Was G.U. Returner Canon or no?

Can we base Returner as canon in the G.U. storyline?

Obviously Returner is going to allude to things that happened in G.U., but that doesn't mean it's canon. Unison made allusions to Aura giving Kite a new bracelet at the end of IMOQ, but that didn't make Unison anymore canon.

But because Aura giving Kite a new bracelet also happened in the Games, while in Returner the plot points they cover aren't answered by any other media. Both were for fun, but there's a difference between explaining AIDA's future after the games and simply having a party in Net Slum.

He went comatose right when SIGN ended, which is before the events of IMOQ, and Unison is set after those events...so yeah, not even alcohol will make something like that possible. Maybe Unison could've been possible if we simply excluded Sora and kept everything else, but it doesn't really make much sense either way.

One, Helba didn't make it, she found it.

Two, Sora and Subaru returned as their real selves, and I don't see why Sora would be the exception, especially given that he acts different from the AI.

Nothing has happened to make the events of Returner impossible and the .hack peoples havn't said it isn't so, therefore it's canon for all intents and purposes.
