Morganna for .hack//SIGN has to be easily one of my favorites. It's odd, but I appreciate complicated villains far more than a stereotypical "good guy".

A self-aware AI that was created to protect and awaken her foil developing the awareness that it would lead to her own destruction...there's just something morbid about that which intrigues me.

Overall, I enjoy all the characters. For the roles which they were designed they were all very well thought out; even the ones that only serve as brief sidenotes along the journey. I believe that's what makes this franchise so popular; I've yet to see another game (there's plenty of series) that pays such attention to its characters and goes to the lengths of detail (emails, boards, news, etc.) as this one does.

While on that note, if anyone does know of another rpg that measures up the same, PM or email me (I don't wish to clog up the topic with something that doesn't belong here) with the name - I'm always looking for a good way to pass the summer.
