Gosh. I don't really know. Depending on which series of games you may refer to it can be different. So I guess I'll just go with the original series. Skeith is one of the more badass Phases, Macha is one of the most memorable, and Corbenik is an awesome final boss. The rest can easily go unnoticed, but they do have their own unique attributes. Though I would narrow it down to Innis, Fidchell, and Tarvos because they were introduced in the middle of nowhere, and were usually crowded out by the Cubia fights that came before or after them. Gorre might have been included as well, but there isn't anything taking away from it's fight, just the luck of being the last boss of it's game I guess. In terms of symbolism, I'd put Tarvos and Fidchell above Innis, so I'd put Innis as my least favorite phase in the original series.

Sadivinedevil described my thoughts very well D:
For pretty much the same reasons, Innis is my least favorite phase in IMOQ. It just holds the least symbolism, and there's nothing worth saying about the battle or about the way Innis behaves; at least Fidchell says cool stuff and has great elemental attacks. A .Hack fan reading the IMOQ story could totally skip the Innis battle and they'd still be able to follow the story perfectly. So yeah, not enough reasons to develop a liking to Innis D:

And again, my choice would be different regarding the G.U. Phases. Among those i actually like Innis, and Macha becomes one of my least favorite. Along with Gorre. And probably Fidchell.

...And you know, i actually like the fact that Skeith DD'ed Orca. In fact that could be a reason to LOVE Skeith; he's the one who caused the most damage to the players XD Perhaps other phases caused a greater damage, like the whole corruption thing or Corbenik Drain Heart-ing everyone, but Skeith's damage was in the most direct and menancing way. lol

Yeah... I like Skeith for DD'ing Orca too... truly the phase with the most presence. Plus, that whole event was the catalyst to the entire IMOQ series...

I hated Corbenik but only because it instilled nightmares for about a week...This is embarrassing but... I cried when everyone got DD'ed at the end of Quarantine... I..I thought everyone had been killed off and poor Kite was all alone....dayum... and then they all returned and I felt so embarrassed for throwing my controller at the TV. Still...I kind of wish everyone had been thrown into a coma...and Kite...like...turned evil or something due to the trauma... I love me some drama and angst. (the first time I saw Azure Kite, I was BEGGING the universe that Original!Kite had gone psychotic.... oh well.)

Awww :3 And to be fair, Corbenik did seriously leave everyone into a coma, though it was just temporal, not much different than when you've been playing for 30+ hours and suddenly pass out. lol
And that sort of ending sounds...pretty dark, but i actually really like it. Like "You saved The World, but at what price? Was their sacrifice really worth it?". And when i first saw the trailers for G.U., i honestly expected a somber, post-apocalyptical The World SERIOUSLY full of PKs, no more good players around, a difficult and dangerous game of pure survival. And while i loved G.U., i was disappointed to know it was just a new The World with all the happiness and sillyness, that simply allows PKing but it's not nearly as bad as some real MMO's :c In fact you can NEVER get PKed in G.U. (like all stalked and ambushed), all the PK fights are obvious, expected and usually optional, and the closest thing to real PKing is the Moon Tree ambush and it's honestly pretty cool, but that's it really D:

Kite never DD'ed any innocent people...or any people altogether D:
If you mean the zombie-ish looking Kite, then that's Azure Kite, and if you haven't played G.U. then i won't spoil you certain details...but, he never tried to DD'ed someone who was innocent. All his targets were dangerous for a reason, mostly a certain key target that he had been chasing for a long time. And Azure Kite only DD'ed ONE innocent player, but only because his real target was behind that player, and Azure Kite isn't exactly smart when it comes to letting people know what he wants to do, and the player was even dumber (plus, it was all part of some complex plan).

Ive played G.U before i joined this site and im asking why everytie you saw kite the one with the stitches you call "zombie kite" was always data draining people. And Im wondering if they survived like haseo did or did they go into comas.

@SPC173: Well...Azure Kite, an AI who I like to think is on permanent janitorial duty (lol), who is the Kite (so many Kites!) with the stitches, was only targeting AIDA infected data- and only Shino fell into a coma at his hand (literally!). And yeah, she survives. Did you complete G.U. or is there another segment of the .hack universe you're referring too?

~*~

WARNING: I get off topic in this rant but just go with it *head flops onto table*:

@TheSorrow: That's what I was expecting too- G.U. looked so delightfully dark and possibly philosophical from the trailers. I'll be upfront: G.U. disappointed me in many ways (ESPECIALLY Redemption...god...). There was so much to work with and it could have been so much more memorable (and potentially scarring...heh.) but alas...

Fact: I wanted Haseo to just throw himself off the sanity cliff during his battle with Kuhn/Magus and actually put Kuhn out of commission just to see the drama that would unfold after said event (and Kuhn is my favorite character second only to Kite...SO THAT'S SAYING A LOT). The Terror of Death should be a tad more terrifying, me thinks. Then there's Sakaki, who could have been such an awesome villain; had he played more mind games, started off genuinely good-natured (which I don't believe he ever was), and NOT been only 10 years old (which trivializes everything he tried to achieve, IMHO), I truly feel he would have been received better by .hack fans. Instead, he pretty much became a joke. He should have been a Chess Master character type who rivaled Ovan in intelligence/cunning. Speaking of Ovan, it was incredibly hard to sympathize with him- something the game tries to force the player into doing, but I won't go into why I feel this way because it essentially bashes the entire back story of G.U. and would turn into an essay on what is morally justifiable to obtain one's goal and whatnot.

One more beef I have with G.U. revolves around the Phases as well as the seeming 'tossing aside' of the Azure Knights after they're revealed not to be antagonists (I'm biased though...I just love them to pieces and want them to have more screen time). In regards to the Phases, they seemingly have some intelligence, based on Skeith's interaction with Haseo- though one could speculate that it was just Haseo talking to himself in a sort of 'Me, Myself, and I' metaphysical sense and not to the actual AI of Skeith. Gorre from IMOQ seemed capable of emotionally analyzing and then Macha is another beast all together on the subject. Anyway, assuming they do have some degree of consciousness, it would have been neat to hear their take on everything that unfolded in the .hack timeline and whatnot. Do they feel pain? Do they care if they are but mere tools/pawns?

Innis.

Just a huge disappointment after Skeith. Skeith ate little Wavemasters for breakfast. Innis is just all, "LOL I'MMA GONNA RUN AWAY NOW."

I was expecting a challenge on par with the Skeith fight. Then again, after INFECTION, boss fights get a lot easier.
