Post by Azalan »

Rules:

One line posts excepted. But where appropriate.
Do not insult or put down any of the players. If there are any problems between players please settle it in pm to each Rules:
other.
If any questions about characters pm me. If something is not too overpowered, or obscure in your character sheet, just leave it and we will deal with it as we go along.

Once we get 3-4 people, we will start! But please all who want to join come on down! The more the merrier after all!

Jasper Fielding has gone missing as of five months ago. The year is 2014. The only traces of him that were found were his infamous gas mask, and a piece of paper which read "To go forward we must go back." These two items were found on the rooftop of a building near times square new york. The night of new years 2014. On the rooftop there was a fully drawn Jupiter Arcanum array. All video cameras which were focused on the rooftop go dark right as the ball drops that night. After the cameras resumed activity, Doctor Fielding was gone only a series of flashing purple lights were seen for the rest of the night, along with the sound of singing in Latin. Many people noticed these things thinking them to be part of the show. Agents from Division Infinity were dispatched to investigate the rooftop the next day. Though they scoured the rooftop for hours they could not figure out where the doctor had traveled too. Besides the two items found, nothing of any use could be discovered. With their findings, the agents return to Division Infinity and start the search for doctor fielding.

You have returned to Division Infinity after investigating the rooftop where doctor fielding disappeared. I, Shadow Zentas am giving you the go on this mission. As beginner level agents you are to go forth and find doctor Fielding. To our knowledge he has the Jupiter weapon. With this in mind please remember he is very dangerous. Tell me, as you are new agents who and what are you?

Race List: These are the races available for characters. One race per character.

Human: this race gets two weapons of choice to compensate for no special powers. They have average speed and above average jumping capabilities. Also efficient in use of guns, and explosives. To offset their lack of powers; humans are very capable at lots of jobs within the division. Humans are very smart and have a significantly increased memory gaining rate. This is due to their ability to be great at studying new concepts. They pick up new things with ease and have the potential to be very balanced. They also excel in combat.

Due to the paranormal origins of Division Infinity; it’s human members are given vaccines to protect them against some of the diseases the different races inside the organization contract. Humans are also given extensive mental conditioning against psychic attack. Due to artifacts brought back from a mission by the elusive agent G, humans were given the knowledge of alchemy.

G brought back an artifact which contained a living piece of the grand equation. This equation piece was translated and revised into the lexicon of alchemy. However, what the grand equation exactly was has been made classified. Only few within the division have the knowledge of what this equation actually is, or where this power comes from. After coming back from the mission, G disappeared.

All human members were discovered to have deposits of matter inside of them. These deposits are special to humans and allow them to wield alchemy quite efficiently. Humans may use alchemy for offensive purpose to make weapons, and they may use it to invent things as well. To use it to invent things their job needs to be alchemic architect. For them to be an alchemy user of weapons their job needs to be alchemic manipulator.

Crystallux: A race native to mars. Crystallux have the properties of changing their bodies to suit the needs they have in many situations. They have the ability to do this twice a day. These strange creatures are similar to golems in the way they are sometimes quite heavy and when dormant resemble large cube shaped boulders. In the modern day they look like people. They are also able to manipulate their internal life force to become a weapon usable in the world around them. With greater control they can use this force to fight. But are able to use this for a variety of different things. this is different for each one of them. Each Crystallux is made of a different type of rock. Crystallux have rather long life spans. The oldest one has been known to be one thousand years old. Crystallux stop physically aging at thirty. As their regular form, a crystallux is quite intimidating. They have six arms. Three arms on each side of their body. They have long strong legs which are built quite well and look as if they can sustain large amounts of weight. On their back are two large holes. These holes allow the Crystallux to vent heat from it’s body for the purpose of generating heat. If they are able to generate enough heat, they can shoot fire from these holes as a weapon. If these holes are plugged up for extended periods of time the Crystallux will have problems sustaining its physical form. If the crystallux cannot get the oxygen for the vents it will be forced to go into a sleep. In this state of sleep they revert back to their large cube form. Where they will sleep for two weeks to regain strength.

Juvenile: This race was created by Jasper Fielding. The Juvenile are a race of humans who have been genetically enhanced by being injected with gate dragon DNA when they were small children. This DNA gives them the ability to take on the traits of other races by gathering DNA of another race in proximity. The juvenile does this by consuming the blood of the other race. This is done through biting, scratching, or getting some exchange of DNA from another person. The juvenile must be careful not to take on too many abilities at once, otherwise it will result in a breakdown of their own genetic formula for three days. During this time the juvenile is unable to use their own powers, or those acquired through other means. The initial powers of the juvenile are faster than average speed, limited distances of flight, a top speed of sixty miles per hour. A maximum strength of five hundred pounds, an altitude of a mile above ground, and a distance of ten miles a day. Juvenile have pale white skin, varying shades of green hair, and many different colors of eyes. Due to their lineage, they have a small star tattoo underneath their right eye. This tattoo could be any color. All Juvenile were created in a laboratory. As a result, they have no belly button. If a Juvinile isn't careful and tries to absorb more DNA than they can handle, they become violent and lose control of themselves, potentially hurting anyone unfortunate enough to cross them, and will only revert after having caused enough mayhem to pacify their Gate Dragon DNA.

Anti-Paroxians: These people are humans who have been injected with ancient dinosaur dna. They have the power to shape shift into smaller scale versions of different dinosaurs. This may be any dinosaur that existed. while in dinosaur form they have higher strength, and speed. Any wounds suffered in this form will still be in effect when they revert back to their more human form. This race has dinosaur eyes and they wear shades to hide this fact from others around them. their skin is also scaly and the color of the saurian they are able to transform into. This race is able to do this by modifying their DNA by remembering their life in ancient times. Doing this awakens the beast within and allows them to fight. This race stops physically aging at twenty. If in this form for more than a day they will have physical complications when they change back into their human form. This is made manifest in ways such as dislocated limbs, broken bones, or minor to severe blood clots, in rare cases hemorrhages. Their hair color is usually jet black, or sky blue. If not these two, then red with white streaks, or pure white.

Octumas: A race of people from the planet Neptune. This race is three fourths female and a forth male. As a result of this. There are more females then males. few hundred Octumas exist as a colony inside Division Infinity. Octumas look human but upon closer inspection this is revealed to not be true. They have either blond, orange, purple, pink, or silver hair.

An Octumas's skin is cold to the touch and on their feet they have four octopus suckers scattered around. In the small of their back there is a pocket which has anywhere from four to eight tentacles inside. from the outside it is not noticed and appears just as a slit on the small of the back. Octumas are able to use these tentacles in combat and also use them to swim with surprising speed.

An Octumas excels as a psychic, the use of pheremones to trick the target into seeing an illusion to mask the user's appearance and enable the octumas to control the target's body by bringing them under a trance, or they may specialize in making their tentacles do various things in combat such as sprouting spikes, getting stronger for choking, or secreting a toxin which stops movement.

( for tentacle combat those are three examples. I'm sure you guys will think of more tentacle abilities as we go on.) The elders of this race are the deep sea Krakens. These beings have magical abilities on par with cosmic lengths. As a result they do not leave their planet. Octumas have jet black eyes and have great night vision.

They can see extremely well in most darkness. Completely if underwater. While Octumas are quite impressive; each octumas has a food they can’t eat. If this food is eaten they will get a bit slower then normal and make decisions which are not exactly all that intelligent. If they have this substance it will get them drunk and make them a lot more susceptible to attack. Octumas have to be in water for a certain period of time otherwise they are prone to dehydration. When excessive dehydration occurs; the octumas has problems with focusing the mind for use of their psychic power. They also have greater difficulty in using their tentacles to fight. This is due to them not being as fluid and quick as they would be if water was not an unsatisfied need.

Name: Jessabell Connecticut Winters
Aliases: “Jess”(Formal nickname) , “Connie”(Informal Nickname), “Chaos Theory”/“CT”(Hacker handle)
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Race: Anti-Paroxian
Alignment: NE
Appearance: Image
Powers: Can take the form of a triceratops with a broken front horn.
Hacking: She’s a skilled hacker.
Tinkerer: Jessabell’s got a little MacGyver in her.
Notes: Jessabell had humble beginnings in a rundown neighborhood but discovered she had a knack for computers during her brief stint in the public school system. Her illicit digital activities soon drew the attention of some even less savory folks that ultimately used her as a guinea pig and turned her into an Anti-Paroxian. She worked for the group for a time, sometimes as a wrecking ball, often times as a hacker; eventually the group was broken up, in no small part thanks to Division Infinity. During the assault Jessabell tried to escape, but had a run in with Akima who slashed her across the face with her staff before Jessabell transformed and barreled outside. Akima however managed to chase her down and the race ultimately ended with Jessabell getting T-boned by a truck, with Akima behind the wheel. Jessabell is still uncertain how to feel about the assassin; on the one hand she helped free her from that hell, but on the other she did try to run her over with a truck. Jessabell is unaware that it is in large part thanks to a statement from Akima, stating something to the effect that she was not willingly working for the group, that Jessabell is gainfully employed by Division Infinity rather than locked up and rotting away in a cell.

Is acutely protective of her personal space where men are concerned, shying or backing away from them rather than lashing out.
Says everypony in lieu of everybody.

Scholar class explained:

Copied from notepad:
"Scholar: A bookworm by nature, the Scholar has skills which allow them to analyze their enemies. At first they're not powerful combatants, but their keen powers of observation allow them to learn special skills which can turn the tides of battle. Their weapon of choice is the Book of Knowledge, a hefty book containing many details about all manner of things. Intimidating at first to the budding scholar, an experienced scholar can find exactly what they need at a moment's notice. The scholar's skillset is limited to the book they have equipped, and equipping higher quality books allows the Scholar to expand their skills. Advanced Scholars can even make books tailor made to suit their needs!

Basic Skills:

Knowledge Skill - Research: The Scholar can look in their book to gain information on a wide variety of subjects. Better books have more knowledge. Research can take anywhere from 10 seconds to 30 minutes.
(S) Level 1: Allows the Scholar to use Research
- Level 2: 5% chance of instantly using Research.
- Level 3: 10% chance of instantly using Research.
- Level 4: 15% chance of instantly using Research.
- Level 5: 20% chance of instantly using Research.

Knowledge Skill - Analyze skill: One of the starting skills of the Scholar. By observing a move, a scholar can take a set amount of time to look up their skill in their book. If the skill is in their book, it becomes a researched ability. Not all skills can become researched abilities. (Skills include: Monster Magic, certain monster abilities, etc.[For instance, they could learn to breathe fire like a dragon or learn to petrify enemies like a Cockatrice]) Analyze Skill can take anywhere from 10 seconds to 30 minutes.
(C1) Level 1: Allows the Scholar to use Analyze Skill.
- Level 2: 5% chance of instantly using Analyze skill.
- Level 3: 10% chance of instantly using Analyze skill.
- Level 4: 15% chance of instantly using Analyze skill.
- Level 5: 20% chance of instantly using Analyze skill.

Knowledge Skill - Detect Weakness: One of the starting skills of the Scholar. The scholar peers into their book for a set amount of time and looks up the monster or enemy of their choice. If it is in their book, the enemy's weakness is revealed to all members of your party. Detect Weakness can take anywhere from 10 seconds to 30 minutes.
(C1) Level 1: Allows the Scholar to use Detect Weakness.
- Level 2: 5% chance of instantly using Detect Weakness.
- Level 3: 10% chance of instantly using Detect Weakness.
- Level 4: 15% chance of instantly using Detect Weakness.
- Level 5: 20% chance of instantly using Detect Weakness.

Researched Ability: Allows the Scholar to use any ability researched with Analyze Skill or Analyze Magic for a limited time.
(S) Level 1: Use any ability researched with Analyze Skill/Analyze Magic for 10 minutes.
- Level 2: Use any ability researched with Analyze Skill/Analyze Magic for 20 minutes.
- Level 3: Use any ability researched with Analyze Skill/Analyze Magic for 30 minutes.
- Level 4: Use any ability researched with Analyze Skill/Analyze Magic for 45 minutes.
- Level 5: Use any ability researched with Analyze Skill/Analyze Magic for 1 hour.

Learned Ability: Allows the Scholar to use any ability learned with Memorize without having to research it in the book.

Note: Even though the Scholar starts with this ability unlocked at level 1, it isn't usable until they learn Memorize Skill.

Recall: In battle, uses a random ability the scholar has looked up in their book and uses it.
? Level 1: Uses a random ability researched with a Knowledge Skill at 75% efficiency.

Research techniques: Reduces the amount of time spent using knowledge skills.
? Level 1: 10% chance of instantly using a Knowledge Skill.

- Level 3: 20% chance of instantly using a Knowledge Skill.
- Level 4: 25% chance of instantly using a Knowledge Skill.

Skill or Magic information gained this way can become Researched Skills or Learned Skills. Observations are a free action. If a Scholar makes more Observations than their ability allows, they forget an Observation at random.
? Level 1: Allows the Scholar to learn observe. Only 1 Observation can be made at a time.
- Level 2: 2 Observations can be made at a time.
- Level 3: 3 Observations can be made at a time.

- Level 2: Reduces time spent using Record Observations by 5%.
- Level 3: Reduces time spent using Record Observations by 10%.

Master Skill (All other skills of this class must be learned at maximum level before learning this skill):

Photographic Memory: Allows the Scholar to remember any skill they look up as a Learned Ability, drawing from their infinite knowledge of all battle techniques and magics available to the Scholar. In addition, it allows the Scholar to remember any weak point of any enemy it has ever researched, and the Scholar can make as many observations as they like. Skills Observed this way can become Learned Abilities.
? Level 1: Allows any researched skill or magic to become a Learned Ability. Detect Weakness is a free action if it was used at least once on an enemy. Observation limit is lifted.

Equipment:
Book of Knowledge: A book made by another Scholar. It includes information on many types of things. Some are mass-produced, while others are hand-written and custom-made for very specific situations.
(E.G. Division Infinity Standard Issue Encyclopedia: Mass-produced book of knowledge made for beginner Scholars. Written by a Scholar within the Division and copied with their permission.) When a Scholar makes a Book of Knowledge, they can give it a title all their own.
Ink: Comes in different sizes. Smaller bottles are more economical, while bigger bottles are more effecient and tend to last a longer time.
Fountain Pen: A tool for making books of knowledge. Not all books will have the knowledge you need to learn new skills, so advanced Scholars have to write down their observations for future refrence. With the Reference skill they can even combine and add onto pre-existing books.
Book Cover: A hard leather book cover. You need to bind the pages to this to create a book, so you can't make one without it!

Legend:
(Cx): Chosen Skill. The Scholar selects which of these skills they start off with. The skills that weren't learned are treated as a Basic Skills. The number after the C indicated how many of these skills can be learned. (E.G. C1 means "Choose one", C2 means "Choose 2", etc.)
(S): Starting Skill. This class gets this ability by default.
?: This is the first level of this Skill and costs 10 Skill Points to learn.
-: This is a later level of this Skill and costs 5 Skill Points to upgrade."

Quick summary: The Scholar class is basically a re-imagining of the Scholar class from FFIII. I retained their ability to "scan" enemies in the form of an ability that lets them research their enemy's weaknesses. In addition to that, the Scholar would have the ability to learn skills and magic from their enemies, similar to the Blue Mage. As a dual-class, their Scholar half can only do so much for the sake of balance, but as a pure Scholar they can also make books with information they've gained in the field of battle. Pure Scholar has the ability to analyze magic and learn it, to make up for their lack of real firepower in the late game. However, there are certain abilities that only magic users themselves have the power to master. Regardless, the Scholar's skill set can become impressive over time. They can also make their own books by observing their opponent's movements in battle since the scope of what they can learn is limited to the knowledge available to them in their tomes. Making books can allow the scholar to learn abilities that would normally be unavailable to them, since some knowledge would be specific to a campaign. Most books only cover well-known skills, powerful or not. Lastly, Scholars can use Recall ala Tellah from FFIV. Since Scholar abilities take a certain amount of time, Recall is a way to sacrifice a well-planned attack for an instant skill in a pinch. A master level Scholar, however, has a perfect memory, and can recall any ability they have learned in an instant, forgoing casting times altogether.

Azalan urged me to post this to give other players an example of what they can do with their classes. This probably won't be the FINAL version of the Scholar. I might post more of these, and it doesn't necessarily have to look EXACTLY like this template, this is just to give you guys an example of what kind of planning you can do for your character. Have fun creating your classes, everyone!

So, we starting soon? Or do we need to lay out actual skill trees first or something?

I don't think so, since that is only a class development and our characters are completely developed to adapt, getting us a skill tree would go against all our nature.
Although, the exception comes when the skill tree is made out of passives, skills such as "x stat increase" and/or "X (natural) skill" Evolve... Hmmm on second though, a skill tree is logical. But since Azalan hasn't come on and is probably busy, we haven't started because he hasn't got the time to log in and post...

Shadow smiled as he was reviewing the applications of the new members that were on his desk. "So these are the new agents i've heard so much about. They come from all walks of life...each of them has something to contribute. This will be...interesting." With a grin Shadow stamped each application. As the applications were stamped the ink from the stamp sunk into the applications. "See to it that these people be placed within the living quarters of this organization. Put them all in the same house. Give each of them their own room." Shadow said to his secretary. "Yes Director Zentas" the secretary said as she took the applications off the desk and left Shadow's office. The monitor on Shadow's desk turned on by itself and displayed a pair of old looking silver eyes. A crackly voice came out from the speakers of the computer. "Do you think their the ones to find Jasper? They are so young..and...inexperienced. How do you know we can trust them? Do we trust them with finding the good doctor?" A jagged toothy frown appeared under the eyes as shadow rolled his eyes. "They are special. These new agents have that spark. They all remind me of how G and his team were. Full of potential and well suited to make a proper team..if they so wish to be." Shadow smiled. "If anyone will find Jasper..it's them."

Within an hour of the director's secretary giving the applications to HR they had been approved. This turned some heads inside Division Infinity as there had not been many times in the organization's history where people got through so quickly. The agents already had lots of eyes on them. Shadow had bought the new group a rather sizable house within the Crystallux colony inside of Division Infinity. The house itself was quite high end. Each room had rather lively colors on their walls and had been customized to the people who would soon live there. Each room had a rather posh bed set, nice leather furniture, and in each room was a state of the art computer. This pc was up to date with the most recent security and gave the user access to Division Infinity's rather sizable library. On the desks in each room as a futuristic looking wrist watch.

The watch had a digital display and was awaiting the agent who would put it on. Beside the watch on each desk was a note saying to put the watch on as soon as it's inhabitant arrived in their respective room. In the living room there were six sofas put together to form a large circle around a a futuristic looking pedestal. the pedestal was made of numerous winding wires and claws it climbed up into the air and supported a medium sized platinum colored sphere which hovered above the pedestal somehow on it's own. As the living room was quite large, the kitchen was on the other side of the room. It was a full kitchen with a brand new stove, sink and fully stocked with pots, pans and whatever else would be needed to cook. In a drawer by itself were two full cutlery sets. These knives were for slicing and dicing. on the kitchen bar there was of brand new box of stainless steel silverware still unopened. On the wall of the living room there was a large flat screen tv. It looked quite expensive and as if it hadn't yet been used.

In the kitchen there was a woman at the stove who was busy making pancakes. She had long bright green hair which came half way down her back. her pale white skin gave her away immediately. The woman was an Octumas. She looked to be about 18. on the bar there were plates set for the new agents who would soon arrive. The woman was wearing a rather form fitting division uniform along with a white apron with little chibi strawberries on it. These strawberry designs were all over the apron. There had been a bar table installed in place of a kitchen table. it had numerous stools with soft cushions to sit on. While the pancakes were cooking The woman opened the lower oven and retrieved a pan of link sausage and bacon. The two breakfast meats were in the same pan and looked quite snug. With a swift motion it was placed on the bar as the woman giggled. Cooking was a favorite hobby of hers and it was her idea to cook brunch for her new house mates. She hoped they had come hungry!

(and without further ado! heres's my character. :) )

Name:(Lyreth Azluna
Age:(How old is your character?)18
Gender:Female
Race:Octumas
Alignment: Lawful Good
Appearance: Pale white skin and light purple eyes, long green hair which stops half way down her back.
Powers: pheramone manipulation: Creation of phereomones to sway the target to agree to an action. tentacle offense level 1: The Octumas is able to use it's tentacles to attack a person with quick grabs of the tentacles. with proper grip blood flow may be inhibited. Negotiator level 2.: Allows for tactful decisions when negotiating with offensive parties. A smooth talker. Is based upon reasoning.
Notes: (Anything you wish to tell us about your character before we begin? Keep in mind this will help everyone know a little on how to write with your character around.) This woman has a daughter Vener. She is also dating Director Zentas. Though she does not have to be an agent, Lyreth preferred it to the boring life of a stay at home girlfriend. Shadow spoils her much to her dismay.
Job: Tactical Negotiator
Equipment: A stainless steel katana. This weapon is worn in a sheath on her back. It blends in quite well with her uniform.

Jessabell was the first to arrive it seemed, wearing her outfit that was little more than an oversized shift and something akin to a cape. Scratch that second. She thought as she walked into the house and was struck by the smell and sound of breakfast meats and pancakes. "Bacon pancakes, making bacon pancakes." She sang as she tossed the little bag containing her meager possessions onto the floor next to the entertainment center. "Take some bacon and you put it in some pancakes." Jess continued humming as she slipped out of her sandals and walked into the kitchen. "Bacon pancakes that's what it's gonna make." She plucked a couple pieces of bacon out of the bowl, dipped them into the pancake mix, and stuffed them in her mouth. "Baggin pancakes." She finished the tune happily with her mouth half-full and hopped up onto the counter. "This is pretty good. I'd introduce myself..." Jess pushed the frames of her glasses up slightly and then her fingers danced across the keypad on her wrist. "mistress master chef, but I suspect I'll be doing that plenty once the others start showing up." Jess stuffed another bit of batter covered bacon in her mouth.

Cato woke up that morning, perplexed by his position in the team. Sure he was a skilled librarian but he wondered to himself why he was chosen to go on a mission to find Jaspers. For one thing the mission reeked of danger, something he was not accustomed to. For another thing his best quality was that he had impressive bookkeeping skills. Prior to being drafted for the mission he was but a humble librarian. His life was a very uneventful one. There was the occasional late fee which had to be enforced, and Division Infinity's agents were no different... Except that they were professionals and sometimes the reason that books never got returned was because some of them were killed in action. In those cases the books would end up back in the library... Most of the time.

Some, on the other hand, were just truant. No different.

As he woke up he took a moment to look at his belongings. Notable among them were several changes of clothing, some simple tools for various purposes such as eating utensils, hygiene products, and a couple simple tools like a screwdriver, a wrench, and some other things. He also had a collection of different books to keep himself entertained, among them a guide to the paranormal, an encyclopedia of world knowledge, various books of unsolved mysteries and conspiracy theories (although he knew the explanation for many of them), and a handful of fantasy novels. Cato loved books more than most normally would. Some would describe him as aloof, but not entirely rude. At his job, he took great joy in helping people find what they needed. To serve. To help. To support. However, when no one was looking, he would occasionally grab a book off of the shelves and begin to read it. In those moments the world around him would cease to exist, as he would allow himself to become immersed in the worlds the books contained.

His drafting was as sudden as it was curious, almost like someone had been watching him for a while. When he was selected, they had him answer a series of questions. He wasn't sure what their intentions were but it almost felt like an interrogation. Finally, after he was done, they sent him on his way... And then he was ordered to report to the military division of DI.

The housing quarters were nice enough. Comfortable furniture, and a nice bathroom with a comfortable tub. He took in his surroundings when suddenly he smelled... Breakfast food? It was nearly time for them to eat, so got dressed and went outside and sure enough, there was Lyreth cooking breakfast for everyone. There was also another person, Jessabell, who was out there with her. He made his way to the bar and despite his fatigue managed to let out a groggy-sounding "Good morning."

Jessabell cocked her head at Cato's appearance. Guess, I shouldn't be surprised if everypony else is already here. I'm likely the only one who didn't live here already, nor go on site. Distracted by these thoughts she went to take another bite of bacon, but ended up biting her fingers. Ow. She wagged her hand a couple times as if that would throw the pain away. "Maybe. Pass that plate of bacon over here and it will be a good first step to that." Jess tapped to indicate a spot on the counter next to her, but made no move to actually take the plate if Cato offered it to her, instead she seemed to look past him with a furrowed brow.

At Jessabell's request, Cato got a plate of bacon and put it on the spot she indicated to him.

"Here you go, ma'am." he poignantly stated. He then proceeded to get a plate of bacon and eggs for himself and took a seat next to Jessabell. Hunger got the better of him and he sampled some of the food, which was incredibly tasty and satisfying. He then turned to Jessabell. "By the way, I apologize if my appearance has caused you injury." He briefly paused. The situation seemed to demand that he be somewhat social despite himself. He wasn't used to taking initiative in a conversation, but nevertheless he attempted to introduce himself to Jessabell.

"Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Cato Marinus. Might I be so bold as to ask your name?"

"You didn't." Jessabell assured him. When he sat down next to her she shied away from him and despite what she had said to Lyreth she responded curtly, "Jessabell." Then the relatively short woman hopped off the counter, picked up the plate of bacon he had brought over, and seemed to want to use Lyreth as a shield by more or less putting her between him and herself. She stopped and leaned against the counter once she was on the opposite side of the Octumas girl from him and set the plate down. Apparently satisfied that he was no longer next to her she jested, "Will the Green Hornet be joining us next?"
