FORCE:ERA is the fourth version of The World, and serves as the setting for the upcoming movie .hack: Beyond the World, which takes place in 2024. Although Hiroshi Matsuyama has said FORCE:ERA is still running in the year 2025, he has stated that it will not be the setting for the new "2025" game following the movie. Matsuyama says that that story will take place within "another version" of The World running alongside FORCE:ERA in 2025. Whether this will be a public version of The World, a secret game, a past revision, or something else has yet to be revealed. But, if it's anything like FORCE:ERA, prepare for an amazing game!

Let's go back to the movie and 2024 for now. FORCE:ERA was designed to go back to The World's roots and be more closely based on Emma Wielant's story The Epitaph of Twilight. "The World" we've come to love is actually named "Alba"--a sprawling floating landmass encompassing the Lost Grounds, Roots Towns, and fields, with a gargantuan "Goddess Statue" at its center. There are 34 classes, including base classes, special classes, and progression options. Guilds roam the land and do battle with powerful airships.

Possibly hinting at his mysterious appearance in the 2025 game, in 2024 Haseo's guild Canard, once barely a blip on the radar, has gone on to become one of the largest and most powerful guilds in FORCE:ERA, with Haseo as its legendary figurehead. Whether or not he still actually plays the game has yet to be revealed.

The newest game in the franchise (which is fast coming up on its 10th anniversary) is no exception. In addition to the new teaser page, dothack.com appears to be refreshed, displaying the recent trailer for the upcoming .hack//The Movie. More details are set to be released sometime after the movie's theatrical premier about the newest unnamed .hack game, which is coming up very soon on January 21st, 2012.

For real this time. Or until CC2 pulls Famitsu off store shelves 24 hours later. Details are scarce, but our good ol' translator Kuukai is on the hunt for information.

What has been revealed and translated is via Andriasang: The unnamed next .hack video game will be more "realistic" in terms of graphics and takes place a year after .hack//The Movie, set in 2025. There has been no indication on what console it is currently being developed for, but all signs point to the PlayStation 3 and a potential hybrid PS3 game included with the release of .hack//The Movie on Blu-ray.

While the movie stars a character who resembles Kite from the first series of games, the game features a character who looks a lot like Haseo from .hack//G.U. Whether this is the original player or a new one is unknown. More details are set to be released sometime after the movie's theatrical premier, which is coming up very soon on January 21st, 2012.
