New .hack series + R:1 .hack movie?

The .hack//G.U. Trilogy NewWorldGuide, which was released alongside Trilogy this week, revealed artwork for a new series, possibly new games, connected to the new .hack//LINK era. This new series may even answer the questions raised by a certain "twist" in Trilogy. In addition, Bandai Namco Vice President Shin Unozawa stated in an interview in the magazine that in the wake of the success of Trilogy he is considering making a movie based on the first 4 .hack games.

What do you guys think? I'd love to see the first .hack saga condensed into a movie without all the unnecessary filler, and of course, another round of .hack media is always a good thing!

But for the //IMOQ movie, would they actually add anything or remove certain characters (well, probably the optional party)?

I think it would probably try to tell the basic story on a deeper and more detailed level than the games did, though there might be surprises. I'd hope they'd be different from the surprises in XXXX, though.

well, If I want to consider myself a hack fan, I can just say that they are the best news of the month. Also, all these news and a movie that has just been released on blu-ray format is proving that .Hack series are not dead yet and there are still a lot of things to be proved by us related to .Hack.

It may just be me being paranoid but I believe this is an early April Fool's Joke, although planned almost flawlessly. There's a lot of things that indicate this like:

- .hack//Trilogy came out with the .hack//G.U. Trilogy NewWorldGuide (notice how the wording seems to be sloppily put together) March 26 but yet we're just finding out about this March 29? The dothackers staff is much quicker than this in obtaining information.

- Staff here hasn't been known to actually post topics about breaking news themselves, usually relying on the members to do it. Why start now not two days from April Fools?

How would a magazine that came out the same day as Trilogy already know about the success of Trilogy ? It also looks very made up as plans for another CG adaption would not be made so soon and especially not announced in a magazine extra.

- Where is the actual visual proof of this besides credibility and a small picture of the magazine cover? I see no scans showing these "new .hack series" or "new R:1 .hack movie."

But nice one though guys if this was a planned April Fools Joke, could have fooled any old joe .

Trilogy was released in some theathers, for showings. That'd been going on since around January.

I just think this would be a lame april fools joke. I mean "hmm guys somebody might have said something about thinking about possibly doing something- nothing has started and nothing is official...not!"

Anyway, it's still just "they're thinking about it", but I hope it happens. God I miss the R1 days. I just hope that if they do, it doesn't get screwed up >_<.

"Sloppy"? ;_; Admittedly I wrote this at like 1am in the morning, but I stand by the wording. The NewWorldGuide came out alongside Trilogy on the 25th.

We sorta glazed over it in the wake of Trilogy being out. I figured nothing would happen for a while, so I wasn't checking as frequently as I do when I know something is up. And usually something like this would be accompanied by a teaser page or something, or a least wouldn't be confirmed to be .hack (like the original G.U. article). Instead the only mention of it on their entire site is nestled within the cover itself and the description of the NewWorldGuide, which was easy to miss.

Haha, that may be true, it may be a suspicious format, but this one is true. Note that it isn't confirmation that they're actually doing it, just that the producer is considering it.

That's because I'm broke. Donations only go to webhosting, not any sort of "procurement" fund. The inflated cost of getting this magazine overseas is about $30, which to me isn't worth it for a few scans of backgrounds. Even if we did order it as soon as we found out about it, it would be here yet. Unless we had some sort of fund to preorder every .hack-related magazine and get it asap...

But I digress. Textual proof of the new series is found on the cover itself and the page linked above. It doesn't mention that specific line about a possible .hack movie from the interview, but it does mention that an interview with Shin takes place.

I find this reaction way funnier than anything we've ever gotten from a real joke.

This would be a brilliant April Fools day joke - but it isn't April 1st yet. None of the site's jokes have been pushed out days before April 1st; the earliest has been 11:30pm March 31st. It goes against unwritten April Fools day etiquette to push out a joke DAYS before.

More information will definitely be available soon - there is no site budget to buy 30 dollar magazines unfortunately - there was at one time though. FYI, no one has donated in at least 5 months, so spare a dime please?

PS: Someone mentioned we should start creating topics for each news post; so I though I'd start doing that from now on for the big pieces of information.

, Yeah, it is probably me being paranoid. When April Fool's is coming close I always tend to "over analyze" stuff just simply because I hate being fooled. The thing that made me suspicious is how it says:

More information will be posted as it becomes available,

Which made me suspect it was an ongoing April Fool's Joke that'd be revealed on April 1st. Once again, sorry if it wasn't though I'm still a little suspicious...

Well, we really are waiting for information. Hopefully someone will get the magazine. I might soon, I'm working with some friends to order a massive shipment of things from Amazon Japan and offset the ridiculous shipping cost.
