Canceling tactics and team skills.

Post by Akasu »

Could someone teach me how to use canceling tactics and team skills, as in have your party do the exact same skill at the exact same time? It would be really helpful. :)

I'm a little confused on what your asking however let me give it a shot. For the game if you want to focus on team work and attack timing then its important to predict when your party is going to attack. This goes for the arena and field battles. Use regular skills from the menu to move at the same speed as your party. Use rengeki to interrupt an opponents attack before they move. Its important to know whether you will want the time to switch weapons or not. If you switch weapons the opponent will still be moving towards a target and as a result you end up getting there a bit off point. Spell and Items are a great way to get rid of that timing and block a move from happening, but your distance is something to take note since the target has to travel to something before the action.

Something to know about rengeki is it slows your party's movements sometimes as you should think before using it. Its something more effective to use a regular skill than to speed at things. Basic moves like charging for an or preforming a combo can take the place of several actions. Another thing to note is if your party member knock the opponent into the air you can use this moment to launch an attack. Something to note is if you should let a party member finish a skill they are in the middle of. Also if stuck its important to know which party member to help first. Going for both is always recommended but its one of those things about being fast enough to stop something in the first place. Awakening are also good for canceling things out. Remember you can also assign a skill for your party to do.

Phew, that is about all I could think of. Maybe using opposite elements or effects would help too.

lol, That was sure a long explanation to describe an aspect from GU that can completely go unnoticeable for any average player and isn't needed to know at all, though i think all she asked for was about how to make your team members do a skill at the same time, something possible through a Cancelling trick XD

It's a trick involving the "Gather command" (L1), that automaticly stops the actions your team members are doing, if they can be stopped of course; it pretty much works in the same way as the Guard Cancelling trick with Haseo, except that instead of guarding, they just try and get close to Haseo until you stop holding L1, at which time they go back to their "fighting style" according to the Strategy; if they're in Tenacity, they'll go and use normal attacks, and if they're in Rage, they'll use a skill. So, at the mere tap of L1, you can tell your team members to "cancel" their normal attack and either start a new attack chain or use a skill, and at Rage they'll mostly do the latter, so, with a good timing, you can have your team members do a skill at the same time, and it could be the same skill if they're in the same class and have the same skill level, and you could also use a Skill with Haseo to hit the enemy with 3 skills at the same time, unless the attack is a Rengeki since that'll instantly stop any other attacks except for already-thrown spells.

However, the Gather command appears since Vol. 2, and since this is a Vol. 1 topic, it might be not helpful at all ':P All you can do to have your team use skills at the same time, apart from good uncontrolled timing, is by going to the menu while they aren't doing skills and have a full Skill bar, and select the Skill manually on each, a kinda-long process considering the speed of GU battles and all factors that can stop the attacks from being sucessful (such like PC's knockback), and you only have a character of each class (1 Blade Brandier, 1 Shadow Warlock, 1 Harvest Cleric, 1 Tribal Grappler, 1 Steam Gunner, 1 Lord Partizan), so it's technically impossible to do the "exact same skill" at once :P And the only Cancelling trick you can use is Guard Cancel, which is just hitting X for the attack, then immediatly hit O until Haseo is in guarding stance, then hit X again and repeat, and this works, most than anything, to allow Haseo to hit with the Broadsword at nearly the speed of a Dual Sword, with all of it's power and attached effects, only without the shockwave that would come from a full Hold+Release attack.
