After vol 3 what will the next dot hack be like ?

Can't see where the story can go can go after this series. Are they going to make a The World: R3 to keep it interesting?

The gameplay on the other hand has endless possibilities, they could improve and add a huge amount in the next series. So, with the story all but done when it comes to being interesting, the next step for .hack series would be to become a real MMORPG, one with some serious effort put in..unlike Fragment. Would it work? I don't think so, .hack doesn't have a big enough name for it to beat the likes of Warcraft in the MMO arena.

Well actually if a real "The World R:2" was made just like it is in the anime/game, it would so totally own WoW....

Anyway I think that they should just make a new .Hack season with new characters and such....

That was an allusion towards the Returner OVA. It doesn't have any relation to a new .hack Series.

They could still work a lot with the .hack concept.
It is true that both series had the "game that affects the real world and can let player comatose" concept but that´s just the particularity of "the world".
They could still work on "the black box" created by Herald and stuff like that... They could, as said above make the characters move betwen several on-line games, or even on-line functions making "the world" just a fragment of a bigger image. (i always thought they don´t give the net the relevance it should have).
I don´t know... they can work a lot on the net, hackers, and Herald thing with the background and the incidents that the story have... but hey, we don´t want to start writing cheap fanfics here right?
With enought imagination (and money) they could work it out... but... do we want a 12 game correlative series? there are limits to everything... but as long as i get a quality product i won´t complain... (i think... for now)

in my opinion, this is for "the world" mmo in the game, is that the three dogmas go at it. or they could just make it all about god's rebirth. As for the actual story, they still have the powerful concept of "a game affecting you in real life." also in terms of gameplay they can add an extra fragment-esque style online play

They could make a real "The World R:2" (After they make the first one (if they decide to start with a first one, then go into R:2) and then make a new season of .Hack and air it on whatever channel, that will give you hints as to where you can find certain things and stuff like that.... That'd be pretty cool, with the arena too! =D and you can fully costomize you're own character AND Steam Bike.... And if you want, you can even change the color's of your bike... Now that'd be cool....

And it comes in two disks that automatically link to each other if they're both int eh PC and PS2 (not PS3 because not many people have, or even WANT a PS3, so that'd equal some horrible sales.... or they can make it for PS2 and PS3....) Ok and then you make your character and costomize you steam bike too and then it'll automatically be on the game on the PS2, and the PC disk will be able to access things online and so you'll see other players from around the world on the PS2 and yata yata blah blah blah... AND BEST OF ALL!!!!! ..................................... NO MONTHLY FEEEEEEE'S!! >__>

If this all really happened, WoW and all those other MMOs, would be COMPLETELY deserted. lol

I'd just like to see someone finally take down CC Corp. All they've ever done is cause more problems. I also like to see the real world have more effect on how the story progresses. The real world's problems always seem to affect everyone except your characters. Maybe we could get to play as the players in the real world, not just as their game characters.

I highly doubt it. WoW is the most popular MMO ever created, and .hack has a pretty limited fanbase. It probably doesn't break a million people.

I agree, .hack was never horrible, they always found a way to make it better as it went. I'm really confident that they'll come up with a .hack that'll amaze us all. These games were all really well made. But, to my opinion, they shouldn't end G.U. right away. Even though the storyline is almost plot-hole free, they still have things to work with, like the dummy factor, and Saburou, she/he seemed to know a bit too much about Harald and Aura. They still haven't given Ovan his Lost weapon either. One way or another, I'm sure they'll come up with something we'll all enjoy. They haven't really let us down before have they?

Dude I think it'd be great also, but the creator already said that the chances of them making an oline .hack MMO is highly impossible.

It be kind of cool if they do another one they kind of focus on the outside world as well. Like I don't know the main character is in high school and has friends who play and stuff like that. Then have certain missions and events happen in the real world ya know?...just a thought I doubt that they will really do that.
