbox 360 > PSP > DS

.hack is meant to be on consoles, i think putting it on the PSP would be a step back from the PS2

I also agree with a previous poster that i hope Tokio is not the main character in the game, just after reading the first 2 chapters i don't care for his character too much, He reminds me of Tai from Digimon (i liked Tai though)

I would love to see them have 4 player parties or when you are not doing an important Zone/mission you could play as other characters aside from having the main character in your party

That's an interesting idea, I'd also like to play with other characters every once in a while.

The idea for the .hack games is that other players exist behind the screen, playing as other people weakens that concept. The systems for the game can vary from PSP to - PS3. However games are still coming out for the PS2 so its still an option.

Relax, if/when the games come out, it won't be for at least a year or so. so u got time to save up. i plan to have one by the end of the year, that or a good synthesizer to play with

I wouldn't even worry about buying a system until an announcement is actually made.
You'd have plenty of theoretical time between when the game is released in Japan and when it's localized here. That would possibly give you enough time to save up money for a PS3, if indeed the game ended up being on that system.

Trust me it is going to be on the ps2 cause you look at japan and junk maybe. Cause even now as we speak they are making more games over there for ps2 than ps3 heck half the games that are on the ps3 right now are almost all american or was made mainly in america sooo...i am going to stick my neck out and i know if they make another game it will be on ps2

I Think it's just a matter of time before they Make it, because of the way how [The World] seems to go in circles, they can make new games as long as there is inspiration for the next storyline, and they won't stop making them as long as [The World] isn't shut down for good in an Anime/Manga, as for the next game, i guess it could be //LINK, but it's possible that it'll happen right after the events in //LINK, like //G.U. and //Roots did sort of... anyway, I just hope they Continue making it for the Sony console, I'm not a big fan of Microsoft and Nintendo just doesn't seem like a console a game like .hack would get a lot of attention on, im mostly afraid it would be Released on a PSP because of the nature of the storyline, I never was one for Handhelds, in my opinion the game would be the coolest on PS3, not only Because of the nice face lift it would get, but also because of the monstrous amount of storage capacity that Blu-Ray Discs offer, if i remember Correctly it's like 50GB for a Dual-layer Blu-Ray, you can just imagine the amount of Side-quests and Extras (like emails and so forth) they can fit on there, and considering that almost all the dungeons in [The World] are randomly generated, that leaves a lot of free space for higher density models and higher quality/resolution textures the game could really look breathtaking, also things like Voice acting, that free space could also let them voice more dialog, and use higher clarity Audio, i think when considering a game that hasn't yet been announced or even hinted, you have to think as a developer, things like "What Engine, Format, and Console can i go with to make this game the best it could be?" rather than just "Well, they use handhelds so let's go with that"

As for the game itself, i hope they finally let us use our own backgrounds for the GUI this time around, which is possible if they put it on PS3 since you can easily transfer images to it from your PC, another thing, which i think could be done considering they use handhelds in //LINK (but i hope it doesn't happen because in my opinion it would ruin the feel of the game) is actually being able to log out and explore "The real world" but there are cool things that could be done too if they don't go overboard with the offline part, like Visiting the Hospital to see the Coma victims (lets face it, if there's gonna be a .hack game, there are gonna be coma victims) or going to an internet Cafe. or visiting the CC Corp office, things like that.

One thing is for sure, whatever the next game turns out to be, however it ends up, i sure am gonna miss being an Epitaph user and the cool battles in Avatar Space they bring T_T
