Blood+

Post by Red Frost »

I searched and didn't find any topics on this anime, so I decided to make one:

Has anyone been watching "Blood+"? They just started giving it on Adult Swim last Saturday. I think the show is about vampire type monsters that were created by some government or military group. And the show focuses on a girl named Saya, who has the ability to kill these monsters. I think she was some type of experiment, too.

She has a special katana that has a groove in it. If she sheds her blood and lets it run down the groove, she can kill the monsters. She did so in the first episode, and seemed like a killing machine. But she's actually a cute, really quiet schoolgirl type. Her personality seems to change when she's fighting.

I kinda like the show, but I don't know anything besides the 2 episodes I've seen. I love the opening and closing themes. And there’s a guy who plays violin! Plus I think Saya’s just cute......^_^;;

Did this show used to be a manga and is the show relatively new?

I think there were predecessors to this show.
I've been watching it, and it's pretty good!
though the last one I watched ended really sadly.....

Saya

Saya, is the last remaining original, the 1 and only. She is the last of the Vampires. You need to watch the movie before you watch the series anyway. Here....this will help:

There you go...I hope that helps. You need to watch that before you watch Blood+.

This trailer is for Blood: The Last Vampire
Hope it helped.

Dude, this is the wierdest thing... My dad HAS the movie! He got it as a gift. I kept thinking that he had a movie called "Blood: the Last Vampire" I just looked and we have it. I'm gonna watch it later, though...

It's a really good movie.

It's a really good movie.

You are supposed to watch that before you watch blood+ and it will explain a lot of things. Since Blood + is a newer anime......and has some up to date technology going in to the making of Blood+ you will be surprised atr the difference.

But, in the meantime, you should enjoy watching the movie.

It's a decent anime but I don't think it holds up the B:tLV in the long run.

You finally get to see Saya's backstory as well as an entirely new plot. It has likeable characters and a top knotch VA panel. Anybody who likes vampire tales should probably check this out. This anime had me so sad by the end I actually cried. XD That's a spoiler, in a sense, as you should that  character death is abundent in this here anime.

And Haji isn't playing the violen, it's a cello.

I dont really watch it tho (its on my TV but I'm usually watching anime on the net while my TVs on Blood+, lol) The first episode looked pretty good. Didnt really get into the second one though. I may give it another go next weekend, if I remember to look up from my laptop.

I wouldn't lie. The cello has a lower tone than a violen, I believe.

Oh... my mistake. Well, it's violin-ish, so it's automatically awesome.

Okie-Dokie, I just saw "Blood: The Last Vampire". That was a pretty good movie. A lil short, though... But, it didn't explain very much.

Does "Blood+" explain things more?  I still don't know how Saya came to be, or how she ended up working for the government. And why she's the "Last Vampire", yet there's those monsters running around.

Like I said, don't give me any spoilers. But Blood+ will explain things better, right?

Edit: And is there a manga?

Yes, Blood+ does explain damn near everything about Saya. It's rather long, too, for the genre.

There is a manga entitled Blood: The Last Vampire(as is the movie). It was written and drawn by hentai artist Benkyo Tamaoki.

There's also a trilogy of novels written by Mamoru Oshii(also the producer of the movie). The first two are Night of the Beasts and Seduction of Blood, but only Night of the Beasts is available in English.

There is also a PS2 game, which was rereleased on the PSP. ^_^;

And, get this, there's a live action movie directed by Ronny Yu! It started filming this month, so we could expect it sometime in 08(the rumor is Spring).

._. Apparently, Blood is more popular than I originaly thought.

Well that's good. I just realized recently I missed the very first episode. I thought #2 was the first... But, I saw it and now I'm good... (lil less confused)

Also, I searched a lil, and there's other mangas. "Blood+" (manga) is the official adaptation of the TV series, "Blood+: Adagio" is about Saya and Hagi's past, and "Blood+: Yakou Joushi" is about Hagi.

A movie, hunh? My uncle would probably take me, I hope it's good. And a game, maybe I should check that out (I need more excuses to get a PSP)...

I don't know why, but as soon as I saw an episode I just liked it. The opening and closing themes helped a lot, too. And Saya did kick some ass, so woo!

Well, in the movie Saya said to kill them, the monsters had to lose a large amount of blood in a single blow. Swords are just easier to handle and conceal. And she's probably very well trained with swords. She did resort to a shovel for a while, but it was too blunt and cumbersome to use effectively.

And I don't know about the series. Apparently, Saya's blood has a deadly effect on the monsters, and her Katana has a groove on it that lets her blood run down the blade and into the monster. Think of it like a poisoned tipped weapon.

*Laughs* Well still I would rather see her use a gun every now and then what ever hapened to the traditional ways of killing vamps? A stake, Silver (preferably silver bullets), and does sun light even work on them in that anime?

Well, she's not realling killing vampires. It's stated many times that Saya is the last vampire(or something to that effect). What Saya's killing aren't vampires, but experiments or something.

You talking about "Castlevania"? I love that game, but to be fair the Belmonts use a whip to kill vampires. That's gotta be the most cumbersome weapon to use, especially on a vampire I'd imagine. Still pretty cool, though.

And it's nice to stray away from stereotypes. Why shouldn't a vampire be able to experience the beauty of a sunset, Angel sure did (well, once)...

Yeah, they aren't Vamps. They're called, uhh... "Corroptorans" or something close to that. The name might actually start with a "T". I'm kinda winging it on the spelling, too... Saya's blood has a lethal effect on them, so I guessed they were experiments (maybe clones?). Well, Saturday's almost here, so hooray!
