Avatars going berserk wouldn't necessarily destroy the internet though. But it could cause people to become lost ones.

I think that it would've been a cool subplot to expand on the avatars going beserk, instead of them being infected wth AIDA. Then at the end of the game they could've tied it all together and give it just a sense of a "all or nothing" type of feel and have all 8 epitaphs summoned at once to defeat Cubia.

Agreed. My original theory was that the Epitaphs would have to duke it out Highlander style, where one of the Avatars would pwn it's siblings and absorb them (removing them entirely from the Epitaph Users) and rebirthing Morganna and such, allowing her to give birth to a new Ultimate AI.

Though I am still HIGHLY pleased with how GU turned out.

That wouldn't matter, the phases were destoryed in IMOQ and cameback for GU.

Well, it depends on what the characters do. I have no doubt that Haseo, Atoli, Kuhn, Sakubo, Endrance, and Ovan will continue to play. Pi may quit since she talked about quitting her job, but we don't know if she gained an interest playing for fun. Yata may still play to, but who really knows. Anyway, Haseo and Kuhn seem like the type to eventually quit, and as soon as Haseo is done Endrance probably is too. And with both of them gone Sakubo will either stop playing as well, or continue playing with Saku there as well. Ovan will be done as soon as Aina is healed probably.

Anyway, I say all that because I figure that if these players quit, their epitaphs will just go back into the system until they find someone else who is worthy. But that makes me wonder, if someone like Haseo were to leave the game, but didn't delete their character, would the epitaph stay connected?

And on that note, assuming that you told Saku to leave in Redemption, wouldn't that make Sakubo no longer worthy of holding Gorre?

as for Haseo, I dont think he will ever Quit the game, As Sora, he maxxed out his level and still continued to play, amusing himself with the key of the twilight and Tsukasa. His story isnt even over yet, Maybe once it is, the possibility may come up. Though even then i cant see any reason why he would, except school and such.

just because Pi is quitting her job at cc corp doesnt mean she'll quit the game, or that they wont let her keep her PC. Her PC is still technically Her property, since it was given to her by Jun, right?

Haseo: Will hang out for a while in a Kite/Shugo style, AKA as long as allowed.
Atoli: Will stay as long as Haseo does.
Kuhn: See Haseo.
Yata: F*ckin' Wiseman.
Sakubo: Due to Saku basically living in Za Warudo, she'd probably stay indefinately. Will stay as long as Haseo and endrance are there. Furthermore, Saku canonically stays as revealed in Returner, but if she did leave, Gorre would stay as long as the Sakubo PC was intact, but afterwards Bo would no longer be considered a Chosen One.
Endrance: See Atoli.
Pi: Will probably quit and become a normal player.
Ovan: Will probably become a sparser character, making visits but spending the majority of his time with Aina IRL.

As for where an Epitaph goes if an Epitaph User stops logging in, as long as the PC Data is intact, the Epitaph will remain. If the character is deleted, however, the Epitaph returns to the Sea of Data.

The phases don't have such complex emotions to be able to make friends.

Mia proves they do, and so does Skeith's almost leaving.
The avatars can feel lots of emotions. Skeith alone had every emotion, but didn't know how to use them, since G.U. began.
