CC2 President and noted Shounen JUMP and Twitter enthusiast Hiroshi "Piros" Matsuyama continues to dish out questions and answers on his blog, and we continue to translate them. If you're feeling lucky you can try asking him something yourself via the form on his blog.

Q(Maeda): When will the results of the ".hack" character popularity poll come out?
A:Please wait for a little while. Right now we're working on the special feature involving the winners. I think we'll be able to release it in September.

Q(Mako8 Shinja): It looks like there's going to be a new PS3 game. I can't wait. I hope it's an RPG that surpasses even .hack.
A: Please look forward to it!!

Q(TAKA):I learned about Tail Concerto because of "Solatorobo." I definitely want to play it but it seems really hard to get a hold of, so I wish you'd release it on PSN! I'm sure you're very busy developing all sorts of games, but please consider it.
A:Right now there are no plans to release "Tail Concerto" on PSN. I apologize. Please send your request to Namco Bandai Games!!

Q(Kelb): When will more information come out on your 15th anniversary project?
A: More information on "Strelka Stories" will come out later. Please be patient and wait a little longer.

Q(Nole): Alright! Let's ask a question! Piroshi-san, which do you like more? Cats or dogs? As a kemoner [Japanese furry], I'm very interested.
A: I'm a dog person.

Q(anonymous): Please make The World.
A: Wow, that's very direct. Presently, we don't have any plans for that. I'm sorry.

Hiroshi Matsuyama Answers Your Questions about the Future of .hack

On his newly-minted Famitsu blog, CyberConnect2 President Hiroshi "Piros" Matsuyama has taken the time to answer fans' questions about his work. If there were any lingering doubts in your mind about this being the final "season" of .hack, he puts them to rest once and for all with a merciless barrage of responses, translated here:

Q03(Silvia): Are you planning on making anything after this .hack? If you can, I'd like it on PS3!!!
A03: Do you mean a sequel to ".hack"? Or a brand new original game after ".hack"? Of course we're working on brand new games. For PS3 too.

Q05(Moririn): Are you not making any more games for the .hack series?
A05: Right now, we're right in the middle of the "3rd Season." But each component of the season is being revealed in order. This "3rd Season" is the final chapter of ".hack".

Q10(Utakata): Pleeease put out a new .hack on PS3!
A10: Thank you for your support. It looks like there are a lot of questions like this.

Q11(anonymous): Please make a new .hack on an HD console. Personally I'd like it on PS3 with a story mode and online mode with PKing, I want to play a real The World.
A11: Thank you for your support.

Q16(anonymous): Do you have any plans for a new RPG to take the place of .hack? If you can, for PS3 please! :)
A16: I can't talk about our plans.

Q19(Jun): Are you not doing the .hack//series anymore?
A19: Right now we're doing the "3rd Season."

.hack//Quantum - Meet Yata Mirror!!

In the upcoming OVA series .hack//Quantum, our heroes cross paths with a mysterious new guild called Yata Mirror. The Yata Mirror, or Yata no Kagami is a famous relic associated with the Japanese goddess Amaterasu. The Yata Raven, the origin of the name of Yata and his guild Raven in .hack//G.U., is said to be her messenger.

Shamrock (Shadow Warlock, Voiced by Sanae Kobayashi) - Guildmaster of the adventurer's guild Yata Mirror. With her members she embarks on the legendary quest "The One Sin."

Smith (Lord Partizan, Voiced by Masami Iwasaki) - Shamrock's second-in-command, Smith is a silent warrior who often lets the guildmaster ride on his shoulder.

.hack//Quantum - Meet the Cast!

In the upcoming OVA series .hack//Quantum, our protagonists Sakuya, Mary, and Tobias boldy take on the legendary "impossible quest" The One Sin. However, quickly overwhelmed, they are chased by monsters and accidentally spring traps on the guild Yata Mirror, making powerful enemies in the process. The next day, the group finds a bounty has been placed on their heads, and discover that even in town they are being targeted. As Sakuya runs away a strange cat-shaped PC calling itself "Hermit" appears and asks her, "Did you pick up something strange back there?"

Sakuya (Twin Blade, Voiced by Kana Hanazawa) - Because she tends to act without thinking when overcome by curiosity, Sakuya often causes trouble for those around her. She also has a habit of picking up anything she finds, which can lead to further mayhem.

Mary (Edge Punisher, Voiced by Ayumi Fujimura) - The limits of Mary's seemingly boundless kindness are often tested by the impulsive Sakuya and cold Tobias. Once again she's forced to clean up a mess...

Tobias (Blade Brandier, Voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro) - Tobias is a heavy player of The World known as "Tobias the Information Merchant". True to his name, he's prepared for anything, with elaborate plans for any quest he undertakes.

Hermit (???, Voiced by Yui Ogura) - A strange character with an illegal appearance. Whether Hermit is a PC or NPC is unknown, but it appears to be looking for something.

Anime Expo Live .hack//Segment

Anime Expo Live is a weekly webcast put on by the folks at the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation (SPJA) -- AKA Anime Expo. If you're even remotely following the Anime scene, you know AX is one of the biggest cons in the United States. This weeks webcast had a special .hack segment to celebrate the announcement of .hack//Quantum, going over a lot of .hack's media timeline. Check out the video below (archive of this past Wednesdays show) and be sure to check out AX Live Wednesdays at 7pm PST - it's worth it if you want to call yourself an epic Otaku.

Holy Aura, I completely forgot that the website's birthday was yesterday due to all the new .hack//Quantum info! Yes, you read right. Seven years. I was still in high school when I started dothackers, now I'm a college grad and I have 15 kids and three wives (Mimiru, Blackrose, and recently engaged to Mary!). OK, only one of these things are true...

Thank you to all who have visited in the past and those who continue to stick around, it's been an amazing 7 years - and we're here to keep you company to the bitter end of "The World."

.hack//Quantum to span 3 OAVs

Some new .hack//Quantum info to digest! The series will be three OAVs - how long each part will be is unannounced to date. Tobias, Mary, and Sakuya are new characters to the .hack universe, although obviously share the avatars of our beloved dothackers. .hack//Quantum takes place in 2022, which is set after .hack//Link’s video game and manga, but still belongs under the .hack//LINK umbrella. Confused yet? Take a look at the official .hack timeline. The OAVs will be specially screened on November 27th, at Anime Fes. “VS” in Japan! No release date has been announced yet.

Christmas 2022. The World once again flourishes, with over 10 million players of The World R:X worldwide. In a special Christmas event, three players set out to conquer an "unbeatable" quest–The One Sin. Animated by Kinema Citrus, .hack//Quantum's aim is to be an ultra-high quality addition to the .hack anime collection.

.hack//Quantum CONFIRMED!!

The new .hack anime has been confirmed as .hack//Quantum!! Taking place in The World R:X after the events of .hack//Link, it tells the story of a party of adventurers (Tobias, Mary, and Sakuya–shown below) with familiar-looking PCs who set out to conquer a difficult quest. The anime will be specially screened all over Japan at Anime Fes. "VS" on November 27th, other release information is unavailable at this time.

.hack//Quantum, along with .hack//Link and the upcoming movie that takes place in a fourth version of The World and stars a completely different Kite lookalike, form the triumvirate of titles that end .hack. Hiroshi "Piros" Matsuyama previously declared 2010 "the year of .hack." More details to come soon!!

Kite in Tales?!

In a possible reciprocation of the Tales of Graces cameos in Link, our beloved Kite appears to be making a guest appearance in Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X. More details to come as they're confirmed!
