The World R:1 V.S. The World R:2

Post by Phoenix Hunter »

In this topic, we will talk about both of the game's good points and bad points, such as...

Character Customization-

The World R:1 - 6 classes. Woo.
The World R:2 - 11 classes, 4 races(Counting the 3 Beast tribes), 44 combinations. That sure beats 6.

Battle System-

The World R:1 - It's a bit simple, but easy to maneuver, and has a bigger feeling of being online than R:2.
The World R:2 - Quick, action packed, edgy, awesome. However, the isolated battles and EXP/GP gathering screens feel more like a traditional RPG than an MMO.

Skills-

The World R:1 - A huge supply of skills at any given time. Sure, it changes every time you change equipment, but at least you aren't stuck with "Gale Blade" for half the game.
The World R:2 - The awesomeness that is Skill Trigger and Rengeki doesn't make up for the fact that the only way to get a decent amount of skills is through massive amounts of skill levels and the occasional traded scroll.

If we're talking about the PS2 renditions of R1 and R2, then:

R1:No PK system
R2:PK system and arena battles open up a whole new gameplay quality to The World.

R1:Many types of dungeons and fields, but look only adaquite
R2:Fewer field and dungeon types, but better quality

R1:Puchigo(Grunty)
R2:Steam Bike; also Grunties return, but in different role.

R2 wins hands down.

R1 was awesome, but it got to a point that you'd rather shoot yourself than go through Yet. Another. Dungeon.

I like how they split up the area types into fields and dungeons, and gave the fields different mission types.it at least spiced things up a bit. Hopefully in the next game, we'll see some different area styles.

Also, R1 felt a lot more like a graphic roguelike in some ways rather than a "MMORPG" - R2 has a lot more elements that make it seem more realistically MMORPG-like, including a lot more of the little behavioral quirks that you see in online games...

Things I dislike about R2: non-stackable equipment <_< If it's the same thing, it would be nice if it would stack, like items.

And I want the bike in dungeons :'(

Kinda wish they carried over "The Arts of The Wave" Theory.

R:2 is extremely better and revamped than R:1, more choices of combos and weaponary... HOWEVER, the camera changes and current magic and skills does not compare to R:1's..

wew.. i really agree with battle system .
For MMORPG style i prefer the .hack R:1.
but for a more exciting games i prefer the R:2 . perhaps if the world R:2 really exist....it would be more exciting....but i hope the don't add the battle field system T_T

for graphic..R:2 of course #_# the map is bigger n more beautiful. not to mention more holy ground #_#

The amazing thing was the drama in the main cutscenes; that's where you can see perfect facial expressions.

swt..
are u joking ? did you even can tell the difference of the cutscene n not in the .hack//G.U
first of all, when the mouth isn't moving..is not a cutscene, its just an event, what should i say....
its just like when u try to talk n give a gift to the party member in the first games. which i suppose, no mouth moving right #_# and its not a cutscene.
while the cutscene shows their mouth moving all the time when they talk. with of course, cool effect..*looking at Endrance losing cutscene
that's where you can see perfect facial expressions.
pixel expression ? #_#
i prefer first game for this one...

G.U. cutscenes focus more on emotions than the last games.
