^^' that sucks, my friend had been living in Japan awhile and either she knew or just ignored them since the shop was getting a sale lol
?_? how does that work, maybe they expect less mess/food to be ate (for breakfast) so it costs less? And an amazing price
Kuukai is correct; while I don't get benefits like a free breakfast or a pool or what have you (though there are more costlier AirBNBs that do have these) I can at least have a place to sleep that's in a good spot for,
much much cheaper. Where I'm staying is a 5 minute walk from Shinjuku station. To put into perspective: the hotel where my aunt is staying which is also more or less 5 minutes from Shinjuku Station, the Keio Plaza Hotel, costs nearly $200 a night. Not bad when compared to other places (especially considering it is a pretty high-end hotel), but to think while she pays over $1000 for 6 days here and I paid $800 (cleaning fees + service charge) for 12, it's an unbelievable deal.
Not to mention that staying in apartment feels a bit more authentic.
Also, my place is equipped with 80mbps wi-fi, an iron, a fridge, a sink, a microwave, and a full kitchen, so I have more utilities than a hotel would ever provide!
Anyway, today I made a second trip to Akiba and took those pictures I promised:
Sorry for not taking pictures of the PUCHI, but I checked and they only had 03 and onward. I might buy a couple of the Guilty Dragon visual works since they are only about 1500 yen. And it looks like I purchased the last copy of their Versus + Movie archive! They restocked on Link but not that one.
The only one I don't own is 01, which they did have there, but I might withhold on getting it... I only have so much space in my suitcase and I've already bought quite a few model kits that I know I'm going to struggle fitting. That, and I already own the G.U. one, and I wasn't really a fan of Trilogy anyway. While I do have a collector's itch, at the same time I would like to spend my money on things I am more desperate to own... like all these overpriced miniature ships from Legend of the Galactic Heroes I found in someone's rental case in the basement of Volks:
I own the Brunhild displayed there, which my girlfriend bought for me as a small gift last year for only $10, and I've seen the whole set online for about 7000 yen, so I know for certain they're not worth that much. Still, knowing that I could buy them then and there and instantly have them in my hands is so tempting, but still. I'm not prepared to spend $40 on a ship that's barely as long as my index finger.
If you're interested, I've been posting day-to-day updates about my trip on my Tumblr, which can be found in my signature.
