NPC's in roots really do have souls? -Spoilers

Jus finished watching the OVA and after hearing about "good" aida, I am left to ask, "Since that chim chim had a mind, does that mean that npc's like mellow grunty and others that Atoli was very sympathetic towards did aswell?

If you mean the AIDA you fight in game it was due to it's interest in Humans, therefore it took the shape of whatever organism or animal it found out.

In ROOTS, AIDA was still forming it's AI and it didn't do much except black dots that enveloped a small light or liquidy.

The only development in AIDA was when Kuhn and Pai went and ANNA took over one of the Beast Statues and made weapons come out and slash at things.

No Ovan was the first one infected, But to answer your topics question that really boils down to the real question...Just how do you define a "soul" personally I am aythisist, so I don't believe in an "after life" but I DO know that the soul has been scientifically proven as when a person dies they are a nickels weight less and thats supposable proof of it. But as for the online world I wouldn't quite understand how an NPC could have a soul ._. its a question of possibility I guess.

errr umm...AT....to the whole where do you get your info thing I was reffering to the part about the weight of the soul ._.;;; Because as of late the Drs haven't been able to determent what the extra weight you loose is. it surly isn't something like water vapors >_>;;; thats just...to easily to see they wouldn't over look that.

Keep in mind that defintion applies to the real world, where only humans are sentient. Are you saying a Vagrant AI, Elf, Alien, or whatever made-up race wouldn't have a soul?

I'm not saying it doesn't exist, but that it's not anything that can't be fixed through pure therapy. Believe me, I know, I was born with a lot worse than Dyslexia. (I was born almost braindead. If not for the therapy my mother gave me in my toddler years, I'd have grown up into a Short Bus Kid.)

NPC's do not possess intelligence, mind, emotions, etc. That's what AI's are for. an NPC is no more intelligent than, say, a photograph.
